Training Mission 13: Babysitting
Post by Jesse "Masstress" Buchanon on Apr 10, 2007, 2:56pm

Pester sits in the Danger Room control center at an unspecified time in history. He just got done taking care of baby Alexia, and she very nearly destroyed his previous way of life with one apple sauce toss. Rogue said it was his turn to throw up a training mission, and he has just the thing in mind. Anyone from any team, dead or alive, can check in.

«There may be diaper changing. Check in.»

-Arc
-Marisol
-Lex

The Danger Room gives way, and the group is standing on the roof of a 150 story skyscraper. The mid-evening sky is red with pollution, and if anyone cared to look down they'd see a city that looks like a war was just held there, complete with desolate streets and hollowed out buildings. The skyscraper, while sturdy, looks like it has seen better days. The building sways gently as a gust of wind nudges it softly. This roof is amazingly large, which is convenient since baby Alexia sits square in the middle of it. She's eighty feet tall and wearing a pink onesie with those awesome built in footies. Not affected by the 65 degree temperature or wind, she giggles joyously. Next to her are:

-An adamantium rattle, 15 feet long.
-A pacifier, with 9 foot radius.
-A 40 foot tall twelve-pack of Huggies diapers.
-Four jars of baby food, each 6 feet tall. They are: Strained carrots, strained peas, mango chunks, and strained jerky.

Something approaches in the distance… It's hard to make out, but it appears to be a large ship with some type of weapons suspended from it. Whatever it is, it's approaching rapidly.

As the ship nears the skyscraper, red and blue lights begin flashing on the top. You see that the ship is actually this:
mobile.jpg

The powerful craft swoops in, and the creatures hanging from it leap down onto the rooftop.

The bear, obviously the leader, addresses the New Mutants. "You are all in violation of Hundred Acre Metro code 3C-7B, harboring and aiding a baby."
The striped one giggles as he says with a slight lisp, "Hoo hoo hoo hooo!!! Slaughtering baby harborors is what tiggers do best!"

The leader glares into everyone's eyes unflinchingly, "You are hereby ordered to give up that baby and come with us to the great tree, where you will be detained. Any resistance on your part will result in immediate execution."

Jenny Marvel raises an eyebrow at Marisol.

"Well this is easy. Just lure it to a tight spot, give it some honey, and his bottom'll be too thick to chase us. And maybe his stitches burst."

Bad enough she's thrown into a simulation with everyone but the Hellions she knows. Worse that it's A.A. Milne characters on the opposition.

Re: Training Mission 13: Babysitting
Post by Jesse "Masstress" Buchanon on Apr 10, 2007, 3:26pm

«Pooh is around 6 feet tall, the rest are pretty much on scale with him.»

The bear glares into Marisol's eyes as he speaks into a device on his wrist.
"This is Mr. Sanderz, we have a confirmed 218 on top of the Great World Forest tower, backup requested.

"This is your last chance. Submit, or die."

Re: Training Mission 13: Babysitting
Post by Marisol Morales on Apr 10, 2007, 3:27pm

Marisol's eyes narrowed.
"What are you going to do to the baby if we give it up?"

It seemed fairly obvious at first glance, but she wanted to be sure.

The blue donkey glares at Jenny, the horrific scar over his left eye crinkling.
"You'll show some respect, you goddamn human trash!" He pulls a pot of honey that was strapped to his back and gets ready to fire, but the bear holds out an arm and silences him. Turning back to Marisol, "The baby will be taken to a labor camp where it will serve out it's days under the gentle rule of Lord Robin."

Marisol considered extending one of her arms to grab a hold of the girl she didn't know other than from her files to pull her away, but decided against it. She'd probably manage on her own and only be annoyed by Marisol's help.

Instead, she let herself grow in size. To her maximum, to be precise - slightly more than sixteen feet in height. She stretched herself out a little as well, and hollowed out her insides for more volume to work with. She proceeded to run up close to their apparent opposition and tried to literally kick the bear off the roof.

