Detail to come.

Sunday, 10 PM EST.

Sorry to change this so abruptly, but I have to go to the hospital pretty urgently. I'll run this on Friday, and push the mission I was going to run on Saturday back a bit.

[It's had a bad run…. I was going to run it on the 27th, but I had to take off for the hospital, then Friday, but there wasn't enough people, then yesterday, but the X-Pats one ran - it's had pretty abrupt rescheduling, so I'm not surprised you didn't know it was running… don't think most did.]

Post by star on Mar 2, 2008, 10:07pm

[… crud. This mission is jinxed. All right, another rescheduling, I guess.

I'm going to try it again on Friday. I really should have wrapped up X-Corps at least two weeks ago now; so if Friday's one doesn't work, I'll have to to skip forwards to the next mission and Cliff Notes a plot for this one under Bulletins.]

Sunfire comes crashing through the nearest wall and careens to a halt at Arkas' feet.

Iron Man steps through the hole in the wall, holding out a hand — its palm smouldering after firing a repulsor ray at Sunfire.

"Everyone stay where you are."

James glances at Iron Man. "Don't worry, I have no intention of moving at the present time."

"The problem would be Sunfire and Kidd Taki interfe—"

The alarms around the entire complex blare up, all the way to Defcon 1, and Stark glances behind him before letting his gaze stray back over to the group.

"Damn it. Sunfire and that stupid Japanese girl's antics in the labs must have screwed with the complex's defen…ses…" his sentence trails off when he catches sight of the skull — and hears Mariah admit to eating Professor Xavier. His hand raises to meet her, a repulsor ray firing off at her.

"I knew it was a risk keeping all of you around, but Reed had to voice his naive god-damn optimism." He taps his chest plate.

"Pym. In here, now. Get the others."

Re: X-Corps #5 - Anarchy

Turning around.

"Ugh… Oh great, Sunfire and Tetsujin 88 is here."

She runs to grab onto Iron Man suit and absorb some tech, perferably the repulsor ray.

"I've no affiliation with the man-eater or the Japanese girl!" Moira shouts quickly.

The repulsor ray hits hard, repulsing me throw a wall - and another wall - and another wall.

Re: X-Corps #5 - Anarchy

[Sakaki's become a he ?]

Iron Man twists away from Sakaki, staggering through the hole in the wall — but the group doesn't get a respite. A blue portal opens, shimmering through the air. Through it step Wolverine and Hank Pym — just in time to see Iron Man fall.

Sakaki finds that she managed to integrate his flight capabilities and repulsor rays. What she also gets is a five foot three hairy Canadian lunging at her with his claws extended. "Gone soft, Stark?" he snarls.

Sunfire starts to stir from the ground, shaking the cobwebs off — after clearing his head, he glances around him and his eyes focus on the general group.

Swan

As Wolverine enters, I come at her from the side, trying to pin him into the wall knock him out with a blow to the face.

Re: X-Corps #5 - Anarchy

James looks towards Pym.

"I honestly had no idea this was going to happen. Sorry to say that I probably won't be able to help you with that core experiment, though."

Re: X-Corps #5 - Anarchy
Post by eternalone on Mar 9, 2008, 10:24pm

Self serving to the last, Arkas hadn't really intended to risk his body without his abilities to back him up. That hasn't really changed. But Mariah got blasted without dying and even Sakaki's doing her thing. He checks to see if his powers have been restored and if so, blasts the hairy Canadian.

Re: X-Corps #5 - Anarchy
Post by star on Mar 9, 2008, 10:27pm

There's only so much defence an adamantium skull can give you against super-strength; and between Sakaki's blast, Arkas' blast and Swan's it, apparently it's not enough. The solid hit knocks Wolverine out. Just before Pym grows to about fifteen feet in height and swats Swan into the wall.

It's a tall hallway. Pym glances at James.

"You can't honestly think I'm going to believe you to be genuine, do you?"

Sunfire shakes his head slightly, shifting his balance onto his back foot. "Get some distance from them… Kidd was asking about home… I can get you back. That's what this is about. I was going through their teleporting systems… then this."

"What are—?" Stark's cut off when Sunfire blasts him through another wall.

"In case you haven't noticed, I haven't attacked anyone yet. Now, of course, you've just gone and hurt a member of my team. So, while I'm sorry that I have to do this…"

James reaches out, feeling that his powers are working again, and starts to freeze Pym.

"Tetsujin!"

Sakaki flies in front of the giant hole that Mariah made firing her repulsor blasts at him

"You said that you were okay," Arkas states, landing beside Mariah. "Also, in general, you'll find people slow to assist you when you devour members of their species in front of them."

He grabs her and flies back toward Sunfire.

