New Mutants vs. Alien #1
Post by Armando "Army" Rosewell on Jun 29, 2007, 1:30am

Imagine an organism.

This organism does not need to breath air. It does not need to eat or drink. It feels no emotion. No fear. No love. It has no thoughts, only instinct. And this instinct continually tells it to breed.

However, breeding for this organism is a painful affair. Not for the organism itself, but for whatever creature it plays host to. You see, to be born, it must first grow inside the stomach of another creature. When the time is right, it breaks free - forcefully. It kills whatever gave birth to it.

This organism will grow quickly. Within hours it will be an adult. And then, it will focus on one thing and one thing only: breeding others of its own kind. More killing. More death. More birth.

It feels no pain. No fatigue. It will never rest in its task. It will break walls. Float through the void of space. Anything. It will spawn and spawn and spawn until there is nothing left for its kind to spawn from.

The perfect organism. Unstoppable and relentless.

And it’s coming to Earth.

On the Moon, amidst the ravaged city of Attila, the New Mutants encounter an enemy fiercer than anything they’ve yet to face…and something even more sinister lies beneath.

New Mutants vs. Alien #1

Guest-Starring…anyone who’s on at the time.

SHIELD / Starcore Labs - Data Log - Entry 098

This will be my last transmission. Most likely.

I don't have a lot of time, so I can't go into details right now…but then, I don't really need to, do I? If you've found this recording, you've made it to the center of the Starcore Research Facility #2. You've gotten through all the horrors. I'd imagine you're superpowered, probably a team like the Avengers or X-Men. You would pretty much have to be.

The point is, if you've gotten that far, you know what I've unleashed here. I won't excuse the inexcusable, but I want you to understand, I had and still have the best intentions in mind - selfish as they were. My daughter, when she died, she…it's a hard thing, watching someone you love die so slowly. Watching the cancer eat away at her body, day by day, kill her slowly. She was young, only 17 when it finally claimed her. Too young. I wanted to bring her back and give her a life back - I wanted to play God. And, in my madness, I didn't think of sensibility or caution. I just wanted her back.

Whatever my reasons, I want you to know - I tried to end it. I may die…no, I will die. But I'm going to try to end it.

God, forgive me…this is head science officer Charles Bishop Weyland, signing off.

End Transmission

NEW MUTANTS -vs- ALIEN #1

~*~

It's a great day. IN SPACE.

Various New Mutants from all over the world have been brought together and flown up to the Juber, which is now in geosynchronous orbit with Earth. None of them have been told the reason yet, but it's obvious that something big is afoot - Medusa, wife of Black Bolt, Agent Sharon Hill of SHIELD, and Gladiator are all present, and they all seem quite disturbed. For the moment, they gather everyone in the Juber's meeting room, getting ready to explain the situation when everyone settles in.

[Check in as you please. Might start this today, might not, depends on the willing. If you want to use a Gen X character, don't sweat it too much. We can fit this into continuity somehow, and if not, we'll just take it out. This is more about having fun than anything.]

Re: New Mutants vs. Alien #1

Once it becomes apparent that everyone's settled in, Medusa addresses the group.

"Greetings, New Mutants. I'm sorry for the abrupt way in which we called you all here today, and I apologize in advance for the manner in which you will be briefed; time is a factor here, so I can't delve as deeply as I would like. I will, however, explain the overall situation to you."

The room darkens as a screen comes down behind her, showing an overhead view of Attila - even from that far up, it's apparent the place is under extreme attack. Fires breaking out, buildings collapsing, bodies in the street, et cetera. "As some of you may or may not be aware, Attila recently came under attack. What you may not be aware of is the exact nature of our attackers - a very violent alien race, unlike anything we've encountered before. At first, we managed to beat them back easily with our abilities, and Black Bolt - my husband - managed to slay quite a few with but a whisper. However, the creatures are masters of stealth, and managed to surprise him. Even though he killed the attacker, Black Bolt was not aware that the creatures bled acid. He was critically wounded, and the creatures seem to have surged with his incapacitation, almost as if they're taking advantage to launch an offensive on our city."

The screen changes

"This is the only image we've managed to take of one of them. As said, they're very adept at avoiding detection."