Re: Training Mission 13: Babysitting
Post by Jesse "Masstress" Buchanon on Apr 10, 2007, 3:37pm

Saunderz sighs with weary resignation. Why couldn't they just live in peace, why couldn't they just sacrifice a little for the greater good? Sometimes he just doesn't like his job… "If that's how you want to do it. Squad, form up." He speaks into his wrist again: "Rabbit, you're on surveillance, make sure noone enters or leaves this area. It's go time."

Rabbit does as he's told, and the ship begins flying circles around the building.

Mr. Saunderz grabs the honey pot he had strapped to his back and it launches a slow fireball at Marisol's position. Eeyore launches at Lex with a snarl, moving to wrap his hands around Lex's throat. Tigger takes to the air, bouncing on his tail over to Jenny while swinging a pair of machetes in front of him and laughing madly. Piglet pushes a button on his chest and is wrapped in a powerful mech.

Re: Training Mission 13: Babysitting
Post by Alkaline on Apr 10, 2007, 3:38pm

Jenny follows Marisol's lead, lacking any other input, and zaps towards Tigger, reverting to human form before impact to give him a good flying kick to the snout.

Re: Training Mission 13: Babysitting
Post by Jesse "Masstress" Buchanon on Apr 10, 2007, 3:39pm

Tigger goes flying back, but uses his tail to rebound. Using the momentum Jenny gave him, he bounces off the tail and goes flying back at her with a blood curtling cackle. His blades swing at her throat.

I increase the heat around my body as Eeyore gets close. He'll burn before he lays a hand on my giant daughter.

Re: Training Mission 13: Babysitting

Marisol blew up her entire chest area to create a large hole for the fireball to pass through, and kept moving.

Re: Training Mission 13: Babysitting
Post by Jesse "Masstress" Buchanon on Apr 10, 2007, 3:42pm

The heat burns Eeyore, but years of battle have left him made of sterner stuff than this. He barely feels the pain as his paws clench around Lex's windpipe. The cruelty in his eyes is from years of pain, not from today.

He snarles, "You'll have to do better than that, human…"

Re: Training Mission 13: Babysitting
Post by Armando "Army" Rosewell on Apr 10, 2007, 3:43pm

The fireball passes through Marisol…and hits me. Wasn't paying enough attention.

I manage to block it with enough wind to keep from getting my face fried, but the concussion still knocks me back, and I hit the floor hard. Need a little bit to get my bearings back…

[And I'm off. See you in an hour or so.]

Marisol… was still going for kicking Pooh off the building.

Re: Training Mission 13: Babysitting
Post by Jesse "Masstress" Buchanon on Apr 10, 2007, 3:45pm

Saunderz is actually surprised by Marisol's actions, which is apparent from his widened eyes. He quickly recovers from his shock and tosses the honey pot aside. Before he can arm his tazer, Marisol's kick connects and sends him flying off the roof with a yelp.

Piglet, from inside his mech, screams "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" The mech then turns and tackles Marisol at top speed.

Re: Training Mission 13: Babysitting
Post by Alkaline on Apr 10, 2007, 3:46pm

In Bullet-Time:

Jenny feels the blade knick her throat, and immediately cuts to her electric form if only to spare her carotid artery and windpipe.

If it shocks the damn tiger, well, bonus.

She targets any sort of conduit or conductor she might jump to and hide.

Re: Training Mission 13: Babysitting
Post by Marisol Morales on Apr 10, 2007, 3:48pm

Marisol let the mech push her off her feet. As soon as she hit the ground, she let go of her form and turned into something like a large fleshy puddle. She tried to be sticky enough to hold onto the mech and capture it into her as if she was a swamp, or quicksand.

She was taking this with conviction. Holographic or not, she wasn't going to let a child be hurt.

