So far that gives me:

Rogue
Solidity
Stryker
Heatwave
Pester
Wreck
Apath

to play with. I am going to give it a little bit longer (just because I don't want people to get left out, and it would be very hard for them to jump in later).

All right, here is how this is going to work. The New Mutants will be facing off against an unknown team of assailants (specifically choosen by Sam is the only hint you guys are getting). The catch is that you all have swapped powers.

Rogue —- Wreck's Powers
Solidity — Stryker's Powers
Stryker — Apath's Powers
Heatwave — Solidity's Powers
Pester — Reflex's Powers
Wreck — Heatwave's Powers
Apath — Rogue's Powers
Reflex — Nevermore's Powers
Nevermore — Pester's Powers

Action will be starting around noon EST (an hour and 45 minutes).

All right team, here is your opposition: the original Hellions (and Firestar, just because I like her so much):

Beef (Buford Wilson) - gifted with incredible strength and resistance to injury

Bevatron (Fabian Marechal-Julbin) - capable of discharging bursts of electricity from his fists

Catseye (Sharon Smith) - transforms her body into a purple feline or semi-feline state and shift her size between a house cat or a panther form, also razor sharp claws, enhanced senses, increased agility, reaction time and balance, and a prehensile tail. Originally believed she was a cat with the ability to turn in to a human form.

Empath (Manuel de la Rocha) - capable of sensing and controlling the emotional states of others

Jetstream (Haroun ibn Sallah al-Rashid) - discharges explosive bursts beneath his feet to give lift, guidance helped by a jetpack and a guidance system

Roulette (Jennifer Stavros) - creates colored disks of energy that alter the probability of luck: red for good, black for bad

Tarot (Marie-Ange Colbert) - materialize the images on her tarot cards into three-dimensional constructs or as apparel for her (such as the shroud and scythe of Death), as well as some sort of claivoyance

Thunderbird (James Proudstar) - gifted with increased strength, agility, durability, and senses
As well as one-time members:

Firestar (Angelica Jones) - capable of altering microwaves to create intense bursts of heat and fire, also uses it for flight

Setting: The danger room changes around them to reveal a giant warehouse. Boxes are everywhere limited visability and space. The New Mutants are standing at the center of the warehouse, but the Hellions are nowhere to be seen.

"This would seem like a bad situation," Wreck mutters as he glances around. "Not only are we walking into an ambush, we're probably none of us terribly familiar with using each others powers."

He raises his hand and attempts to light a fire in it, only to put a little too much into the effort. The end result: his bangs are burning.

Re: Training Mission 2 - The Ol' Switcharoo
Post by Dhaara "Naga" Falodiya on Nov 14, 2006, 1:36pm

Griffin is obviously not too happy with this scenerio. "I have enough trouble controlling my own powers, why do I have to learn to use someone else's?"

A few scattered notes of "The Yellow Submarine" leak into a few people's heads. "…yeah, I kind of have it stuck in my head right now."

Re: Training Mission 2 - The Ol' Switcharoo
Post by K'lar on Nov 14, 2006, 1:38pm

An amplified voice echos off the ceiling. It is tough to pin point exactly where it is coming from, "So…this is the New Mutants? I am not all that impressed." An astral projection of Emma Frost appears above them.

Up in the Danger Room control room, Emma is scowling at the display below. She turns to Beast, "Did I actually sound like that?" Beast smiles slightly, "You still do."

Re: Training Mission 2 - The Ol' Switcharoo
Post by Squirrel Girl on Nov 14, 2006, 1:41pm

All right, still a little down about the stuff with Roxy and whatnot, but I can't let that get to me; drowning in it's only going to make me mess up when the times comes to actually do something about it. Can't let my 'new' powers get to me, either; from what I figure from watching Wreck, I'm basically powerless 'cept for the healing thing. There's his whole breakdown power, yeah, but I don't want to expirement much with that. Best to just play it safe.

Why do I feel like my eyes need to be brushed, though? Crazy…

"Should be obvious, but let's stay tight. They'll probably try and pick us apart…." I look around, ignoring Emma's picture and trying to get a good read on the situation. "First steps getting these boxes out of the way, though. Anybody think they're up for that?"

Abruptly, something seems to dawn on Wreck's face. He turns to Rogue.

"Rogue, I know this is going to sound extremely weird. But……uh….."

He pauses. Then shakes his head and spits it out.

"On the off-chance that you get killed during this scenario, could you……tell me what you see?"

Silence.

"……I mean like, exactly what you see. It's actually very important that I know."

And he sighs.

"Yeah, that sounded weird even to me."

Re: Training Mission 2 - The Ol' Switcharoo
Post by K'lar on Nov 14, 2006, 1:48pm

Pester seems to have forgotten that he doesn't have his own powers in this scenario. When he attempts to utilize his powers, he accidentally taps Reflex's speed and pitches right into one of the wooden boxes. Thankfully only his ego is bruised.