Re: New Mutants vs. Alien #1

Well, I've got a veritable arsenal here, with me. I'm not the Punisher, so I can't carry it all on me. Something tells me that these things don’t scare easily, if at all – they might not even be truly sentient. That means the Cain gear’s a bit useless. Risk it is, by the looks of things.

So, that’s one decision made. Second question is; what do take out of my little armoury? Well, I could get an idea of it from Medusa.

"Question here. What does it take to blow these bastards to kingdom come? We don’t exactly have an earthquake inducing screamer on us."

I’m not even going to think about what it could mean that the Inhumans can’t handle this on their own – or that these things injured their king, easily one of the most powerful people that I know of.

I look up as the alien jumps onto the ceiling.

"Great… just what we need. Anyone got some Raid?"

Re: New Mutants vs. Alien #1
Post by Armando "Army" Rosewell on Jun 30, 2007, 1:40pm

Smasher steps up, coughing, looking a bit pale. "Okay. Here's the story, as I understand it - it's real old, so there are some holes, but…well…yeah. This is one of the highest secrets in the universe, so listen up."

"A real long time ago, before the Shi'ar or the Kree or the Skrulls or the Terrans or anything we know of - there was a civilization that basically lived to kill everything it came across. Their religion called for the purification of worlds, and to do that, they created these things - we believe they called them the Kianda Amedha, no idea what that translates to. Anyway, the civilization would drop one of these creatures on a planet, the creature would reproduce by using living organisms as hosts, and within about, say, a month, just about every living thing on the planet would be dead, replaced by the Kianda. The civilization would then use…something to make all the Kianda die, leaving the planet mute. Purified. No life."

"Fortunately, before it could get out of hand, Galactus showed up and destroyed their planet. Unfortunately, whatever secret they had to controlling the Kianda died off with them." He begins bringing up more clips, various shots of the creatures on different planets and different systems. "These things have been popping up sporadically over the universe ever since, but the Kree managed to capture one and experiment with it not too long ago. During the Kree/Skrull War, however, one of them Kianda got lose and made it to Earth. It killed off an entire in the…what was the place again?"

Sharon snaps out of a trance, turning to the others. "A small town in Kansas, called Farmington. Just one of these things killed 79 people in under twenty-four hours. SHIELD managed to capture it, though, and we've been doing experiments on its DNA, trying to learn more about the creature in case we encountered it again - with Black Bolt's permission, we studied it a Starcore facility on the moon. However, there was a problem."

"This man. We don't know the reasons, but he's been conducting secret experiments with the creatures DNA, and we believe this outbreak is a result. Our scanners indicate that he's inside the facility, controlling these creatures somehow…you're job will be to find him."

[Sorry that took so long. Need to write this stuff in advance.]

"Fine, I won't shoot him. It wasn't going to kill him, anyway. Promise. Just zap him a little. Sure, with 900,000 volts, but…"

I look at the spider-guy.

"Yeah, living up to rumours is fun! D'you know a guy called Spider-man? No, you'd be a little more fun if you did…"

Medusa seems a bit insulted, but she plays it down. "The only reason my husband was taken unawares was because he did not know the nature of their power. However, Charles Xavier has informed me that the crew before me today is well equipped to the task, hence your presence while the X-Men help us fight. For instance…Pester, I believe your called? We believe the creatures are highly dependent on sound, so you should be able to confuse them. Nadia, your abilities could give you some protection against the creatures acidic blood if you take on the properties of it, letting you withstand their attack. And, in case things become to dangerous, Chord's teleportation abilities could prove useful."

Sharon continues. "And destroying the facility outright with nuclear explosion doesn't guarantee anything the creatures are already in the midst of Attila, and we'd rather not damage the Inhuman's home. Fortunately, while the Kianda are clever, they're no more intelligent than your average predatory animal. They won't be flying any ships back to Earth."

Bullets will kill them just fine, but I wouldn't recommend electricity - you see, their bodies use acid for blood and energy, so they're basically like walking batteries. Too much heat, and they explode, sending the acid everywhere. If you can, kill them from as far away as possible. "Oh, and one more note."