Re: X-Corps #5 - Anarchy
Post by star on Mar 9, 2008, 10:33pm

"We need a larger space, and reinforcements. We can't fight here — this sector of the complex isn't built to weather this kind of damage. Get us out, Pym." Stark orders, pulling himself back up to his feet — just before he's floored again by Sakaki's blasts.

"Door," Pym says, shrinking again just as he starts icing up. He shuts his eyes for a moment, concentrating — and the blue portal that opens in the air runs through the group, teleporting all of them. The next moment, they appear in the middle of one of Flat Earth's metropolises — Moira would probably recognise it as the one she visited before.

"Pym, you idiot!" Tony raises an arm, firing a repulsor ray at Arkas.

Pym starts growing again, recovering from James' attack with some difficult. "Couldn't think straight… kid…" he swats James into Swan. "Wasn't smart."

Re: X-Corps #5 - Anarchy
Post by Doctor blackmore on Mar 9, 2008, 10:34pm

"I meant relatively speaking. When Iron Man blasts you, not being dead qualifies as okay." I wriggle out of Arkas' grasp, hitting the floor next to the little girl. "Hi."

"Curiouser and curiouser…Alright bystanders! Let's stop bystanding and get to a safe location!"

And then a thud.

…man-eater.

"And take me with you!"

Re: X-Corps #5 - Anarchy
Post by walkerofeternity on Mar 9, 2008, 10:35pm

James goes sailing through the air, striking Swan with a clatter of armor.

"You know… that hurt almost as much as you getting thrown at me…"

James stands up, and glances at the now-gigantic Pym. "Well, crap. I got nothin'"

Turning to Iron Man, James tries to clog the vents of his suit with ice.

Re: X-Corps #5 - Anarchy
Post by Doctor blackmore on Mar 9, 2008, 10:35pm

I catch James and - gently - toss him to the side, running towards Pym and leaping head first into his stomach.

Re: X-Corps #5 - Anarchy
Post by star on Mar 9, 2008, 10:38pm

"Keep them distracted… little while longer…" Sunfire tells them, propping himself up against the side of the nearest building. He clutches his forehead in apparent concentration.

Iron Man slows down for a moment, going down to one knee while his suit starts compensating for it. Pym doubles over from the blow, swatting blindly at Swan.

The people in the streets start panicking — odd, considering they were completely calm a moment ago, even though a super-powered brawl appeared in the middle of the street. They charge towards the two groups in a deranged sort of stampede, a crazed, terrified expression in their eyes despite Moira's entreaties. Moira will notice that the portal is still open, though.

Re: X-Corps #5 - Anarchy
Post by eternalone on Mar 9, 2008, 10:38pm

Arkas gets knocked out of the air and goes skidding along the ground, glad he wasn't too high up. He uses the momentum, tries to roll and flip back to his feet, grimacing all the way and returns fire at Iron Man.

Re: X-Corps #5 - Anarchy
Post by doodleboy on Mar 9, 2008, 10:39pm

Sakaki looks at her arms.

The systems… I can see them, they're like senses. These things are like body parts. They're wired to my brain… Amazing.

She puts 150% power to her repulsor one hand firing at Iron-Man from afar the other firing at Pym.

Re: X-Corps #5 - Anarchy
Post by cheshire on Mar 9, 2008, 10:39pm

"Eep. In there, in there!" Moira points toward the portal. "Go in the portal!"

Re: X-Corps #5 - Anarchy
Post by star on Mar 9, 2008, 10:40pm

Iron Man's suit's adaptation to the ice is impeded even further by Arkas' assault, and he's sent skidding across the ground — until he comes to a halt when he crashes through a nearby tree.

[Apparently, my ability to spell cuts off at about 2.30 AM >_>.]

Re: X-Corps #5 - Anarchy
Post by walkerofeternity on Mar 9, 2008, 10:40pm

Re: X-Corps #5 - Anarchy
Post by star on Mar 9, 2008, 10:44pm

Iron Man — really getting the crap kicked out of him now — is sent even further by Sakaki's blast. He pulls himself shakily up to his feet and fixes his aim on Sakaki.

"Uni-beam. Repulsers. Gravi— @*&£ it, fire it all."

"@*&£ it, fire it all protocol commencing."

A sonic blast, uni-beam and repulsers are all volleyed at the group as a whole. The panicking crowd doesn't really seem to listen to Moira — until the blast hits the group (Swan, James and Moira managing to get free). Then they just stop still, a little confused.

Re: X-Corps #5 - Anarchy
Post by star on Mar 9, 2008, 10:45pm

When Swan and James go through the portal, they come out of it in the middle of something that looks like a very lush jungle — that is, until they look past it and see a jungle city beyond that, and all sorts of animal people around them. They pause to survey James and Swan for a moment, before brushing its strangeness off and moving on.

They're in Narnia — New Wakanda.