Re: Training Mission 13: Babysitting
Post by Jesse "Masstress" Buchanon on Apr 10, 2007, 3:48pm

Tigger is caught by surprise and gets the shock of his life. He rolls to a stop, stands up and licks Jenny's blood off his blade. Around her are a couple vents scattered about, and a railing around the entirety of the roof.

"Hoo hoo ho hoooo, I love it when they try to run…"

Re: Training Mission 13: Babysitting
Post by Risk on Apr 10, 2007, 3:50pm

Can't do anything to a mech, so my best bet is helping that girl with the tiger.

It doesn't seem like much is needed, though…

I notch and arrow and let it fly at its shoulder, following up as quickly as I can with a kick at it's head as I leap in its direction.

Re: Training Mission 13: Babysitting
Post by Jesse "Masstress" Buchanon on Apr 10, 2007, 3:51pm

Still enraged, the pilot of the mech tries to stand up but to no avail. He engages the boosters in his boots to try and get away, incidentally burning Marisol with the flames.

Lex will feel Eeyore's grip loosen and finally give completely as the heat gets to him. The punches deflect off his hard, chiseled jaw. Eeyore looks ashamed as he backs off Lex, finally pulling out a handgun and firing at him.

Re: Training Mission 13: Babysitting
Post by Jesse "Masstress" Buchanon on Apr 10, 2007, 3:54pm

Tigger, concentrating on killing Jenny, catches an arrow clean in the shoulder. He gives off a yelp the moment it connects, and silences it just as quickly. His red eyes burn with rage and a sick demented smile crosses his lips as he pulls the arrow out of his own shoulder and jams it into the bottom of Arc's outstretched boot.

Re: Training Mission 13: Babysitting
Post by Marisol Morales on Apr 10, 2007, 3:56pm

Marisol didn't hesitate to retract herself from around the mechs underside as quickly as she could. The split-second during which she had felt the flames had hurt her quite a bit. She didn't have enough foolish bravado to try and hold on, especially since she could still maintain her grip on the rest of the mech. With proper handling, she would probably be able to hold it off the ground so it couldn't use it's thrusters… but that would have been rather pointless, wouldn't it?

She tried seeping through any cracks in the mech's outer shell. She wanted to get in to break any machinery she could, or to find the cockpit…

Re: Training Mission 13: Babysitting
Post by Risk on Apr 10, 2007, 3:56pm

“Hnn.”

The arrow doesn’t quite make it all the way through the boot, and the kick follows through anyway, but it throws my landing off and I come to an awkward landing. Bringing myself to my feet, I take a baton out and try to drive it into the tiger’s ribs.

“Hurt.”

Re: Training Mission 13: Babysitting
Post by Protoman on Apr 10, 2007, 3:59pm

As soon as I see the gun I throw myself to the right, rolling as I hit the ground and firing a torrent of flames at Eeyore's face.

Re: Training Mission 13: Babysitting
Post by Alkaline on Apr 10, 2007, 4:00pm

Jenny zips through the railing, leaping back out at Tigger from behind, grabbing him in a half Nelson and shocking him as she tries to wrestle him to the ground.

"Are we having bouncy, pouncy, fun, fun, fun, fun yet?" she spits through gritted teeth.

Re: Training Mission 13: Babysitting
Post by Jesse "Masstress" Buchanon on Apr 10, 2007, 4:02pm

The cracks in the cockpit prove enough for Marisol to seep in through, and she comes face to face with Piglet. Tears streaming down his face, he screams "You k-k-k-k-killed my friend! Now it's y-y-y-y-your turn!" He engages the mech's boosters at maximum thrust and sends the entire rig flying straight up. Both combatants gain altitude at blistering speed.

Tigger takes the shot to the ribs, and Damien can hear bones crack. Tigger takes a sick pleasure out of it, as he grabs Damien's wrist and begins hitting him in the face rapid fire with his powerful tail. He's able to break Damien's nose before Jenny's shocks bring him to the floor, in convulsions.

Eeyore's shots miss Lex as he is blinded by the flames. "You son of a bitch! I'll kill you!!!" He pulls out a grenade and throws it in Lex's general direction.