The team moves out, and a few panels and an ad later find themselves in the docking bay of the massive Starcore facility - though, really, it doesn't look much like a lab anymore. The walls are coated with thick secreted resin, black and bony all around, making the entire facility seem like the belly of a gigantic beast.

The silence is suddenly broken when a shriek is heard in the distance - a human shriek. A girl, looking about seventeen years old, comes running through the corridors, crying bloody murder as she goes, and with good reason: Three of the creatures are on her tail, crawling along the walls and gaining faster.

"Help! For God's sake, help!"

Risk manages to get one of them with a headshot and Fang nabs one with his net, but the third one breaks through and tackles the girl, knocking her flat. He grab her by the head, lifts her up, and slowly begins to open his mouth, drool leaking out freely.

The creature is freaked out by Nadia's assault, and she manages to separate the girl effectively and toss the Kianda away. It hits a wall, appears stunned for a moment, but gets back up and charges back in heading straight for Nephy with astonishing speeds.

Meanwhile, the one Fang managed to bag breaks out.

The flashbang succeeds, stunning all the xenomorphs at one, making them stagger and scream. Oddly enough, the girl screams as well, covering her ears.

Crap. They said sound does something to them… But I have no idea what that means. Guess it's time to figure that out.

Pester makes the aliens hear loud, violent explosions coming from the girl's direction, hoping to scare them away from her.

Why don't these damn things stay down?

If I had my durability, I could probably run right up to one and safely try to rip its throat out… as it is, it's back to the handgun. My hand goes for the Beretta, and- oh, hell. I dropped it when I grabbed the flashbang. I don't have my Mauser. I have a Desert Eagle, but that's my last handgun.

I take a shot at the thing.

Ghost, do you think you could go into her head?

"Joshua, focus on the girl!"

I fire at the living aliens, trying to drop them all while they're still stunned.

The xenomorphs are confused by Pester's assault and start to retreat, heading out and disappearing in the darkness.

Effective as it was, Pester feels an odd psychic backlash from his power - breed. Breed. Breed. Breed. Breed. The longer he stays connected, the stronger the desire to breed hits him.

I've been trying to escape for day, but those things, they're so persistent…I don't know what I'd do if you hadn't come along." She looks at Pester, smiling. Slightly smiling.

Damn it, we have no idea how to know if someone's been infected. I nudge Joshua, hoping he'll snap out of his stupid lovesick gorrila mode, not moving the gun from the girl.

I turn to Mariah.

And the creatures wouldn't bother chasing after me if I was infected, because there's no point in it. And it's not even really an infection…more like impregnation. "Drop back slightly - spider person. I have no idea what your name is. Nadia's better suited for it. Joshua, a burst as soon as we come across them. We should be able to pick them off without too much difficulty if we stun them all as soon as we get to them."

I take a flash grenade in hand, Magnum in other.

"Mariah, how do they impregnate people?"

Re: New Mutants vs. Alien #1
Post by Armando "Army" Rosewell on Jun 30, 2007, 2:54pm

They move on with Nadia at the lead…and, really, no contention. Even though they're obviously walking through the thick of the hive, they aren't attacked or anything. It's a calm walk.

Eventually, the resin cave empties out, and the group finds themselves staring down a very large hall with a very large robot standing in front of a very large door.

"HALT. YOU ARE ENTERING A RESTRICTED AREA. LEAVE IMMEDIATELY OR YOU WILL BE TERMINATED. YOU HAVE 20 SECONDS TO COMPLY."

”Yes, that would be the smart thing to do.”

I glance at Joshua.

“Unfortunately, we’re none of us that smart.”

Electroshock projectiles should work on this, and be pretty effective, I’m guessing. I load one into the Magnum and look for any sort of exposed area on the robot. If I don’t find one… I’ll just fire at its head and hope the impact pierces.

Pester unsheathes his sword and stands in front of Maraiah. Without knowing it, he is keeping the blade at waist level so as to protect both of their reproductive organs, as per the mandate of his subconscious.

Just for moral support, he plays this really loud in everyone's head, including hers.

