Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jun 24, 2007, 9:15am

Coincidentally enough, Wreck has stolen Blind's former room on the bus, which he never seemed to use to begin with. There's a photo of Kelly on a far desk, a dartboard affixed to one wall (which doesn't seem terribly practical given that the room is on a bus), and…..that's it, really.

Of note is that there are no closets or anything of the sort in the room. What little clothes Wreck owns are kept in a lone suitcase beneath the desk. Also of note is that there is now a large pot resting in a hole in the floor, out of which is starting to grow a banana tree.

"The old days all went bad,
Rotted, wilted black.
Before you'd have a chance to call,
I'll be on the next train home.
Add it to the endless list,
of all the things we'll never ever know."

The quiet singing cuts off as she gets to Wreck's room and knocks three times, somehow managing to fit it into the four beat bar.

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jun 24, 2007, 9:25am

The sudden knocking manages to send one of Wreck's darts a bit too high, embedding itself in the ceiling.

"Man, I'm jumpy. Come in."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jun 24, 2007, 9:26am

Kelly opens the door and walks in. Her eyes go straight to the dart in the ceiling.

"Had a falling out?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jun 24, 2007, 9:31am

"Yes, I decided that darn roof just had it coming. Eat dart, roof."

He hops once, tugging the dart free.

"Either that or my aim is off."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jun 24, 2007, 9:33am

Kelly tilts her head to the side slightly and glances at the dartboard.

"You know, I'm really not sure that our walls are that strong. Be careful with those things, alright? And, um… you might want to move it a little further away from the window."

[Just realised I forgot to change the codename back after AOTT…]

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jun 24, 2007, 9:39am

"I'd hope they are. Tony Stark builds a bus, and it can't take misfired darts?"

Wreck squints one tooth-eye, tosses again and manages a bullseye.

"….sides, I don't seem to miss that often. It's like skeeball, but with pointy things."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jun 24, 2007, 9:41am

"Oh, Tony Stark built the bus?"

She squints slightly, scrunches up her nose too, trying to remember who that is.

"Who's Tony Stark?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jun 24, 2007, 9:48am

"Iron Man. Rich guy in a robot suit on the Avengers. Apparently the group visited his house and Squirrel Girl tried to kill them. I guess he felt badly enough to give us all a bus, or something."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jun 24, 2007, 9:51am

"Oh, right, I've heard of Iron Man. Roxie used to tell me about him. He's an Avenger, right? I've just… never heard of Tony Stark."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jun 24, 2007, 9:55am

"That's his secret identity. Only I guess it isn't a really big secret, considering he didn't really hide it from the group or anything."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jun 24, 2007, 9:57am

"Mm." I pick up a dart, roll it in my hand. "Mind if I try?"

[Yeah, I fell out of third person pretty quickly.]

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jun 24, 2007, 10:07am

"Go for it. I'll just stand over here."

Wreck walks to the door, opens it and stands behind it, using it as a shield.

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jun 24, 2007, 10:09am

"Hey! I'm not that bad at it!"

I hold the dart steady for a few moments, stare at the board… throw the dart… and hit the wall next to it.

"Okay, maybe I am."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jun 24, 2007, 10:15am

"You're good at other stuff. Just takes practice."

Wreck fetches the dart, handing it back.

"I guess I've had too much practice. Um…..shooting things."

He glances off, looking a bit sad.

"Yeah."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jun 24, 2007, 10:18am

I take the dart of grip it, throw it again.

"About that… there's no way you could use something less… violent? Or fatal? Maybe, if you have to use guns, tranquiliser darts or something, instead? It's just… they're so…"

Ceiling.

"That ceiling really won't like us, will it?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jun 24, 2007, 10:22am

"Yeah, it kind of defeats the purpose of me trying to be less of a murdering scumbag when I'm still running around shooting things."

Wreck glances up.

"And that ceiling will just have to learn to adapt."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jun 24, 2007, 10:25am

"I defintely think that tranqs are good. Comparatively. I endorse tranqs. Tranqs are happy to be used. Instead of bullets, and I'm going to take a stance on them and say they're bad."

Another throw. Another miss. A foot above the floor, into the wall.

"So, here's the other thing; What exactly are we doing here? Not just you and me, but us as the whole group. I mean, I get what we're doing right now. We're going and finding Ms. Frost. We've got to. And then we're going to shut down and turn in that Prometheus place so they can't hurt anymore people, right? But… what then? I mean… we haven't even helped anyone yet… Isn't that what this is all about? Having powers? To help people with them, right?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jun 24, 2007, 10:34am

"I think we helped out those people back in the weirdo town. Mean….just judging by the position they were in before we got there, we did a very good thing."

Wreck fetches the darts.

"Other than that, we've sort of been derailed by having to run all of the time. We tried to help out that oddball robot kid, and had SHIELD chase us all the way to California. Then stupid Prometheus and their stupid demon things. We….well, we haven't really had a chance to even try to help anyone SINCE the robot kid. Other people won't get off our backs."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jun 24, 2007, 10:37am

"Robot kid?"

The dart goes again. Hits the rim of the target.

"Hey, I got the board! I hit the board!" I jump up and down jubilantly, and then catch myself. "Oh… that's not something to be that proud of, is it?"

I shale my head and get the dart.

"And we don't even know what happened in that town… have you tried speaking to Mr. Banner about it?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jun 24, 2007, 10:43am

"Sure it is. Given that you were hitting the roof a second ago, you're improving at an astounding rate."

He shakes his head.

"And I tend to annoy people really easily. Hanging around the guy who turns into Hulk when he gets annoyed seems like a really bad idea."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jun 24, 2007, 10:45am

"He did seem a little grumpy earlier…"

Ceiling again.