Meanwhile, Alexia looks at the sunset and giggles in contentment, completely oblivious to the violence around her.

Re: Training Mission 13: Babysitting
Post by Protoman on Apr 10, 2007, 4:05pm

I fire a blast of ice at the grenade, hopefully that will at least knock it away.

I fire another blast of flame at Eeyore, this one much hotter than before.

Re: Training Mission 13: Babysitting
Post by Marisol Morales on Apr 10, 2007, 4:06pm

Marisol simply tried to knock Piglet out. She tried to take things as calmly as possible. The only unpleasant part would be the landing, and she was certain she had enough time to escape before it came to that and the potential explosions that came with it… She hoped so, at least.

Re: Training Mission 13: Babysitting
Post by Alkaline on Apr 10, 2007, 4:06pm

Jenny stands up, straightens her shirt, and then grabs Tigger and blasts him towards the jar of mango chunks.

She's never conducted through fruit syrup before, but it can't hurt to try.

Re: Training Mission 13: Babysitting
Post by Jesse "Masstress" Buchanon on Apr 10, 2007, 4:18pm

The second arrow enters Tigger's body as he crashes through the jar of mangos. Errant drops of syrup catch stray beams of the dying sun as lethal shards of glass enters his body. As his life begins to slip away from him, Tigger sees his old home the way it was back in a more innocent time. "The forest… I can see it. The trees… So beautiful and… Green… Hoo ho—" His voice is cut off as the amplified electricity courses through his body, stopping his heart.

Eeyore screams as he is ravaged by the fire on his body. The ice covered grenade explodes, sending ice shrapnel all about. One piece enters Lex's thigh causing it to bleed a little, but it's shallow enough that he's not too badly hurt by it. Eeyore blindly runs around trying to kill Lex, but falls over the railing to his death.

As the mech gained altitude, Marisol is able to knock Piglet out with a single hit. The mech spins around in the air with nobody to control it, and starts to swerve frighteningly fast, finally settling into a divebomb directly at the building rooftop.

Re: Training Mission 13: Babysitting
Post by Jesse "Masstress" Buchanon on Apr 10, 2007, 4:19pm

«It wasn't supposed to take so long to type that. I typed out the Tigger death scene then went back a page to check on Lex, which erased his scene. I was very sad.»

Re: Training Mission 13: Babysitting
Post by Marisol Morales on Apr 10, 2007, 4:22pm

It was obvious that she was dropping…

Marisol tried to expand her body as hard and fast as she could, hopefully ripping apart the mech and propelling her to freedom to boot. She figured the mech would be armored against force from the outside and wouldn't be able to handle it from the inside. Still, she didn't put her hopes on it. If it didn't work, she was ready to seep back outside as fast as possible.

Re: Training Mission 13: Babysitting
Post by Jesse "Masstress" Buchanon on Apr 10, 2007, 4:25pm

The cockpit windshield breaks open on the second thrust from Marisol, and she is able to soar from the burning wreckage as it nears the ground. It's gaining speed as it heads toward the rooftop.

Re: Training Mission 13: Babysitting
Post by Marisol Morales on Apr 10, 2007, 4:30pm

Well, that wasn't good…

Marisol created wings for herself as fast as she could. They were shabby work esthetically, but the important thing was that they worked properly. She made them big and strong, and flew to follow the mech. She created as many tentacles as she could and tried to bat it away. She didn't try to "catch" it, but to divert it from it's course…

Re: Training Mission 13: Babysitting
Post by Jesse "Masstress" Buchanon on Apr 10, 2007, 4:34pm

Marisol's quick work was able to alter the craft's course for the most part, but not completely. Rather than explode upon clean impact with the roof, the mech slams into the side of the building and scrapes along it. The impact kills the unconscious Piglet, and rocks the precarious building hard to one side, but ultimately it stands unharmed. The mech wreckage falls to the streets below.