Re: New Mutants vs. Alien #1
Post by Armando "Army" Rosewell on Jun 30, 2007, 3:01pm

Unfortunately, the robot isn't the only offensive thing around. Six automatic sentry guns, three on each side of the corridor, pop out from the wall and immediately begin firing on the group, with the main sentry robot open up fire at their front.

"Or not. Let's try that."

Big robot. Very big robot. When in doubt, mimic the baddest assed thing in the room. I materialize again on top of the sentry's gun arm. I copy the material for armor and begin shifting my right arm into a similar gunarm as I jump off and start firing at what looks like its knees.

Re: New Mutants vs. Alien #1

Fang scampers around trying to avoid fire, and hit the guns with webbing hoping they jam.

Re: New Mutants vs. Alien #1

The robot is surprisingly resilient; it only takes a few scratches from Nadia's attacks and keeps moving. "WARNING. I AM THE REGIS MACH-5. YOUR ABILITIES ARE INSUFFICIENT TO DEAL WITH THE REGIS MACH-5. WITHDRAW IMMEDIATELY, OR YOU WILL BE TERMINATED BY THE SUPERIOR WEAPONRY OF THE REGIS MACH-5."

Fang manages to web up the guns, but the webbing is already starting to melt as they blast their way through.

Pester keeps Maraiah close… Very, very close… RAWR! As he look about the room for something he can use to help protect his queen— I mean, new friend. He also keeps an eye on his teammates so he can protect them in the following priority:

Maraiah
Nadia
Fang (Who knows, maybe it's actually a girl spider.)
Damien.

Pester grabs the gun (With a quick apology to it's former owner) and holds it lovingly, cradling it's long nozzle, stroking the barrel tenderly as he prepares to fire his hot payload into his enemies…

He begins firing on the nearest sentry gun, hoping to run interference for the more resilient members of his team… Primarily the girl.

That just leaves the Regis Mach 5. The surprisingly resilient Regis Mach 5. How do we defeat the Regis Mach 5?

I do the half tornado thing… in the direction from which we came, apparently running the hell away. Maybe thirty seconds later I come back, hoping to bullet my metal half into one of the Regis Mach 5's knee joints and knock the Regis Mach 5 off balance. The Regis Mach 5 doesn't look like it was designed with stability in mind.

Regis Mach 5.

Re: New Mutants vs. Alien #1
Post by Armando "Army" Rosewell on Jun 30, 2007, 3:32pm

Fang finds that, whatever power source the guns have, is runs through the wall and past the sealed door.

"Um…" Maraiah shakes her head. "I wasn't…I wasn't that high up on the ladder, I don't know how to control the systems."

Nadia's attack manages to damage the Regis Mach 5, and it teeters onto its side. Because of it's shoddy design, it can't get back up, and it winds up firing ineffectually at the wall. "HALT! HALT! HALT! THE REGIS MACH 5 STRONGLY SUGGESTS HALTING!"

He keeps hugging. Physical, non sexual affection helps build the bonds of caring between individuals, which strengthens the hive as a whole.

Pester thinks about this for a moment.

Definitely something wrong about all of this. I don’t like the girl. I really, really don’t like the girl. Satchel charge seems to be the way.

I set it on the door and back away.

“Everyone, away.”

Re: New Mutants vs. Alien #1
Post by Nadia "Osmosis Lass" Johansson on Jun 30, 2007, 3:52pm

"Sounds good to me, I guess."

Steeling over again I get behind the Regis Mach-5 and push it around until it's facing and blasting the door instead of the wall. Afterwards, I'll face him at the wall again.

Re: New Mutants vs. Alien #1
Post by Armando "Army" Rosewell on Jun 30, 2007, 3:55pm

The Regis Mach 5's shooting ignites the satchel charge, and the combined explosion ribs through the door easily, leaving a cloud of smoke in its wake - a cloud that's pierced by a well-placed bullet to Maraiah's forehead a moment later. She falls down. Dead.

The smoke clears to reveal Weyland on the other side, the gun in his hand, shaking. "You…idiots."

I don't care about his gun. Technically, I'm fast enough to dodge bullets after they've left the chamber, anyway. It's been put to the test enough times. I try to dash towards him, ready to try and dodge any attack - try being the operative word - with the intent of disarming him and pinning him to the floor.

