[[Doctor Strange is sitting in deep meditation. We pan around the room looking at the various artifacts he has gathered over his time as the Sorcerer Supreme. His eyes open sharply and fall on a small item sitting on a clutter bookcase, and covered in purple velvet. He lowers himself to the ground and walks across, running his hands across the velvet, "It appears it is time once again to rally Earth's forces against those seeking to destroy her."

He lifts the velvet and is holding a pack of tarot cards. He flips through the pack really quickly, and each card seems to have the image of a superhero on it. He places the cards on the table, and with a casual flick of his hand, the cards shuffle themselves, while Dr. Strange helps himself to a cup of tea, "Thanks, old friend!" he says to Wong, "You always know exactly what I need!"

Wong gives a quick bow and looks at the cards, "Baron Mordo?"

Dr. Strange says, "Thankfully, it doesn't seem like it. This mission is not mystical in nature."

Dr. Strange points at the cards and the top one flips to reveal itself. It is a picture of the Beast balancing upside down and juggling some of his students with his feet. "The Juggler…creativity, conviction, self-confidence. It appears we will need Dr. McCoy's brains and strength for this one."

Strange gestures again and the next card flips over revealing Spider-Man wearing a Jester's hat, while standing over the beaten figures of the Sinister Six, "The Jester - Innocence, boldness, adventure. Young Mr. Parker always manages to keep things light-hearted…but at the same time, there are few men I would feel more comfortable trusting my life with."

"Our team needs a leader…" The next card flips to reveal Cyclops with wings and wielding a nasty looking sword. "A very overly dramatic rendition of Fortitude. Scott Summers can bring opposing forces together almost as well as Captain America. He also has some experience with the threat we face…"

Dr. Strange flips the next card to reveal Machine Man strapped to a wheel that is spinning rapidly, "The Wheel of Fortune, Aaron Stack often finds himself facing new developments, and offering untold possibilities. He will serve this team well…"

Cyclops commands the New Mutants in a training mission, against the forces of Holo-Magneto.

"Alright team. You may have Wolverine fooled into thinking you're just a bunch of kids, but I know better. If you guys want to replace us, you're going to have to earn it. Now the last few times were a fluke, Magneto got lucky. This time, you're going to show him what you can do."

"You're going down Occullus!" shouts the Spider-man, firing off blasts of impact webbing at his foe. The people in the surrounding area scream as the villain grabs a car and tosses it at a building.

"NO YOU FOOL! I AM NO LONGER OCCULLUS, WITH THE POWER I HAVE STOLEN FROM OCTAVIUS I AM NOW…DR. OCCULLUS!" he cackles, brandishing his tentacles.

"Oi vey…"

"This isn’t gym, Mr. McCoy, it’s torture!"

Beast chuckles as he watches his students pull themselves over a short rock face.

"You should know by now that the two are not mutually exclusive, Richard. Also, it’s not torture, it’s nature, and nature works as a teaching tool better than anything else. Come on, pull yourself up. Last one to the top gets laps around the field."

He sighs at the collective groan that rises from various points on the rock face.

"Okay, maybe I slipped into torture there."

"I assume I'm supposed to meet you somewhere?"

Cyclops wonders for a moment if this is really Dr. Strange, or some unexpected part of the program. He decides that either way, he should go along with it. If it is part of the test, he should treat it as real life. That's the point, after all.

"Doctor Strange, always glad to help a friend of the team. Let me collect the X-Men, and we'll see what we can do to help you."

"I didn't repeat it because I believe Stephen to be versed in the true magics of this universe," I broadcast back, following slowly and carefully.

Beast backs over to where he entered from.

"That's certainly an indication that we should exit, if just for a moment, Aaron."

Not opening his mouth and still doing direct radio broadcasts into the coms, "They have taken painstaking efforts a hide their activities. A plan of action is in order. Sabotage seems good, as whatever they are packing up can not be good."

Then the box falls.

"That reaction seems to be proof of that."

Aaron gets behind the nearest visible cover, still making an effort to not be seen.

"The question then, is what could they be sabotaging?"

From the cover that he hopefully found, Aaron broadcasts, "You misunderstand me. I was suggesting that we sabotage them. Before they can put whatever they are stockpiling to use."

Aaron awaits the boom… or perhaps something else.

"Hm. That seems sound - we should try and get our hands on a sample, to see what they're packing up. Have they backed away from it yet?" Beast asks outside the fence, where he'd ducked out to.

[[The ground vibrates violently beneath us all. The holographic field is disrupted by the sudden vibration. The only person not bothered by any of this is the scientist who is watching with keen interest]]

"Well, there's little point in staying out of the fence now." Beast ducks back in and quickly takes to hiding, peering past it to try and see if the scientists back away so that he can grab a sample of what they're packing.

"Sonic weapons?"

[[The box shatters as a man pulls his way out of the box. He looks vaguely familar to Scott and Beast. He turns and the ground starts to fire rocks cracking open a few of the other boxes.]]

"ONE OF THE GROUNDBREAKERS IS FREE!" screams one of the Department H men.

Quite the opposite! I was really interested it RPing an established character. I made a mental note of it the other day but didn't notice it today when I got free. It didn't matter much anyway…since I wasn't free until around 2 and you guys were pretty much done then.

«Whenever peeps get here we can start.

Recap: Dr. Strange brought together a group of heroes tasked with stopping a disasterous future from coming about. All Strange knows for sure is that Mr. Sinister is involved and his plans need to be stopped on this day.

The team has been dispatched to a far off, and seemingly abandoned facility in the Canadian wilderness. When they got close, they realize this was a holographic illusion, and the base is very active with Department H men loading trucks with very large boxes.

These men are being directed by a scientist with a clipboard. One of the boxes was dropped, and the ground started to vibrate suddenly. "ONE OF THE GROUNDBREAKERS IS FREE!" the workers screamed, and rocks started to fly into the other boxes cracking them open.»