"Darn it! Anyway… someone needs to ask him. Everything just went all white. And then we woke up on the bus. Doesn't that seem weird? Unless he finished things up for us. Do you think he finished things up?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jun 24, 2007, 10:53am

"Try not to take such huge throws. It's a dart, not a baseball. Flick it."

Wreck blinks.

"All I know is it looked like those people were suffering pretty horribly. Like, whatever that thing was…..was EATING them. Then I think we got eaten too. Cept it burped us up. Not sure how we got back on the bus, but I'm not complaining."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jun 24, 2007, 10:54am

Another throw. No, not a throw, a flick. Kind of. Lands point down, right in front of my foot.

"Is this one of those things where it's best just not to think of it or I'll get a massive headache, and just more confused?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jun 24, 2007, 10:57am

"The darts or the stuff with the town?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jun 24, 2007, 10:58am

"The town. The darts are just for fun. Or, at least, they might be when I get the hang of it."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jun 24, 2007, 11:05am

"Oh. I think that's about all there is to it, really. Whatever that thing was, I'm pretty sure it blew up. Which is very much for the best. Here, wait a sec."

Wreck stands behind Kelly and holds her hand with a dart in it.

"Just try to look at where the dart's going before you throw it. Make sure it's pointed in the right direction, then let go when you're sure that it's not going to fly through a neighbor's window. Even though we don't have neighbors."

He flicks her hand, making another bullseye.

'…..see?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jun 24, 2007, 11:15am

"I'm still not that comfortable with not even knowing what it was, but I guess there's not really anything to be done for that."

I try to repeat what Wreck did. Hits the rim again.

"Mm… I kind of need to get a hold of some BMAT books."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jun 24, 2007, 11:21am

"Hm. I guess if we're going after these Prometheus goons, we could try to find out from them. They sent the first demon thing after us. It stands to reason they were probably behind the second."

He glances around.

"…..and it doesn't really help that we're on a moving bus. You're actually doing pretty good, given the circumstances."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jun 24, 2007, 11:24am

"Says the guy getting bullseyes. This whole 'being on the run from SHIELD' thing is kind of annoying. It's going to make getting a good BMAT score pretty hard," I sigh.

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jun 24, 2007, 11:27am

"I'm still not really even sure why they're after us in the first place. It's like Hill just randomly decided to go 'Hey, I haven't fulfilled my powermad jerk quotient for this month. Let's go hunt down some kids'."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jun 24, 2007, 11:29am

"I thought Nick Fury was in charge of SHIELD," I ask with a little frown. "At least, I'm sure someone at the mansion told me that."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jun 24, 2007, 11:33am

Wreck abruptly pauses, scratching his head.

"……y'know, yeah. Back during our first mission, he certainly was in charge of stuff, since he was the one who came down and yelled at us for messing up his precious demonic bear. Now he's not? What happened?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jun 24, 2007, 11:34am

"Demon Bear? How many demons have you fought now??"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jun 24, 2007, 11:38am

"Um, him. And Mephisto obviously. And Blackheart. That was it, till I joined this crew. Now we seemed to have doubled that number in about a week."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jun 24, 2007, 11:51am

"And everyone on Gen X has gone to a couple of different hells, and Alexander told me that the Hellions met Gargoyles and fought zombies before… you know, before, the Hellions… well, actually, we didn’t do much of anything…"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jun 24, 2007, 11:56am

"That's probably for the best. I think I'd rather do nothing than have to watch Blackheart play Twister."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jun 24, 2007, 11:57am

"Twister? You played twister with Blackheart?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jun 24, 2007, 12:02pm

"I didn't. Honestly, I don't remember what I was doing, other than that I tried to teleport away and ended up in the middle of space. And then some ghosts laughed at me."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jun 24, 2007, 12:04pm

"That sounds… creepy. What happened then…?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jun 24, 2007, 12:07pm

"Um, I asked them nicely to stop haunting us. They said they were still on the clock and didn't get off work for another few hours. So I just kind of went back inside."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jun 24, 2007, 12:10pm

"… Eep."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jun 24, 2007, 12:15pm

"So yeah, eventually Blackheart showed up and Amelia played him at Twister for our souls. She won. Oh yeah, and I'm pretty sure I met the ghost of Jim Henson."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jun 24, 2007, 12:22pm

"Who's Jim Henson?" I ask with a quizzical tilt of my head.

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jun 24, 2007, 12:32pm

"The guy who created the Muppets. Man, your memory really is kablooey."

Wreck kisses her forehead.

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jun 24, 2007, 12:34pm

"My memory's fine, I just don't have any idea who that is."

I throw anyother dart before giving up and going to lie down on the floor next to the bed. It hits the wall next to the board.

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jun 24, 2007, 12:38pm

"You should try again once we aren't on a speeding bus."

He sits down next to her, staring up at the roof.

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jun 30, 2007, 5:31pm

Knock. Been doing a lot of that.

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jun 30, 2007, 5:37pm

Wreck manages to stop himself from misthrowing a dart at the sound of the knocking, holding it tight in his hand.

"Aha, gotcha that time. Come in."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jun 30, 2007, 5:38pm

Kelly pushes the door open and walks in, giving him a look of curiousity.

"Were you… talking to yourself?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jun 30, 2007, 5:39pm

"Nope. Was talking to a dart. There's a difference."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jun 30, 2007, 5:40pm

The look doesn't shift.

"Uhm… is it any more healthy?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jun 30, 2007, 5:41pm

"I think it's perfectly normal. So long as I don't expect the darts to speak back, which I don't."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jun 30, 2007, 5:45pm

"Well, if you say so."

Kelly skips into the room.

"I heard some things in the town today - going to go check it out. It's cramped in here and it's a great day outside. Something about a 'Thing' out in the woods, seen in the clearing, burning something. It was big and green like. Want to come?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jun 30, 2007, 5:49pm

"Huh, really? Last time I remember seeing Thing was that poker game where Alexia threw up on herself."