Our heroes stand triumphant among their fallen enemies, proud of a job well done. Suddenly, an old threat resurfaces!

With a deafening roar, the hovercraft rises above the building with Saunderz standing atop it, the wind ripping through his majestic fur. He surveys the destruction without undue rage. "Rabbit, we make our stand here! Kanga, Roo, man your battle stations and unleash Hell! Kill them!!! Kill every last one of them!!!"

Turrets spring out of the airships' bottom and fire scatterbombs all across the rooftop. One comes dangerously close to the baby, though she is unharmed.

Re: Training Mission 13: Babysitting
Post by Marisol Morales on Apr 10, 2007, 4:39pm

No moment of rest, apparently…

Marisol swooped down near the baby and enlarged herself, once again as big as she possibly could. It was more than uncomfortable, a stinging sort of numbness over her whole body since it was stretched out so much. She tried grabbing a hold of the rattle. She could lift more than ten tons at this size, but she wasn't sure if that was strong enough to lift up the rattle… or throw it at the airship like she was planning to.

Re: Training Mission 13: Babysitting
Post by Jesse "Masstress" Buchanon on Apr 10, 2007, 4:43pm

Seeing that Marisol was trying to protect her from the bad man, Alexia helps her toss the Adamantium rattle. It tears through the starboard engine of the machine, and takes it off balance. The airship has ceased firing, and sits in midair while Rabbit attempts to stabilize it. Saunderz tears out a tuft of fur with his bare hand and screams at the team, "Finish it! Come on and kill me, you bastards! Is that all you've got, cowards?!?"

The baby giggles at Marisol.

Saunderz glares at Lex, a fire in his eyes that truly rivals the strongest Lex can summon. As his fur smolders, he makes the decision to end this at all costs. A tear forms and instantly evaporates as he orders Rabbit to send the airship into a suicide dive straight at Alexia and Marisol.

Re: Training Mission 13: Babysitting
Post by Marisol Morales on Apr 10, 2007, 4:54pm

Marisol sighed hysterically, and turned herself into a ball. It was large and red, and has a smiling face on it. She started rolling away from Alexia in an attempt to lure her out of the way of the crashing airship.

Re: Training Mission 13: Babysitting
Post by Jesse "Masstress" Buchanon on Apr 10, 2007, 5:00pm

Oblivious to all the goings on around her, Alexia slowly gets on her hands and knees to follow after the pretty red ball. She doesn't even notice as the 79 ton chunk of burning, twisted metal slams into the building and grinds all along the concrete, before coming to a stop at the edge. Saunderz stands up and glares at the team that defeated his most trusted lieutenants. He opens his mouth to say something, when the airship collapses through the building and falls toward the city streets below.

«So does the XP actually count toward totals, or is it more of a formality?»

For the record, I didn't think you were too late at the time.

Thats fine. I"ve just played with some strict GMs. There is this old guy(in his 50s) who likes testing peoples limits, and he'll kill you the first time you leave yourself open.

INteresting mission though.

Whoops. Looks like I should have checked the EXP topic on the Wish List before I posted XP totals, as I gave everyone way too much.

Training Missions:
8 points for creating training mission
3 points for participating in training mission
5-6 points for outstanding participation in training mission (GM approval..though the person running training mission has to award points)

So the updated totals are:

Arc: +Worked with what he had. Took sadism on a downed opponent, which is always entertaining. Stayed in character consistently. 3 XP

Lex: +Didn't get scared too badly by Eeyore. 3 XP
-Kinda pissed himself about a simple projectile weapon.

Zephyr: +Gave a reason Zephyr wouldn't be around for the whole time, what with being knocked out. 2 XP

Jenny: +Used the arena to her advantage, including the railing and the jar of mangos. 3XP

Nate: +Threw in that thing where he randomly glitched. Nice little detail. 1 XP
For the record, I didn't think you were too late at the time.

MVP: Marisol- Worked creatively, stayed in character the whole time. Used the adamantium rattle to her advantage. 6 XP