Re: Training Mission 2 - The Ol' Switcharoo
Post by K'lar on Nov 14, 2006, 1:50pm

Holographic Emma starts to laugh, "Impressive start!" There is a low growling from behind the boxes towards the New Mutants left hand side.

Re: Training Mission 2 - The Ol' Switcharoo
Post by Squirrel Girl on Nov 14, 2006, 1:56pm

God, I hate that woman's voice.

"I'll keep it in mind, Wreck." Not exactly sure what he's getting at, but I get the feeling I really don't want to know or find out. A strong feeling.

The growling gets my attention, and my first impulse is to go over there and knock whatever it is upside the head, but when I try to take flight and remember the situation, I think better of it. "Hey, Wreck, you get Lex's powers, right? Think you can smoke her out?"

Re: Training Mission 2 - The Ol' Switcharoo
Post by Amelia "Heaven" Chow on Nov 14, 2006, 1:56pm

Uh, I guess I can make myself stronger and grab some of those crates or something…

Or, more likely, tip them all over.

Whoops. At least there's probably bad people back there.

Re: Training Mission 2 - The Ol' Switcharoo
Post by Wreck on Nov 14, 2006, 2:00pm

"Yeah. Sure."

With another sigh, Wreck points in the general direction of the growling, trying to set the boxes on fire.

Re: Training Mission 2 - The Ol' Switcharoo
Post by K'lar on Nov 14, 2006, 2:05pm

Gerald is able to lift the boxes. He is just in time to see a purple cat scoot off to the side. Wreck sets a second pile of boxes in the area on fire, and a girly screaming can be heard from behind it.

From the right hand side, a giant axeman rips through the boxes swinging his weapon in a wild arc.

Re: Training Mission 2 - The Ol' Switcharoo
Post by Amelia "Heaven" Chow on Nov 14, 2006, 2:09pm

Well, uh, I guess I'll try to throw one of the boxes in an arc that'll land on the axe guy's head or something.

This is so weird.

Re: Training Mission 2 - The Ol' Switcharoo
Post by Squirrel Girl on Nov 14, 2006, 2:10pm

Beef, if my memory's on. Big problem.

"I got this." Taking damage is one of Wreck's strongest suits; might as well work with it. I run straight for the guy, grabbing a sharp piece of the wrecked boxes as I go and ducking under his axe, knowing I can take the pain but not looking forward to it. He's good with that axe, strong as all get out, but I got the speed and I prove it by ducking low and stabbing at his ankle, aiming for the tendons.

Re: Training Mission 2 - The Ol' Switcharoo
Post by K'lar on Nov 14, 2006, 2:10pm

From behind the burning boxes, Roulette rushes out. She tosses a black disc at Stryker, causing the box to slip from his grip. It goes past the axeman, who charges forward.

Re: Training Mission 2 - The Ol' Switcharoo
Post by Marisol Morales on Nov 14, 2006, 2:10pm

The foremost effect of telepathy Marisol noticed was that she had gone absolutely deaf. Well, technically. All sound was drowned out by a loud and constant buzzing in the back of her head - the collective thoughts of her team-mates. She couldn't make out any one of them by itself, or even what she herself was thinking.

It was extremely disorientating. She almost pressed her hands to hear ears instinctively, but stopped herself. She took a few shaky steps towards Gerald.
Except Gerald wasn't available for giving advice at the moment. He was facing off against two of their opponents. She tried to concentrate on drowning out the mental static a bit, to let herself think of what to do.

…she had no idea. What could Gerald do? What do you think to do a mindblast?
She concentrated on giving the female hologram a brain hemorrage… or whatever.

Re: Training Mission 2 - The Ol' Switcharoo
Post by K'lar on Nov 14, 2006, 2:12pm

«Actually, it is a 3-D creation by Tarot, not Beef.»

The axeman stumbles forward, dissolving into thin air.

Re: Training Mission 2 - The Ol' Switcharoo
Post by Wreck on Nov 14, 2006, 2:17pm

Wreck watches the oddly colored cat run away. A sinister grin crosses his face, as he points at it and tries to catch her fur on fire.

"Simple stuff. Nothing too complicated. Just an everyday burning kitty cat."

Re: Training Mission 2 - The Ol' Switcharoo
Post by Squirrel Girl on Nov 14, 2006, 2:19pm

[Oh, my bad.]

I get back on my feet as the axeman dissolves away, seeing Roulette making her move. Think she's the least of her worries; about seven other hellions going unaccounted for. Catseye's probably still close, but any of them could be coming from any side…

Re: Training Mission 2 - The Ol' Switcharoo
Post by Dhaara "Naga" Falodiya on Nov 14, 2006, 2:19pm

Nevermore panics and backs up into another stack of boxes. This is bad. First off, he hasn't had as much practice working with a team as most of his teammates. Secondly, he's never actually seen Pester use his powers in a hostile situation. So, he improvises.

He locks eyes with Roulette, forgetting that Pester doesn't need eye contact to use his powers like he does, and starts transmitting the first thing that comes to his head for this situation.