Wreck tosses the rest of the darts in his hand at once, somehow managing three bullseyes at once.

"Okie dokie. Lead the way, pretty lady."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jun 30, 2007, 5:52pm

"No, no, I said 'a Thing', not 'the Thung'. Big and green, not orange and rocky. I'm going later.

[Here, incidentally.]

A thought occurs to Kelly; something that she had been curious about since she had been roped into that spar by Kee'an.

"Hey… in what way would it help the team if I fought someone half naked?" she asks, completely oblivious to how odd that sounds.

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jun 30, 2007, 5:54pm

Wreck blinks with a series of clicks.

"Well, I guess it could serve to distract someone. That's…..probably the weirdest thing I've ever heard you say."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jun 30, 2007, 5:56pm

"It was? Why?"

She lies down on the floor and stares at the ceiling.

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jun 30, 2007, 5:58pm

"Well, you don't seem to be a fan of getting naked, given past experiences. It's pretty random."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jun 30, 2007, 5:59pm

"I'm not. Modesty and dignity and everything else that I've said a few times before. So it wouldn't help in any other way?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jun 30, 2007, 6:01pm

"Um, not really. Although it would be a mighty distraction, we only have one other girl on the team. So it'd probably be more distracting for our side."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jun 30, 2007, 6:02pm

[Three. Jesse, Torrance and Valerie.]

"Oh. I think Kee'an lied to me, then. I hate being lied to."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jun 30, 2007, 6:08pm

[Yeah, but I'm pretty sure the only one he ever actually saw on the team was Jesse <_<]

"Doesn't surprise me. Between that and Shaman constantly slipping drugs in your drinks…..um, what did he tell you?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jun 30, 2007, 6:11pm

"That was my fault. I assumed that it was just tea. I should have asked when he offered it."

She shuts her eyes, tired of staring at the ceiling.

"Uhm… let me remember. He told me something about… fighting naked helping the team - and told me that I wouldn't actually have to fight naked and that I could wear underwear, and he said 'you do want to help the team, right?' and… some other stuff that I can't remember."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jun 30, 2007, 6:15pm

Silence for a moment.

"Oh. I'm gonna punch him in the face the next time I see him. Hope you don't mind."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jun 30, 2007, 6:16pm

"Please don't."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jun 30, 2007, 6:18pm

Wreck shrugs, then looks off.

"We're surrounded by scumbags on this team. And Jesse and Cadmus, who seem surprisingly well adjusted."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jun 30, 2007, 6:20pm

"They're not that bad."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jun 30, 2007, 6:22pm

"We've got one who tried to trick you into getting naked for him and another who's tried to drug you twice. How is that not bad?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jun 30, 2007, 6:26pm

"Twice? He only did it once. And… I fought Kee'an in my underwear. He told me it would help the team, somehow. I don't get why he would lie about that, though."

"And, well… I'm sure there's a reason for why they do that, and they could be better."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jun 30, 2007, 6:28pm

"Because he wanted to see you in your underwear, I imagine."

Wreck holds his forehead.

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jun 30, 2007, 6:30pm

She gives a confused sigh that translates in her expression, too.

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jun 30, 2007, 6:33pm

"He's a pervert."

And I'm so going to punch him for it.

"Least the others aren't quite as bad. Darya gives me the impression of someone who's trying really hard to play a jerk, but really just isn't dealing with things all that well."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 1, 2007, 8:12am

"Darya! She's really nice, but… yeah, what you said about dealing with things. She's a little too angry. It can't be good for her."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jul 1, 2007, 8:41am

"Probably needs a friend, but is way too stubborn to ever admit that."

Wreck looks down at the floor.

"Not that that sounds familiar or anything," he mutters.

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 1, 2007, 8:49am

"No, not at all, does it?" she laughs.

"Well… she doesn't need to. I'm pretty sure that you're right… and so long as she's here, she'll get friends, even if she won't admit she needs some."

Re: Wreck's Hovel

"See, so long as we can all stay out of jail, everything's gonna work out fine."

Re: Wreck's Hovel

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jul 1, 2007, 9:12am

"Not a thing. But I don't think she cares much. Probably just wants a promotion and is perfectly willing to frame us to do it."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 1, 2007, 9:15am

"No, she wouldn't do that. She wouldn't be in that position of power if she would. And anyway, she'd need proof to do it."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jul 1, 2007, 9:19am

"She's not a very nice person. Mean, she's friends with Rosewell. What does this tell you?"

Wreck sighs and scoops up his darts.

"And honestly, I wonder what she did to Nick Fury. Mean, I don't particularly like him either, but I'll feel pretty rotten if Hill has him locked in a cage somewhere."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 1, 2007, 9:21am

"Does it mean that Ms. Rosewell's tricked her? Or… that she's confused or something? I don't know. Isn't Nick Fury really tough, though? I don't think that Ms. Hill could do anything to him."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jul 1, 2007, 9:27am

"She apparently has the Avengers running around, doing everything she says. I have no real idea why, but yeah…..it's not a real stretch to think she did something bad to him. He may need help."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 1, 2007, 9:29am

"Oh… but how would we help him?"

She looks to the side, trying to take it in.

"That's… odd… if she's got the Avengers working for her, how come we haven't run into them yet?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jul 1, 2007, 9:34am

"No clue. Mean, according to Banner, Iron Man shut down our bus. Then they just kind of forgot about us and the Thunderbolts were sent after us instead."

Wreck tosses a dart for a bullseye. Then tries for a second, but it bounces straight off of the first.

"……dang. Not like it works in Robin Hood."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 1, 2007, 9:36am

"Darn… question is, what do we do? Uhm… would we be able to go straight to them? Maybe Mr. Banner could keep them busy, we could try to free Mr. Fury?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel

Re: Wreck's Hovel

"Yeah, yeah I think we should. We really need to get our side of the story out to someone. As is, no one knows what happened there but us."

