Is there anyone up for a trip to Earth?
Post by skitch on Jan 9, 2008, 10:14am

General Vell makes a request to the X-Pats that he needs someone to help him with a fairly personal favor.

Re: Is there anyone up for a trip to Earth?
Post by xandar on Jan 9, 2008, 2:23pm

~Amaltheia~

A 'favour'.

The thing about those is that there's always something to gain from it. Usually a level of debt; I doubt it's anything that big, but the word 'personal' brings up a lot of other buzz words, and it means the recipient is likely to be that much more… grateful. And it's always good to have someone like General Vell's gratitude.

So coming to see him about it doesn't take much thought.

"Sir?"

Genis smiles at Amaltheia, "Good morning, how are your quarters?"

Re: Is there anyone up for a trip to Earth?
Post by xandar on Jan 9, 2008, 2:33pm

"Spacious," I respond plainly. "You needed a favour, sir?"

Re: Is there anyone up for a trip to Earth?
Post by sam1 on Jan 9, 2008, 2:39pm

I love doing favors. ADORE it even. Why? No, not beacuse I like helping people. People suck.

But every Favor I do means one they owe me. It's my little way of running the universe.

With all this in mind, I happly make my way toward Genis, glad to be acumulating my first personal favor of the new base.

Re: Is there anyone up for a trip to Earth?
Post by skitch on Jan 9, 2008, 2:40pm

Genis nods, "Actually, I do. When he was last here, Corsair left a package he wanted delivered to his son and his new bride on Earth. I am pretty sure a Kree soldier showing up on Earth would cause some attention. I was hoping some of you could deliever it for me."

The spider returns.

"I can't go. Black Air will Stuff me in a bag and throw me into a jeep."

Re: Is there anyone up for a trip to Earth?
Post by skitch on Jan 9, 2008, 2:49pm

Genis turns to Fang, "I can pay up front or owe you a favor later on. Your choice."

Genis says to Alyssa, "You won't be exposed for long. I can place you pretty much right at the mansion."

Re: Is there anyone up for a trip to Earth?
Post by xandar on Jan 9, 2008, 2:50pm

[Joke?]

The leader of the X-men. That could be… interesting. Definitely worth the trip, even without General Vell's gratitude.

"Okay. When would I leave?"

Re: Is there anyone up for a trip to Earth?
Post by skitch on Jan 9, 2008, 2:53pm

Genis says, "Whenever you are ready."

"Would be nice to get on Earth again…"

I was getting bored of the scenery anyway. More my team-mates than the Sol itself. A change of company could be fun.

"How about later today?"

Crawls near Genis,"Yer…If we can't close our eyes?"

This is stupid. What is he, a Genie now?

I do as he says though.

Re: Is there anyone up for a trip to Earth?

You all start to feel a tugging on your bodies. It's similar to teleportation. The tugging stops, and you feel a massive buildup of acceleration.

Great.

They're all that stupid. Incredible. [Re: Fang.]

I tense up a bit when it starts to feel like we're plummeting, but there's no way Vell doesn't know what he's doing - I'm not concerned.

Re: Is there anyone up for a trip to Earth?

Re: Is there anyone up for a trip to Earth?

After what seems like either hours or seconds…hard to tell, Genis says, "All right. Just hit your comm when you're ready to return. They know you're coming, so you don't have to worry about being attacked. 5…4…3..2.." Genis's voice is gone. You feel grass beneath your feet.

Re: Is there anyone up for a trip to Earth?

"Cik…Hi Ma-Di-Karook!" Fang waves.

Re: Is there anyone up for a trip to Earth?
Post by sephula on Jan 9, 2008, 3:28pm

"No misunderstanding fight…?" I drawl slowly as a smirk slides onto my face. "That's no fun…." I open my eyes to see the mansion in front of me. I've only been here once before, but it was just as impressive then as it is now.

I take a deep breath - I'd almost forgotten what Earth air tastes like; there's always a unique metallic tang to it - and make my way to the front door.

Re: Is there anyone up for a trip to Earth?

"Qib…Ah it's over. Hey is that the same mansion from the holomission? Can we expect sentinels?"

«That is the big different between events and missons, not confused identity brawls »

Cyclops is walking across the grass towards them. He raises a hand in greeting. Cyclops looks…relaxed. No costume or complicated visor. Just ruby quartz sunglasses.

["Oh, crap! I forgot the package! Just gimme a second, I'll be right back!"]

"Scott Summers?" I hold the package out to him. "Special delivery from your father."

Re: Is there anyone up for a trip to Earth?
Post by skitch on Jan 9, 2008, 3:34pm

Scott says, "It's a shame he couldn't bring it himself. It's a bit of a late wedding gift."

Re: Is there anyone up for a trip to Earth?
Post by hellfireknight on Jan 9, 2008, 3:34pm

Fang looks at Cyclops with his eight eyes,"Pri…Please sir, got any spare parts?"

Re: Is there anyone up for a trip to Earth?
Post by sephula on Jan 9, 2008, 3:34pm

"Wedding gift?"

That's annoying - I actually want to know what it is, now.

"What is it?"

Re: Is there anyone up for a trip to Earth?
Post by skitch on Jan 9, 2008, 3:36pm

Scott says, "Not sure what it is. He said it was a surprise. Come on inside and I'll open it."

"Spare parts? Is his…her…uhm…sorry… translator not working?"

Re: Is there anyone up for a trip to Earth?
Post by sephula on Jan 9, 2008, 3:38pm

"It's working fine. He has severe mental problems dating back to early childhood. It's better if you just ignore him."