I know there was something wrong with her. It was obvious - I was suspicious enough of her. Still, she was with us. That meant she was under our protection.

Pester drops his sword and cradles the body. He can't tell if he cares because he was under some kind of otherworldly control, or because he cared about her. As her blood flows over his hands, he can't force himself to wonder.

Re: New Mutants vs. Alien #1
Post by Armando "Army" Rosewell on Jun 30, 2007, 4:06pm

"Get off me!" Weyland struggles with Risk, and his gun gets knocked away. "Don't you realize what you've done here? Do you any idea?!"

Meanwhile, as Pester cradles the body, he notices the blood leaking from Maraiah's head is having an odd effect when it touches the floor…it burns through. Like acid.

Suddenly, life comes to her eyes and she wraps a hand around Pester's neck, whispering as the others are focused on Weyland. "Say a word and I'll rip your head off."

Re: New Mutants vs. Alien #1

I grab him by the neck, lift him up and slam him into a wall.

"No. Enlighten me," I growl.

I'm a hypocrite, I know. Every conscious thought is screaming at me to let him go, to listen to him rationally.

Guess what? I don't feel very rational when I see someone who was under our protection get shot in the head in front of me. Plus, I was sure it was my turn again.

So, yes. I was getting pissed off with them not using their common sense. Here I am ignoring my own. So shoot me.

Even dormant I can feel it. Why would they let it live?

Re: New Mutants vs. Alien #1

Weyland merely points behind them as Maraiah rises to her feet, Pester still clutched tightly in her hand. "Christ…do you have any idea how much that stung, Dad?" She pulls the bullet out of her and the wound heals immediately. "Going to have a headache for a week."

Re: New Mutants vs. Alien #1
Post by Risk on Jun 30, 2007, 4:14pm

"Yeah. It was probably hard to speak like that, anyway."

I drop him and spin around to face her.

"Dad? Shiny. You're a dirty, rotten liar, you know that? And I knew that there was something wrong with you, and I didn't even do anything… that makes me stupid. I don't like it when I seem stupid. Oh, well. Liar, liar, liar." The last sentence comes out sing-song.

I train a gun on her head.

"Freeze you, this won't, but I'm hoping it'll drop you long enough to do something more permanent, 'babe'."

I pull the trigger.

Re: New Mutants vs. Alien #1

I stare at Maraiah incredulously.

"Never straightforward, is it." I mutter, looking at Pester and wondering what could be done to him between the time it takes for me to get from here to there. "Dad?"

Then the others do it instead.

"Weyland? Killswitch? Tell me that it exists? Please?"

Weyland just shakes his head. "No killswitch."

A jump straight up would take me clear. Yeah.

Then there'd just be the problem of me having left Pester and Nadia to deal with these things. Oh, and Weyland and spider-guy, but no-one cares about them, anyway.

I stand where I am with a sigh, raising my arms, a flashback tucked into each of my coat sleeves.

"We… surrender?"

So what now?

I charge the Xenomorphs. But only as steel for the opening moments of it. I mean, they bleed acid that eats through almost anything. Medusa was the one that said it… absorbing their characteristics could make me immune to it. So that's what I do. Complex transformation, mimicking physical traits, not really different from turning my arm into a functioning laser rifle or machine gun. It takes a moment.

But soon enough, I'm a whole new Nadia.

Pester blacks out for a moment, when he awakens a few seconds later he notes a nice looking bloodstain on the wall next to him. It's fresh and warm, so he deduces it's his. He looks at the aliens and blares Ace of Spades in their disgusting, freakish ears.

The moment Nadia changes, she feels her mind bombarded by countless memories. Every kill, every birth, every moment of the Kianda's history is encoded in their DNA, and it fills her mind, along with the unending desire to breed and breed and breed.

Nadia's mind is like a can in the midst of a hurricane. She's overwhelmed. Her consciousness is caught up in the hive mind.

"Well, that was interesting." Maraiah smiles as Nadia's consciousness flows through her. The being that is still technically Nadia waddles over to Maraiah, and she gives it a few strokes on the head. "I think I have a new pet."

Meanwhile, Marcus, along with a few other New Mutants, have been dispatched into the facility as backup.