"That….thing, whatever it was, attacked us. We did the reasonable thing and defended ourselves, since, y'know, we have no vested interest in being eaten."

Wreck sighs as well.

"After that it gets blurry. But I'm pretty sure it did in fact eat us. And then the next thing I know, we were all out cold and the town was gone."

He blinks.

"…..which means we could not have done it, since I'm fairly certain we were….um….dead at the time. Or something close to it."

Re: Wreck's Hovel

"Dead?

Well, two, maybe three times is still nothing on you." A hand goes straight to her mouth as she covers it, embarrassed. "I mean… I didn't mean to say that.

Hm. Let's go do that, then."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jul 1, 2007, 10:19am

"I've lost track, but I'm pretty sure I have to be nearing the thousands by now. Pathetic, really."

Wreck shakes his head.

"Anyway, yeah. Let's do it."

Re: Wreck's Hovel

[I've got to quickly take care of something. Could you do the post?]

Re: Wreck's Hovel

[Figures. I have to take off, like, right now <_<]

[Back in an hour]

Re: Wreck's Hovel

[Back.]

"Uhm… what would we actually tell him, though?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel

"That we didn't actually blow up a town would be a decent start."

Re: Wreck's Hovel

"That's a point. Would you like to do the honours?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel

"Sure. Though you're welcome to join me. Everyone thinks I'm crazy. And they're probably right."

[Where is this going? Crossteam?]

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 1, 2007, 11:16am

"I think some of them think me crazy too… either way, we should probably just get it sent."

[Yeah >_>.]

Re: Wreck's Hovel

[A little later, presumable when Wreck walks back after making the call.]

"Any luck?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jul 1, 2007, 12:50pm

"Sort of. I got through to Damien. Told him what happened, then he said he was going to tell Rogue about it. Then the line died."

Wreck sighs.

"They're probably gonna be back to following us now. But we had to let someone know we didn't do this."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 1, 2007, 12:52pm

Ignoring the fact that she has no idea who the person he got through to is…

"Well, at least you made it through. That means that they can send someone to help, right? The Professor can use Cerebro to find us."

I could always try Gen X, too. It would be… something, at least.

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jul 1, 2007, 12:57pm

"This is what I'm hoping for. I think we should probably start heading back in their direction. If we must hide out, we probably stand a better chance of hiding out at the mansion than on the bus."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 1, 2007, 1:01pm

"That's probably the best idea. I guess there's always the chance we'd be cut off before, but they'd also be heading to us, right?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jul 1, 2007, 1:04pm

"Yup. It's either try to meet them halfway, or stay here and fight off attacks for the next sixty years. I'm way in favor of the first."

Re: Wreck's Hovel

"I'm in favour of the route that means as little fighting as possible."

Re: Wreck's Hovel

"Me too, actually. It's one thing fighting for a reason. We're just being picked on."

Re: Wreck's Hovel

"So we should tell Ms. Petrovna, right? I mean, technically, she said that she's just here to protect us until Prometheus falls, and Mr. Banner's just here because she requested his help. That means… well, that means we get to make the choice, right?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jul 1, 2007, 1:21pm

Wreck runs a hand along his face in exasperation.

"Yeah, we do need to stop them first. Mainly because they have Emma. Ugh, I don't really know what to do…..we can't just leave her with them….."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 1, 2007, 1:26pm

"No, of course we can't leave Emma with them! But wouldn't we be able to get her more quickly with help from the Mansion?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel

Re: Wreck's Hovel

"Who?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jul 1, 2007, 1:45pm

"Laynia. If she really wants to go after the guys who killed her friends that badly, she probably won't be very happy if we try and slow her down by getting back to the mansion first."

Wreck blinks.

"Or maybe she'd be really happy since Xavier can track them down faster than we could ever hope to. I have no idea."

Re: Wreck's Hovel

"Vengeance really isn’t as important as saving Ms. Frost."

Re: Wreck's Hovel

"Well, we have to speak to her about it at any rate."

Re: Wreck's Hovel

"Um, come in?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel

Kelly pushes the door open, looking at Wreck through slightly tired eyes.

"Uhm… I slipped. That was my head."

Sure enough, there’s an imprint on the door in the shape of the top of her head.

He kisses her head.

"What's up?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 3, 2007, 3:08pm

"I’m just a little tired. I’ve been trying to finally get a handle on my empathy. Shaman’s helping me with it. My end on the bits that I do on my own has been opening up and trying to filter through and blank out all the emotions in the state without just shutting the empathy off… and listening to the Little Mermaid soundtrack while doing it. It helps."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 3, 2007, 3:16pm

"Well, that’s yet to be seen. I don’t know if I can get a handle on it, to be honest. I’m not sure it’s in me. But he said we had to start with my true fear, and move from there… that’s what we did yesterday. Sorta, kinda."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jul 3, 2007, 3:24pm

"So I take it that means you know what your true fear is?"

Wreck looks away, shifting his gaze to the floor with a halfhearted smile.

"It took me awhile to catch onto mine."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 3, 2007, 3:29pm

"I don’t know…. I don’t know if I could call it a ‘fear’…" she tells him, looking up at him a little blankly.

Re: Wreck's Hovel

"What would you call it?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 3, 2007, 3:37pm

"I don’t know…" she glances down, her gaze trailing the floor, before looking back up at him. "He said it was survivor’s guilt. That’s not really a fear, is it? I don’t know what that is."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jul 3, 2007, 3:42pm

Wreck seems a little taken aback. For a moment, then it fades as quickly.

"That's a little hard to describe. It's just….guilt, really. Nothing to be afraid of, unless you fear it happening again."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 3, 2007, 3:50pm

"I don‘t know…"

Yes. She does. She just won’t admit it to herself.