I've only just met him actually, but I don't care particularly - I'll say what I want about him.

Re: Is there anyone up for a trip to Earth?
Post by hellfireknight on Jan 9, 2008, 3:40pm

"Yip…Translator is fine. It's just for all my knowledge of this place, it gets alot of Sentinel attacks. What happens to them when the fighting is over?"

"Ira…and I'd like you to meet my wife, Thumbelina." He says motioning towards Amaltheia.

Re: Is there anyone up for a trip to Earth?
Post by sam1 on Jan 9, 2008, 3:43pm

Part of me wants to defend Fang, but only beacuse this new girl is such a bitch. Really makes me seem like a nice person.

Re: Is there anyone up for a trip to Earth?
Post by sephula on Jan 9, 2008, 3:43pm

A bone protrudes from my forearm, extending with a bladed tip.

"I hate spiders. You don't mind if I squash him before we go inside, do you, Cyclops?"

Re: Is there anyone up for a trip to Earth?
Post by skitch on Jan 9, 2008, 3:45pm

Scott looks confused but says, "Yeah, we've had a lot of Sentinel junk in the lawn over the years. Most of it ends up in Forge's hands." Scott crinkles his forehead, "There is something disturbing about having toast from a toaster than once tried to kill you."

"And it's nice to meet you, Thumbelina," Scott says. Scott eyes the blade, "Lover's quarrel?"

Re: Is there anyone up for a trip to Earth?
Post by sephula on Jan 9, 2008, 3:47pm

"Hardly. He has an inappropriate sense of humour." The bone retracts. "Like I'd ever be involved with anything as disgusting as him." I extend a hand to Summers. "Amaltheia Leaina. Not Thumbelina."

Re: Is there anyone up for a trip to Earth?
Post by hellfireknight on Jan 9, 2008, 3:47pm

"Bib…" He shrugs,"Life isn't interesting unless somethings wrong."

Re: Is there anyone up for a trip to Earth?
Post by skitch on Jan 9, 2008, 3:50pm

Scott puts the gift on a table. He looks around for a scissor, gives up and fires a very thin blast to cut the package open. He opens the box, and pulls out a small crystal. He touches it and it projects pictures of Scott and Alex (both as kids and adults), Christopher and his wife, and Jean (also as a kid and adult). Scott smiles, "Wow…"

You guys notice there is something else in the box.

Re: Is there anyone up for a trip to Earth?
Post by sam1 on Jan 9, 2008, 3:50pm

I roll my eyes. Just what I wanted on my first trip to earth in months, watch these two at eachother.

"Alyssa. You met me back when I was begging to be protected from Black air. Then you shot me into space? Remember that? Great idea by the way."

Re: Is there anyone up for a trip to Earth?
Post by sephula on Jan 9, 2008, 3:52pm

The picture doesn't interest me at all - I'm curious about what's left inside, though. I tap the box.

"What's that?"

Re: Is there anyone up for a trip to Earth?
Post by skitch on Jan 9, 2008, 3:55pm

Scott looks at Alyssa with some embarrassment, "It was meant to be a temporary solution. We can set you up with accomodations here if you'd like."

Scott watches Alyssa and waits for an answer. He glances at what's in the box.

Cyclops clears his throat, obviously uncomfortable. He pulls the item out of the box. At first, he has no idea what he's looking at. It appears to be very light black fabric…mostly see through. Then he turns it upright, and realizes it is lingerie. Scott turns bright red, "Oh…uhm…"

Post by sephula on Jan 9, 2008, 4:03pm

I lean over the box, resting my elbow on his shoulder and looking down at it.

"It could be worse. She could have sent it for you."

Re: Is there anyone up for a trip to Earth?

Scott turns even redder, "Yes. Well. I will make sure I thank them both for these generous gifts."

Re: Is there anyone up for a trip to Earth?

Doging feet? Footsies? I have heard of this game, but can't play due to the lack of feet. Interesting, these humans must live boring lives.

«55% of the country watched that episode the first night it aired. And the website was getting dls non-stop. And it has four spin off series (technically, five if you count Torchwood Confidential) airing at the moment. Just because you don't watch it doesn't mean you shouldn't know at least something about it

Of course, I appreciate any show that has these lines in a Christmas episode:

Astrid: This Christmas thing. What’s it all about?
The Doctor: Long story. I should know, I was there. I got the last room

Mr. Copper: (as they travel through the ruined Titanic) This is very much in the spirit of Christmas. It’s a festival of violence. They say that human beings only survive depending on whether they’ve been good or bad. It’s barbaric.
The Doctor: Actually, that’s not true. Christmas is a time of peace and thanksgiving and… What am I on about? My Christmases are always like this.

Mr. Copper: I am Mr. Copper, the ship’s historian, and I shall be taking you to Old London Town in the country of UK, ruled over by Good King Wenceslas. Now, human beings worshipped the great god Santa, a creature with fearsome claws, and his wife Mary and every Christmas Eve, the people of UK go to war with the country of Turkey. They then eat the turkey people for Christmas dinner, like savages.
The Doctor: Excuse me, sorry. Sorry. Where did you get all this from?
Mr. Copper: Well, I have a first-class degree in Earthonomics.

And David Tennant is just about the only person who could deliever this line straight faced without me rolling my eyes: I'm the Doctor. I'm a Time Lord. I'm from the planet Gallifrey in the constellation of Kasterborous. I'm 903 years old and I'm the man who's going to save your lives and all six billion people on the planet below. (pause) You got a problem with that?»