"Marcus Sun, kicking the collective asses of alien scum since 1994."

The wall melted through, plasma blazed everywhere, attacking the aliens, as Marcus flew up high.

"It's going to be one of those last minute save the day things isn't it?"

Re: New Mutants vs. Alien #1
Post by Armando "Army" Rosewell on Jun 30, 2007, 8:40pm

The aliens are surprised by the sudden appearance of Marcus (and, presumably, other assorted threats) but they're quick to regroup and adapt; one of them pops out of a ventilation shaft above Marcus and leaps on him, dragging him down to the ground while a few others try to pile up on.

Meanwhile, Lance - I mean, Weyland, retreats back into the room they busted open, opening up a hidden door in the wall. "This way!" He heads inside.

Any of the New Mutants going in will notice a giant xenomorph trapped inside some sort of blue forcefield in the middle of the room - the Queen.

Pester hates bugs. These things are a disgusting bunch of creatures. As he is tossed around like a volleyball, he gently plays the most boring, tedious, emasculating music he's ever heard in the hopes of calming them down enough that his teammates don't have to kill Nadia. Hell, maybe they're even dumb enough to fall asleep.

"Oh, shi…"

The Aliens piled on him.

"Alright maybe guns blazing wasn't the best idea."

He arc'd plasma around him, trying to hold them off, trying to max out the power to his jets at the same time. Free himself before too many pile up.

The music… coming from nowhere. No. Not nowhere. Nadia knows where it's coming from and can guess what it's aim is.

And the hive mind wont allow her to leave it be.

The Nadialien lets out a screech as it leaps through the air at Pester.

"It's not on life support, I was just trying to keep it contained until you morons broke the damn door! Now come on!" Weyland heads inside his secret door.

Marcus manages to break free, but not without taking some serious blows; his clothes are in tatters and he has some nasty gashes.

Meanwhile, Pester finds his sonic assault muffled, not getting all the way through - instead, he hears Maraiah's voice transmit into his mind. "That won't work, Josh…I've tasted you now, felt your mind. I am the Hive. We are the Hive…don't you want to join us?"

Re: New Mutants vs. Alien #1
Post by Armando "Army" Rosewell on Jun 30, 2007, 8:53pm

As the group battles on, they hear the ground begin to rumble, trembling every few seconds - and the source comes a moment later. Three giant xenomorphs, almost as big as the Queen herself, burst in through the corridor, each on sporting a pair of scythes where its hands should be and looking particularly nasty.

Ravagers.

Re: New Mutants vs. Alien #1

Another loud screech. One after the impact webbing, another as she's pelted with plasma. But the webbing got her head, sadly, in the game. By the time the beam hits her, Nadia is doing what she does best - adapting. Suddenly sporting claws and a razor tail formed of plasma, she leaps and slashes at Marcus.

Everyone manages to get inside - I assume they dragged Pester along as well. They shut the door just in time, as the sound of the xenomorphs banging on it echoes through the chamber - but, no worries, it's real thing. They won't be busting through anytime soon.

There are some stairs leading downward, and they empty out into a conference room of sorts, where Weyland waits.

Meanwhile, Nadia - the real Nadia - finds herself in pure darkness, but still conscious. And not alone, either. She can feel a strong presence around her, and it calls out to her. "Who are you?" It sounds curious. Amused.

Weyland closes his eyes, thinks for a minute. "Maraiah is using her superior intelligence to cooridinate them, make them stronger and smarter - as long as she's alive, they'll be unusually smart. We have to take her out and we have to take out the Queen - they can't make more eggs without her, I think. If I had to guess, I'd say Maraiah's next move will be to take one of the shuttles and store the Queen aboard, then transfer to Earth - fortunately, she doesn't know how to pilot a ship, so that gives us a little time before she figures it out. "All you do is destroy and destroy and destroy and kill and kill and kill and then when there's nothing left you'll die out anyway. In the interim you wipe out peoples, cultures, lives, loves and everything that's part of life. You're monsters."

Maybe diplomacy is the way to go with alien multimind, but I don't have it in me. I'm clearly transposing the Brood over them in my mind and I don't care. They're the same. Even worse.