"Why were you all… double take-y?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel

Silence for a moment.

"…..it's stupid. Not important."

Re: Wreck's Hovel

"No, it is. What is it?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jul 3, 2007, 4:02pm

"Eh. Just that this is one of the things I really am afraid of. Mean, like….I'm pretty well immortal, but no one else I care about is. So what happens if something bad happens? I'd be alive, but….well, I'd lose everything. And then I'd be alone."

Wreck hangs his head.

"…..like I said, stupid. But I am afraid of it."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 3, 2007, 4:03pm

She leans side on, into him, putting herself into his arms.

"It’s not stupid. But you’re not alone. You never will be. Look at your band… you never will be."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jul 3, 2007, 5:54pm

"Yeah. I wasn't kidding when I said that was the nicest thing anyone had ever done for me."

Wreck gives her a kiss.

"Cause it was. And it still is."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 3, 2007, 5:56pm

She returns the kiss and bumps her head lightly into his chest.

"Not alone. Don't forget that. Promise me you won't."

Re: Wreck's Hovel

He hugs her close.

"I promise. And you either. You'll never have to be alone."

Re: Wreck's Hovel

"Good," she says softly into his chest. "I couldn't stand to be alone."

A sensation runs through her head like a hot poker and she flinches back slightly.

"What's wrong? Tell me."

Re: Wreck's Hovel

"I don't want to hear it!" she shouts at nothing in particular.

"It isn't worth it! This stupid empathy isn't worth handling! I could just shut it off!"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jul 3, 2007, 6:27pm

"You could. If that's what you want."

Wreck backs off, slumping down to the floor next to the bed.

"If it's hurting you, stop doing it. Simple enough."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 3, 2007, 6:33pm

"Dysthymia. Generally milder in the short term than clinical depression, but the effects are much more long term, and those suffering from it are much more likely to commit suicide. Once a chronic dysthymic state has set it, it's very difficult to break, and usually, the sufferer falls into a routine that seems to ease the feelings but only propagate it, furthering a self-destructive cycle that too often ends in suicide. The odd thing is, one burst of elation is sometimes all it takes to break a dysthymic state. It isn't that simple, Wreck. It doesn't matter if it's hurting me."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jul 3, 2007, 6:38pm

Wreck looks on blankly.

"Um, yeah. I was referring to your empathy, or at least I thought that was what we were talking about. I had no idea you were depressed."

Re: Wreck's Hovel

Re: Wreck's Hovel

Wreck nods.

"Y'know, I had a conversation revolving around this with Marisol right before I left."

"Then you know exactly what I mean, right?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel

"Of course I do. Mean, look at me. Every time I use my powers, I break up on a subatomic level. Do you have any idea how much that hurts?"

He puts a hand to his eyes.

"But I keep on doing it. Because not doing it and letting someone else hurt instead would be incredibly selfish."

Re: Wreck's Hovel

Kelly flinches a little, almost imperceptibly so, when he describes his power.

"Exactly!"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jul 3, 2007, 7:02pm

Wreck shakes his head.

"But on a purely selfish level, I just don't want to see you hurt. I love ya. That sort of thing just sucks, y'know?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 3, 2007, 7:07pm

"I know what you mean."

Specifically, whenever she sees him teleport.

"But it's something that we've got to do. I just wish I didn't have to hear her, but I'll get a handle on it. I think."

"….buh? Hear who?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 3, 2007, 7:09pm

And that's an example of saying and thinking of too many things, and letting something slip out.

She sighs and sits down on the bed.

"Earth."

Re: Wreck's Hovel

Wreck raises an eyebrow, then scoots up onto the bed.

"…..alright, you're gonna have to elaborate on that one. Earth?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 3, 2007, 7:12pm

She leans back, lying on the bed and staring at the ceiling.

"I'm not sure how to. Spirit of? Mother? All I know is that she's really, really mad."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jul 3, 2007, 7:16pm

After a moment, Wreck slaps his forehead lightly.

"I'm sorry, first thing that came to mind."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 3, 2007, 7:21pm

She smiles lightly.

"I can't speak with her. Only feel the emotions. And that's just because it's so strong, and through Shaman, I think. He said that it was because of what's happening in the world. Really, it's understandable then, to an extent."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jul 3, 2007, 7:24pm

Wreck sighs and takes Kelly's hand, squeezing it.

"I wish I knew where to start."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 5, 2007, 4:37am

"They can’t do that!"

Re: Wreck's Hovel

"Nope. That's why we need to keep fighting them. It's not right at all."

"But if we let them go, they'll come straight back again after us. This is how Laynia got shot."

He sighs.

"…..look, I don't want to hang onto them for good. Or even very long. I do however want to keep them under wraps until this mess is sorted, since I don't feel like fighting them every time SHIELD decides they should come back and shoot at us some more."

Re: Wreck's Hovel

"Usually, I'd agree. Mainly because we could count on the legal system not being topsy turvy and crazy people like them getting what they should get. But for now, I don't think it would be very good to just let them go, since it would just mean they come straight back at us. Then we keep fighting, and I hate fighting. Fighting stinks."

Re: Wreck's Hovel

Kelly buries her face in her hands.

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jul 5, 2007, 4:22pm

Wreck is silent for a moment. Then he walks over and gives her a hug.

"It's all gonna be fine. It always is. You should probably rest, though. It can't be easy…..doing…..whatever it is you've been doing lately with the empathy stuff."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 5, 2007, 4:25pm

She lifts her head out of her hands and beams.

"I know it is. I just don't know how, yet, but I know that it will be. Like I said, we're innocent, so nothing bad can happen to us. Uhm… I mean nothing irrevocably bad."

She moves to get up, but then thinks twice about it and stays where she is.

"Is it alright if I just stay here tonight? It's noisy in my room. And it'll be noisy here, too… but it won't be noisy while I'm alone."