Re: X-Corps #5 - Anarchy

Now that they don't look like they're being driven around in a mad frenzy by some crazed bull with flames pouring out of its nostrils, the civilians jump through the portal like Moira says, winding up in Narnia, too. Sunfire jumps through the portal as well.

Once Sunfire's through to the other side, he glances around and breathes a sigh of relief. Before blasting Swan in the back.

"Warning, power battery reserves running at 12%. Recharge commencing."

With that warning, Iron Man drops back slightly.

Re: X-Corps #5 - Anarchy

Once getting her bearings Sakaki makes a break for it to the portal, pouring all powers on boosters.

Re: X-Corps #5 - Anarchy
Post by star on Mar 9, 2008, 10:49pm

Sakaki gets through the portal easily — Iron Man and Pym aren't in much position to stop anyone from going through — for the moment. She gets through just in time to see Sunfire blast Swan.

Re: X-Corps #5 - Anarchy
Post by walkerofeternity on Mar 9, 2008, 10:50pm

"Oh for fuck's sake."

Mariah rushes through portal, starts to run for help - then looks a lot more interested in the civilians and starts chasing after them. "Christmas."

Swan, on the other hand, getting the crap knocked of her as she's blasted through a tree - down, but not out.

Re: X-Corps #5 - Anarchy

"Yes… everyone flee to safety… I'll be along momentarily."

"As soon as it stops being painful to breathe."

Bitching aside, Arkas is (slowly) trying to get to the portal.

Re: X-Corps #5 - Anarchy
Post by star on Mar 9, 2008, 10:54pm

Moira ends up with the rest in New Wakanda.

"You aren't serious, are you?" Sunfire glances at James, and green energy crackles around him, fending off James' attack. The same green energy that possessed Wisdom before. Joy. "I've just had a taste of control again. I'm not relinquishing that. Did you see the fear in their eyes?"

The civilians that came through the portal get the same crazed, terrified expression in their eyes and charge at the animal-people of Wakanda, clawing at them. Biting. Scratching. The animal people fight back — and a huge battle starts between the two groups.

"It was something like that."

Sunfire staggers from Sakaki's blast and glares at her, blasting her back.

In the civilians' current state, Mariah's pretty much got a buffet before her. Easy pickings.

Turning back to the possessed Sunfire, he says. "Look. You're an energy being. Really, really high entropy. You know what I do. I could make you corporeal, e=mc^2 and all that. Make you killable." James is bluffing. He probably couldn't. But the energy doesn't know that.

"Could you, now? Do you want to know what I can do?"

Amaltheia appears in front of James, raking a bone scimitar across his chest. To Swan, Ronalda appears in front of her — blade raised and then dragged across Swan's flesh.

Of course, anyone else can see that no-one's there. That they're not actually taking any physical damage. But James and Ronalda can not only see it — they can feel it.

Sunfire glances at Moira and chuckles quietly. "Trusting your own senses again already? After they were so ready to betray you before? Maybe we can do something about that." Moira's world starts spinning — everyone around her becomes distorted, shadows elongating and engulfing the objects and the people they belong to.

They hear the faint murmur of the word 'door', before Stark and Pym come through another of those blue portals. Iron Man gestures at Sunfire, firing a blast at him. "You brought this cancer to our world."

Re: X-Corps #5 - Anarchy
Post by eternalone on Mar 9, 2008, 11:03pm

Arkas, finally, makes it through the portal and looks around at the new setting and the activities occurring within it.

"Ah. So he's betrayed us then."

Arkas fires a quick burst from his eyes towards the ground at Mariah's feet to grab her attention.

"If you're going to eat people," he points to Sunfire, "then please eat somebody who it would be productive to eat."

There's no physical damage from 'Amaltheia's' attack, but it seems real enough to James. it's thrown back by James' gust, but a bone spikes out through the ground, lancing into his foot.

Sakaki gets up.

"You westerners lack fighting spirit. Never turn your backs on your enemies. Go beyond the impossible and kick reason to the curb! You! Stupid energy. My name is Sakaki Hiroyuki and I will defeat you. REPULSOR BLAST!"

Sakaki fires at Sunfire, all power on repulsor beams.

"Oh, poor James. Don't you know? I bring pain. It's what I do. And I go wherever I can do it." A 'thread' of bones run out of 'Amaltheia's' hand, spiking through James' shoulder.

Sunfire starts driving through the blast, but flesh starts stripping off of his bones. Lightly at first, and then a little bit more with every step. After a moment or two, he drops to a knee and stops moving on. 'Amaltheia' and 'Ronalda' disappear.

Iron Man flies towards the group at full speed. "That's enough! I—" The air cracks open as thunder echoes over it — the skies darkening. Lightning spikes down from the air, lashing out at the ground right in front of Iron Man and throwing him back. Even the warring Wakandans and humans stop and stare up.

