X-Patriots #13 - Trial Run
Post by Last Hero on Jun 20, 2007, 8:57am

Smasher has pretty much given the team the day off. They had been helping with the repairs on the ship, and running some pretty dull missions the last few days after the Minerva/Atlas incident, so he figured, "R&R!"

The station is pretty much based on Deep Space 9. Places to shop, eat, drink, whatever. Only limit is your imagination :)

Oddly enough, the Juber's lounge is back in operation. Not much else is in any kind of repair, but the lounge…typical. You have to get your own drinks, but the crew has been hanging out there during their breaks. Many of them seem more comfortable there than on the starbase. The Juber has just become home, and since many of them are being moved to different assignments soon, they want to spend as much time there as possible.

Image was everything.

Nicolette had long since neglected it a little, and decided now was the time to work on it. Being well-liked and popular could be useful in many ways. Even if many of the crew would be transfered, they'd never forget her if she played her cards right. Connections were a valuable resource…

She had recently spent time on both the station and the ship, but now it seemed to be time to familiarize herself some more with the crew.

She hovered into the Lounge and over to the bar. After carefully selecting a drink - something that she hadn't had before, yet safe - she hovered back away, towards the tables.

She had memorized quite a few of the crewmen, but simply moved over to a random table.

"Mind if I join you?" she asked with a friendly smile.

«Is this all right?»

I'm sitting here in the lounge when I notice Nico come in. She doesnt come my way…so I don't bother speaking. Then I notice her ordering a drink….does she even drink?

I slam my own…then sit here relaxing. Actually, I'm not really in the mood for company.

«Perfect!»

Sandor smiles at Nic, "I thought you guys had the day off? Don't tell me that instead of having a day of pampering and shopping in a the space station, you decided to sit around with us getting drunk in this dingy, beat up starship?"

Kurn puts a heavy hand on Curt's shoulder, "Here for a rematch, Terran?"

«In case you didn't see it, a while ago, maj and I wrote a fan fic about the team's various encounters with the crew. Curt ended up getting drafted into a Klas’bul game against some of the security team (Kurn is actually on the science team…I messed up). Curt's team won, and the losing team had to do extra kitchen duty that week»

"Why not? It's still home, but random space stations come and go. I'm sure I'll find a little time to spend there anyway."

She had already gotten the opportunity to explore the station a little, and fully intended to hang around there even more. If only her salary was a bit bigger…

«No I didn't see it. What kind of game?»

« Lt. Kris’Turk chimed in, “That C’rt kid is a pretty decent athlete too…”

“We need you!” Kris Turk said in his booming voice that seemed to echo off the walls.

Curt nodded, “Sure! What can I help with?”

Kris’ Turk said, “We need a tenth for a game of Klas’bul. You look like you can run pretty quickly…”

Curt chuckles at that remark, “Uhm…I can, but I have no idea how to play. I’m going to have to pass.”

Kris’Turk smiled, “We can teach you! Come on!” Kris dragged Curt along.

Curt found himself in a game that was one part dodgeball, one part football. In the beginning, he thought he looked ridiculous, but he quickly caught on, using his powers to slow down the ball and speed himself up. His team won when Curt make a last ditch diving effort to score with just a few time units left on the clock.

Kris’Turk smiled, “That kid got us out of kitchen duty for a week.” Another Shi’ar laughed boisterously, “Then he really is a hero! Keeping you away from the kitchen makes life safer for the rest of us.”»

I walk on in, but I feel like I'm in the wrong place at the wrong time - lots of things to drink here, but I don't think I'm allowed to drink all of them.

Re: X-Patriots #13 - Trial Run
Post by Last Hero on Jun 20, 2007, 9:21am

Kurn grunts, "Actually, I don't. Not all of have today off. Not really sure why they need a science officer on a starship that should be tossed in the scrap pile. A week of work, and the only thing in good repair is this lounge…" Kurn tries to scowl, but it's obvious he's really not all that pissed off, and just being his typical surly self.

Kurn takes the drink and sniffs at it, "A bit weak, but thank you." Kurn pulls up a chair and sits down heavily. The chair creaks as if begging for mercy.

Sandor nods, "Of course not! It would just be rude to shatter the dreams of Shi'ar women throughout the empire!"

Re: X-Patriots #13 - Trial Run

"Congratulations! We should drink to that! Bartender?"

Just like before I run to the bar, make two drinks and come back to my seat at superspeed. Most patrons have no clue what's going on.

"There this one should be a little stronger."

My metabolism makes it harder for me to get drunk…still I'm feeling good. I hope it's not too much for Kurn…

«BTW, I have no idea if this was hav's intention, but am I the only one who realizes we've never actually met the captain on panel?»

You found that infinity gem. She petitioned the Tribunal to get the gem back after it vanished, from the Phalanx? world. Tribunal disagreed, feeling that as long as the gem was protected, it really didn't matter who had it. He believed your team was up to keeping it safe."

"Apparently, you did something really dumb with the gem, so Living Tribunal had to shut it off. Warlock says with a cold voice, "If you do that, you are signing their death warrant."

She-Hulk glowers, "Was that a threat?"

"It was good to see you, Mike. Keep in touch."

Kalvin turns to She-Hulk.