After the Nightmare mission, Wreck still hasn't returned to his room. However, strangely enough, Blind now sits dead in the center of it. A journal is in his hand, and he traces his fingers rapidly over the pages.

"…..you actually took notes. How wonderfully cliche."

Re: Wreck's Hovel

Not bothering to knock, Kelly walks right in… and freezes as soon as she sees Blind.

"… Blind?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Siamko "Blind" Vasiliev on Jul 9, 2007, 5:21pm

Not surprisingly, Blind doesn't seem surprised at all.

"Greetings, Ms. Thorley. How does the saying go? Long time no chat."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 9, 2007, 5:24pm

Of course, Kelly is surprised. Very.

"Blind?"

She runs to him and latches on in a hug.

"Oh my god, how are you here?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Siamko "Blind" Vasiliev on Jul 9, 2007, 5:27pm

He makes no move to return the hug. Or even look up from his book.

"Let us just say that I am often in many places at once. Or more accurately, I move about often, and my journeys take me to odd places."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 9, 2007, 5:28pm

"I don’t think I understand."

Not a big surprise there. There’s a great deal that the girl doesn’t understand. She steps back gingerly from Blind.

"You feel a little… cold."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Siamko "Blind" Vasiliev on Jul 9, 2007, 5:32pm

"I discovered an odd device at the estate. Confounded me, really. And so I simply decided to make a little trip, and search for clues. As I certainly do not enjoy being confounded."

His expression does not shift.

"My apologies for not saying hello earlier. I am easily distracted. Constantly seeing things I shouldn't, and hearing things I shouldn't. A nuisance, really."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 9, 2007, 5:35pm

"I can understand not liking confusion, but an odd device? Like what?"

Strangely enough, she doesn’t seem too concerned about the last part of what he said.

Re: Wreck's Hovel

"A skull on a walking stick. Isn't that simply peculiar?"

Silence, except for the flipping of the pages of the book.

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 9, 2007, 5:39pm

"Oh, no… you didn’t bring that with you, did you? You really shouldn’t, not that skull! You shouldn't- you shouldn't have anything to do with it!"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Siamko "Blind" Vasiliev on Jul 9, 2007, 5:41pm

"Of course not. It refuses to follow me, or even speak to me at length. As I noted, it is quite confounding."

Flip.

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 9, 2007, 5:42pm

"Well, that’s good! You shouldn’t even be speaking with it at all! That skull… it’s something really horrible. It should have been shown to Dr. Strange or something, already!"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Siamko "Blind" Vasiliev on Jul 9, 2007, 5:45pm

"The world is full of simply horrible things. Is it not our job to watch them, and see that they do no harm?"

Flip….and then Siamko stops, holding a page still.

"Hm. More to this thing than I realized."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 9, 2007, 5:46pm

"Exactly! Dr. Strange can do that! And there's more to it? Less is good enough! What's the more?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Siamko "Blind" Vasiliev on Jul 9, 2007, 5:50pm

He holds the book up.

"What we have here is a diary of sorts. Wreck was apparently keeping it during his possession. About what you'd expect, really. Insane ramblings, written in a sort of demented code. Truly the work of a madman."

And lowers it again, opening the book immediately to the page he was on.

"Or so it seemed. Upon further inspection, he kept detailed notes on how the object functioned."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 9, 2007, 5:53pm

"A diary on how it worked?"

Kelly moves over to the book, trying to catch a glimpse of what’s written.

"You can’t be serious! Why would he do something like that?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Siamko "Blind" Vasiliev on Jul 9, 2007, 5:56pm

"The way the script continuously shifts, it would appear he was floating between himself and the other personality. It would take closer inspection to truly decipher who was penning what."

An distant smile crosses Blind's face.

"And then he continued to use the remainder of the book as a diary, long afterward. This is where I stopped just now. Although it isn't much better reading."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 9, 2007, 5:58pm

"A diary?"

She tries to catch a glimpse again, suddenly more curious.

"What did he write?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Siamko "Blind" Vasiliev on Jul 9, 2007, 6:03pm

"Wouldn't that be snooping?"

For a very bizarre moment, Blind appears to stifle a giggle. But it fades just as quickly, as he shakes his head.

"I lied a bit. It's really quite fascinating, in a terrible way….the boy is clinically depressed."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 9, 2007, 6:04pm

"Depressed?"

The words come out a bit flatly, and for a moment, she seems slightly indifferent.

"Why?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Siamko "Blind" Vasiliev on Jul 9, 2007, 6:11pm

"Why? Why is anyone depressed, Ms. Thorley? They are not happy with their circumstances, and feel they have no one to turn to. No one to speak to. I would imagine that is why this book exists. No other method of expression available."

Blind looks off to a far wall of the room. As usual, it's quite impossible to tell what he's looking at.

"He keeps it remarkably well buried. I daresay beneath a wall of lunacy. He thinks it better to be insane than to be sad. Feels less guilt, that way."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 9, 2007, 6:14pm

"I don't understand," she says in that same, slightly flat tone. "What is there to be guilty about in it?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Siamko "Blind" Vasiliev on Jul 9, 2007, 6:16pm

"Because he wants to do good, by you and the world. But mainly by you."

Blind looks to the book again, shutting it with a thud.

"Wants to make you happy. Isn't that….pathetic?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 9, 2007, 6:19pm

I arc an eyebrow.

Sure, I don't have as much personal experience with him as I could. Even saying that much is an exaggeration of what I do have. But I know enough to get annoyed, and the one thing that I've always hated is allusions, while tip-toeing around a point.

It's just… damn irritating, and that's all.

"Not entirely so, no."

[Hate third person.]

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Siamko "Blind" Vasiliev on Jul 9, 2007, 6:26pm

"To put it bluntly, the boy has gone so far as to suppress his own emotions, just in an effort to make you feel better. A monumental task, and one that likely is breaking what little sanity he has left."