Re: New Mutants vs. Alien #1
Post by Armando "Army" Rosewell on Jun 30, 2007, 10:16pm

Weyland opens the elevator and goes in, motioning for the others to follow. "Express elevator to hell. Going down."

The elevator drops to the facility's lower levels, and opens up to the MASSIVE shuttle area - there are plenty of ships around, and any one of them seems big enough to house the Queen. Fortunately, there aren't many aliens around - just Maraiah and Nadelian, looking down on them from the top of the nearest ship. "Sorry about the lack of a welcoming committee - my brothers are a bit busy killing you friends in the city, but they'll be back soon. In the meantime, I'm sure we'll be able to keep you company."

The Queen, along with two Ravagers, descends from the cieling, surrounding the group. And, as a final stab, Maraiah's body begins to change, taking on the composition of the ship she's standing on. "Oh, by the way, I borrowed some of your friends DNA. I'm sure she won't mind."

Re: New Mutants vs. Alien #1

Pester watches Fang for a moment. Smart guy. He focuses a loud, shrill screaming sound on only the Ravagers, but makes it so the sound gets lower the closer they get to the rear of the shuttle, around the engines.

Re: New Mutants vs. Alien #1
Post by Armando "Army" Rosewell on Jun 30, 2007, 10:42pm

Shaman manages to throw the Ravager pretty hard - but the damn thing is heavy as hell, so he's bound for some nasty feedback. To make matters worse, the Nadielien grabs him from behind and start to wrestle around him, trying to put him in position for a quick headbite.

Maraiah moves incredibly fast, dodge the glob of blood. "Nice try…Nephy, is it? But I have Nadia's memories. They're all inside. She's all inside." Maraiah move in a dazzling array of flips and twirls, landing behind Nephy and wrapping an arm around her neck before she can react. "Let me get a taste."

She bits Nephy on the neck, just deep enough to suck up some blood."

Where she expected a trickle, she gets a large pike ripping out of the neck she's biting and straight into her mouth. Blearily, I realize what she'd made of I probably can't Peirce that easily, but it's lost in the rage.

Re: New Mutants vs. Alien #1

Re: New Mutants vs. Alien #1
Post by Armando "Army" Rosewell on Jun 30, 2007, 10:53pm

The pike goes straight through Maraiah's mouth and she stumbles back, pulling her head back together as the skins starts to reform. Her acidic blood start to spill, but only for a moment - it starts to clump together and move back inside the way it came, just as if it was being controlled by Nephy.

"All…need…taste." Maraiah smiles as her head reforms. "Just a taste."

Since we need to kill her anyway, there's no reason to hold back. The glob I threw at her is flung at her much faster, splitting apart and becoming sharpened as they go.

Hope I'm still better then her at this…

Fang must have good luck with buttons, because the engines heat up and blast the Ravagers - mixed blessing, though. They both die, but they explode in a massive burst of acid, covering the ship. As it starts to melt around him, Fang hears 'Baby Got Back' on the radio.

Meanwhile the races you destroy at least have the capacity for creation - for leaving the universe with more than was there when they came. There's also the fact that eventually, you'll have breed as much as possible - there wont be anything else to kill to make more of yourselves. At that point you can either die or find another way. It will happen eventually. Why wait?"

Marcus' manages to hit the Queen head, striking her in the groin area - she's not dead, but for all intents in purposes, she might as well be now. Infuriated, she lets out an ear-piercing scream and charges toward Marcus on a suicide run.

The acid doesn't hurt Maraiah, but it does make her change form, reverting her to a pool of acid which quickly eats through the floor.

The Hive Mind, again, pauses and ponders. "You raise an interesting question, Nadia; one that we had not considered before - there is logic in your words. Eventually, we will die out, if our task is complete - all life will cease. But we need life to survive. Therefore, we destroy what we need most. It is an interesting quandary, and we would like to explore it further - also, the concept of having one among us that is not among us is intriguing. Our uptmost priority is to ensure our own survival, and we believe that further exploring this line of thought may prove beneficial. So, to that end, we make a deal: We will return you your body and allow control again. However, we will stay linked with your mind, in a small way - when you cross paths with our kind again, we will explore this line of thought more. Understood?"