But that might not be the brightest thing for the PC's to do, though. Sunfire's back on his feet again. Not actually dead yet — just pretty hurt. Sakaki can see the flesh rebuilding over the bone where she blasted it away — and he returns the favour, a construct hammer swatting her. He tilts his head and glances at Moira.

"The funny thing about telepaths is that they're horrible at picking up emotions. Shift from a thought to an emotion — say, rage or fear — and they can't pick you up at all. Can't pick up any manipulation. I've always found that interesting."

He straightens his neck, firing a blast at Arkas.

"Not that they weren't wrong. They robbed their people of the capacity to feel fear! The chance to experience it! That is a sin within itself."

"Fear and I have a very special relationship. I am Fear, Itself." Sunfire manages to get the words out just before he's flown straight through a tree.

[Shut up, TEO .]

The lightning lances into the ground again — mostly for effect this time — while Thor sets down onto the ground. He stares at Iron Man, rage flowing off of him fluidly. "By your council, I remained aloof from these apparitions. But your council led to this senseless conflict, and I shall abide by it no longer."

Iron Man gives a little shake of his head. "Thor—"

Lightning spikes at Stark's feet yet again. "Wilt thou not rest 'til they warring fever hath wrought madness 'pon thy people and salted these lands?" Thor spins his hammer by the end of its throng, hurling it at Sunfire. It knocks him from the tree into the ground.

"I have seen enow. Send these children back whence they came." Thor holds the hammer over Sunfire, drawing the energy out of him — but by now, apart from the energy, all Sunfire is, is a withered husk. And it doesn't come to quite the effect Thor imagined… free from Sunfire's form, the energy takes this form;

Only, y'know, green. It blasts Thor back.

Re: X-Corps #5 - Anarchy
Post by star on Mar 9, 2008, 11:31pm

Thor rises to his feet — shakes his head off. "Our dispute shall be settled anon, Iron Man." He swings his hammer by the throng, turning to the now solid energy form.

Stark sighs, shaking his head again. "I'm afraid not, Thor. You're too headstrong. You'll only muddle this. I didn't want to do this, but… door." Another one of the blue portals open, and Hercules steps through it — and makes a beeline straight for Thor, slamming him into the ground. That strike alone shakes the entire area.

The arrows punch into greenie without too much effect, but the blasts whittle away on it slightly — driving it back by a small measure, as it starts frosting; but it's a slow process.

As for Moira — well, there's a green demon guy… there are two gods duking it out… there's a winding down Iron Man, there's an unconscious Hank Pym and there's a portal door that's still wide open.

[Well… Gachnar wasn't yellow… .]

James' attack is slowly but surely having its effect — and with every step, Greenie frosts over a bit more. But it's not all too helpful when you have a blast of energy fired at you. Which James does, now.

The repulsor blast puts Hercules off balance long enough for Thor to smack him down — and apparently, out. Thor's attention slides over to Greenie. "What manner of foul beast is this?"

Thor brings down another bolt of lightning - letting it pierce Greenie. It throws him off balance, shifting him into a hammer toss. It's almost enough, but not quite — that's when Sakaki's blast hits, slamming Greenie to the ground and hard.

It whittles off what was left of Greenie's concentration, and his resistance to James' attack fades; he turns to ice, completely.

"Good and evil are human concepts, defined by flawed moralities. In truth, they are meaningless," a deep voice comes from behind all of them. Seriously, it makes James Earl Jones sound like Michael Jackson. If they turn around, they'll see;

He's looking down specifically at Sakaki and Stark. He takes the blade and scabbard from James and glances over it — it's a pretty safe guess that he's the one who puffed Greenie back into that. "It is far from powerless." Then he closes his hand around it, and it disappears.

"Uatu?" Stark asks.

"Not your world's," comes the simple reply. Uatu glances at the X-Patriots and Shadow Corps. "Nor yours. This intersection of your two worlds has lasted for too long — and if it persists, both worlds' destinies shall derail. I have watched here for too long; tarried. I suspect none of you have any objections to returning home?"

They're on a planet that's placed outside all of reality. Time probably isn't an issue.

"By the way, where's Wisdom?" James looks around.

"And would anyone mind if I took a look at this thing? I have to admit, my curiosity is piqued."

Arkas lifts up Sakaki, because somebody has to, and stares at the sword. He gets the feeling that before it's all said and done, they'll have been better off throwing the thing into a black hole.

"We're outside of all reality. Time isn't that much of a concern."

Wisdom has actually been teleported into his quarters where he's quite unconscious. But no-one other than Uatu would know that just this moment.

«Damn… for an supposely apathetic opportunist Arkas is a nice guy… <_<…»

Her metal arm dangles, looks like she's wearing some oversized metal guantlet.

[[Well, if he had something to gain by stabbing Sakaki in the back, that would be another matter entirely.]]