Blind turns to Kelly, his expression about as blank as ever.

"And all of that effort, to waste. As I said. Pathetic."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 9, 2007, 6:30pm

Well, at least there's less tip-toeing.

Always irritating, that.

He's getting closer to the point, finally… I wonder how much longer he'll continue to drawl on for before he actually gets there. Maybe I should have bets placed.

"Getting warmer, but you're not quite boiling yet."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Siamko "Blind" Vasiliev on Jul 9, 2007, 6:33pm

"Warmer? To mix my allegories, I believe I hit the nail on the head."

He shrugs.

"Perhaps I was slightly off. To cheat with Mr. Drummond, after not only what the boy has gone through on your behalf, but your own circumstances as well? You, Ms. Thorley, are pathetic."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 9, 2007, 6:37pm

"No, see, that's where you're wrong. No nail, no head." I smile. I can't help it. "It's not really cheating, anyway, but that's not the point. You're not quite there… but I doubt you'll ever get there without me telling you, and…. well, that would just ruin the point, wouldn't it? Master psychologist like yourself. You have to get there on your own, otherwise it's just… disappointing."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Siamko "Blind" Vasiliev on Jul 9, 2007, 6:41pm

"I should think it obvious that I know very little about people….Kelly. That is the point. That has always been the point."

He shrugs.

"So then. Are you going to inform me, or is my next step to inform Wreck, who no doubt will set out to murder Mr. Drummond?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 9, 2007, 6:44pm

"Kelly, hm? How quaint."

There's a joke in his use of it, but I'm not going to make it. Partially because it would be far too easy.

"Why Siamko… your next step? By all means, don't allow me to dictate it. Where is Wreck, anyway?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Siamko "Blind" Vasiliev on Jul 9, 2007, 6:48pm

"Why, outside of the door, of course."

The door opens, and Wreck steps through, his expression completely unreadable.

"Tata."

And off Blind vanishes. The book going with him, of course.

Re: Wreck's Hovel

Hm.

I think the word that might sum up this situation best would be 'shit'.

Re: Wreck's Hovel

Very quietly, Wreck walks over and sits on the edge of the bed.

"……so. Dillon. You and Dillon. Huh."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 9, 2007, 6:54pm

Well, that would be a simplification of something considerably less simple. Saying these words might bring more trouble than they're worth, just in explanation's worth.

There are things that are, for this second, not the next, more simple, and more entertaining.

"Blind seems to know more than I do."

"I don't particularly know Blind very well at all. Why don't you tell me?"

"You know him better than I do. All I know is what I've heard. And as for that… why don't you… guess. You'll probably be able to get more that way, than through-" I break into theatrical sobbing "- I'm so sorry… I didn't mean to… It was- it was just- I couldn't-" The sobbing cuts off.

"Know what I mean?"

Very hastily, I stop scratching.

"No, that's true, I haven't."

"See, that's a problem right there!" I hop out of my seat and slap the arm rest. It dissipates.

This is more fun than I thought it would be.

A pair of blinks, a pair of clicks.

"Who are you…..are you Kelly?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 10, 2007, 5:27am

"Care about what?"

I pause for a moment. Not because I'm thinking about the answer. I don't need to. But because I like dramatic pauses.

"Who am I? That's an odd question to ask. Who else would I be? I've been here all along in front of you… I'm the only person I can be. All there is to it, all there is to it… it's all very simple, but you can't see it."

I get up from where I'm sitting (because, well… sitting's boring) and take a look out of the window.

"I think I'm the only one out of all of us that can… it's not about knowing more than each other or anyone else, or even anything more than the drab reasoning of having met it all before. A void, an end… it's all very much the same, though, isn't it?"

A short laugh.

"Oops. Looks like I broke the rules, too!"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jul 10, 2007, 5:33am

"Care about everything ending. As horribly corny as it sounds, you are my everything. So if you're gone, it's over in any case. Who cares about existence?"

Wreck's head hangs, but he doesn't appear to be particularly sad. Still blank.

"And it isn't really an easy question at all, is it? There have been two yous. There have been two mes. Which one is which? Did we get lost along the way?"

"Sorry (I say that, but I’m not really), but you’re getting things mixed up again. There’s only ever been one me. Two yous, maybe."

The window starts boring me – I see the same thing rolling over in every direction; disaster. I’ve seen enough of that. I know it inside out. And though I relish in it, the image bores me slightly. I turn away from it.

"But is it a bit of a muddle? Who’s on your inside, who’s on your outside? Who’s truly free, fooling the other, running them round and round and over and over again?"

"How soon the nightmares end. I don’t think any of us have an answer for that, do you? No… no, probably not. It’s much easier being unaware, anyway. Blink, and it’s not really there."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jul 10, 2007, 9:12am

"Oh, that's an easy one. The nightmares end when you stop letting yourself be scared of them. Nightmares are in your head, and your head is yours. No matter how screwed up it gets."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 10, 2007, 9:13am

I arc an eyebrow, considering that for a moment. I only give it a moment, though.

"It’s cute that you think it’s that simple."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jul 10, 2007, 9:17am

"Not really simple at all. Mean, most people go through their whole lives unable to get a grip on their own brain. God knows I'm a living example of that. But on the other hand, it's really simple. So simple that it's horribly easy to overlook. Like searching a whole day for keys that are right in front of you."

A light gauntlet forms slowly around my arm and then a blade suddenly appears on the end. I slice the top of his head off and take some of his brain out, getting a grip on it.

"That wasn’t so hard."

Re: Wreck's Hovel

Having received a picture perfect lobotomy, Wreck merely sits there, saying absolutely nothing. But looking very sad all the same.

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 10, 2007, 9:23am

I hold out the part of his brain for him to see, smiling sweetly.

"See? What you suggested is really, very simple."

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jul 10, 2007, 9:27am

Quite dramatically, the sky abruptly darkens. A bolt of lightning crashes straight through the roof of the room, striking Wreck. With a mind numbing cry of pain, he extends his arms and flops backwards onto the bed.

Then calmly sits up again, tilting his head at an odd angle. When next he speaks, his voice has shifted pitch into something resembling the Cryptkeeper.

"Oh ho ho. Couldn't fight me without a brain to think with, could he? Thank you for that."

"Brought it on yourself, silly cow. The boy may be nuts, but he hasn't ever lied to you. Not even when you really, really deserved it."

Blight sticks out an arm. The air twists, and in a few seconds, the skullstaff is back in his grasp.

"And somewhere else, a dear fellow with permanently sealed eyes is going to be quite upset when he gets home. I weep."

Re: Wreck's Hovel

"Suuuuuuuuuuuuure you do. Hm… you know, something occurs to me. Wreck didn’t know the rules. Neither did Blind. But you… you think you do, but you don’t either, do you?" That brings a giggle out.

"Well, then. This could be fun."

Re: Wreck's Hovel

"Oh, what, that none of it's really there? What on earth do you think made me go nuts in the first place? Silly cow."

You'll find out soon… but this is a secret they'll all learn the answer to soon enough, not just a private joke. Well, it is at the moment…"

I give a light-hearted shrug.

"I might as well have my fun while I can."

"You should be. Way I see it, if nothing is permanent, we have two options. Deal with it and enjoy what we have, no matter how fake. Or simply blow it all to smithereens, because it didn't mean anything in the first place."

Blight sighs, leaning on the staff.

"I just wouldn't be much of a token villain if I subscribed to the first, would I?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel

But, you know… I got something out of that that you couldn't even imagine. A true birth. You might have some idea, but… it's never going to come to you properly. Not really."

I sit down on the bed and place my hands in my lap.

"But, yeah, peachy keen!"

"I just asked you that question. You had no more answers than I did."

Blight grabs the bars of his cage. Sighs, then melts into energy, flooding through them before reforming on the other side.

"You bore me. Likely have no more purpose for being than I do. Only I've accepted the matter."

Re: Wreck's Hovel

"Oh, I have plenty of purpose. I’m a gardener. I plant seeds. And I was just wondering if you had the answer to your own question. You skull does, but he doesn’t like you enough to tell you, does he?"

A box cage this time. No bars. Transparent.

"Bad Blighty! Behave!"

Re: Wreck's Hovel

The staff raises, flips on end, then cuts a door sized hole straight through the box. Blight steps through.

"I think it slipped your mind that your little fields never did work on the abomination. Or was it even the same mind back then? In any case, the most likely answer is simply that he was a good person, and I am not."

He squints, as if attempting to listen to something deep inside. Then, he smiles.

Re: Wreck's Hovel

Something hits the top of the bus, directly above Wreck's room.

~The Thing On The Bus~

As soon as I hear something come up here I dart right out of sight, hopping down the side of the bus and, grabbing onto the side, into the room I landed above.

I figure it's as warm a place as any while it's pissing down outside like it is, and… heh, it's always fun to mess with the rubes, and-

"Oh… my… god. Wow. This night just went from creepy to down right freaky. Blood writing. A cliche, but a scary one… I wonder who lives in here!"

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jul 13, 2007, 8:12pm

"That would be me."

Back down again, sitting right where he was.

"Although the writing wasn't mine. Don't particularly have anyone I'd care enough about to avenge, let alone scrawl out the word in my own blood."

Re: Wreck's Hovel

Pop! Pop! Pop!

There’s meant to be a sound when someone does something like that, right?

Like a pop!, or a bamf!, or a blink!

No sound. Creepy guy holding a skullstaff who does that without a pop.

Ohboyohboyohboy.

"Oh, so you didn’t decorate," I say, half hidden in the shadow of the corner of the room.

Eyes go back to the blood. The person’s own blood, did he say? Creepy. Veeeeeeeeery creepy.

"Good. Hint for whoever did? Don’t go professional."

Re: Wreck's Hovel

"Not really, no."

I step out of the shadow, and the blue and the red running down my costume, spanned an etched black webbing, flash for a moment as the lightning strikes heavily outside – the very storm I was trying to escape. The faltered lighting does have the advantage of not showing the slightly unseemly, slightly overweight build.

"So how’d the poor sap go?"

Whining about how bad you’ve got it. Sounds familiar.

"Poor little bugger."

Well, this is a buzz-kill. I’m beginning to think it would’ve been better to stay out in the storm than come here with Mr. Creepy.

"What’s with Murray?" I say, pointing at the staff.

Re: Wreck's Hovel
Post by Wreck on Jul 14, 2007, 8:39am

Blight glances at the skull with a look of slight disgust.

Blight abruptly grins.

"…..hee. That's usually the part where I'd tell you yes, and then the skull would eat you. How it usually goes."

"But frankly, I'm just not in the mood."

I stare at him blankly for a moment, before bursting out in laughter.

A moment later, I’m rolling on the floor laughing, clutching my sides. I pause for a moment and look at him, my eyes going wide. Or my eye pieces. Still not sure how I do that.

"Are you- are you actually depressed?"

I continue to look at him before bursting out again.

"Heh… sorry… wait… no, no… are you actually a depressed supervillain?"

Re: Wreck's Hovel

"Do you have any idea how rude it is to laugh at the notion of someone's depression?"

I hop back up to my feet, still feeling not feeling ‘terrible pleasant’.

Eyes wander back to the blood writing.

"Think you could do something about that?"

I step back, placing a hand on my chest in mock astonishment.

"Who am I, you ask? I warn you, the story of my life is not for the faint of heart. It, like all stories worth hearing, is about a girl. But it didn't start with the girl. In the beginning, there was only the spider…