"This is the song that never ends…"

I really don't want to be the guy who punches a girl.

But it's a hologram girl.

But I still don't want to be the guy who punches a girl.

Oh well. After some hesitation, I try to punch Roulette. In the face. With this super strength or whatever.

Feeling like he won the powers sweepstakes Sephula tries to jump forward towards Roulette, but instead hovers for a moment, and then flies forward a few metres, crashing down onto the floor. Thankfully, the only thing hurt was his pride.

Okay, this'll take some getting used to.

«Oh, I didn't see the power swapping thing. I should read the whole topic from now on before I post.»

Great, I start off my great superhero career by eating a face full of box. Bet Cyclops never screwed up that bad…

"Alright, so kinetic control. Sounds straightforward enough."

I give Reflex's powers a quick test and very slightly engage his kinetic drain. I actually feel stronger than usual, this is a really invigorating feeling. I can't wait to actually work with this!

Pester snaps himself out of his haze, and notices everyone else doing epic battle, and shooting at a freaky purple cat.

"Well… no time like the present…"

Pester uses his new powers to try and slow down Roulette, so the other guys can wail on her. He tries his hardest to only slow her down, hopefully his teammates won't be effected as much so they can get the drop on her. He prays he doesn't screw up, and get killed like that old guy he read about.

Re: Training Mission 2 - The Ol' Switcharoo
Post by K'lar on Nov 15, 2006, 12:31pm

Solidity starts to use Stryker's powers. Roulette feels a slight sting in her head, but Solidity's concentration is broken by Firestar shooting a blaze of fire at her. Solidity stumbles backwards, avoiding the flame just barely.

Roulette then begins to hear that annoying song in her head. She turns towards Nevermore, and Gerald lands a punch that floors her. Unfortunately, all this operating at peak levels has left Gerald pretty worn out. Jetstream rockets from the air heading towards Gerald.

Sephula hits the ground hard. He looks up to find Thunderbird standing over him. T-Bird picks him up by the front of his shirt and tosses him into a pile of boxes. Thankfully, Apath's Rogue body is a lot tougher than his own.

Wreck manages to catch Catseye and she lights on fire. She quickly shifts to a bigger catform, and the flames go out. She leaps at Wreck, claws out.

Tarot pops up from behind a box to see what happened to her axeman. She finds herself face to face with Reflex. She screams in terror and starts to cower backwards, dropping a whole pile of cards and pictures.

Empath grabs Reflex from behind, "You really don't want to do that!" Reflex is suddenly feeling much more charitable towards the Hellions, and angry at his teammates.

Re: Training Mission 2 - The Ol' Switcharoo
Post by Wreck on Nov 15, 2006, 12:37pm

Watching the now overgrown cat leap at him, Wreck's first instinct is to eat the attack. Then he realizes that would probably be a bad idea in the current situation.

Recalling what Lex used to finish him off in the Danger Room, he tries to shoot a blast of flame at Catseye, but taking the heat away from it instead to turn it into ice.

Re: Training Mission 2 - The Ol' Switcharoo
Post by Roxanne "Madrock" Madison on Nov 15, 2006, 12:37pm

All hell's starting to break lose, and I'm trying to figure out a way to get myself useful. Best guess: Catseye making a move for Wreck. Was keeping an eye out for her anyway and I figure out of all the people here, she's probably one of my better chances, so I leap her way and try for a tackle, hoping I can keep her down while the others work on the big threats. Don't know how long I can keep her down, but I can take a fair amount a pain. Not like I don't know how to fight without my powers or anything.

Re: Training Mission 2 - The Ol' Switcharoo
Post by K'lar on Nov 15, 2006, 12:45pm

Wreck can't quite manage Lex's level of control over his powers, so he ends up with more of a mist than ice. Catseye moves in close and rakes her claws across Wreck's face.

Rogue comes to his aid, grabbing Catseye. Catseye feels slightly stronger than Rogue in this form.

Re: Training Mission 2 - The Ol' Switcharoo
Post by Roxanne "Madrock" Madison on Nov 15, 2006, 12:48pm

She's strong, a little stronger than me, but I'm not counting on that making a big difference. The claws and the teeth, those're my big problems.

I figure my best chance is to keep her guessing, so I grab her by the tail and yank as hard as I can, trying to fling her across the room, hopefully into something big and hard.

Re: Training Mission 2 - The Ol' Switcharoo
Post by K'lar on Nov 15, 2006, 12:57pm

Wreck doesn't have superstrength, Roguy. He wouldn't be able to fling her anywhere, especially not by the tail. Catseye screams when Rogue pulls her tail, and tries to twist around to attack her.

Re: Training Mission 2 - The Ol' Switcharoo
Post by Wreck on Nov 15, 2006, 1:01pm

Wiping a hand across his face, Wreck looks at his own blood. It dawns on him that he really, really misses being able to heal from such things.

"Try willing her to hurt a little," he says to Rogue, watching her catfight (boo, hiss). "Just think entropy. But don't go overboard."

Re: Training Mission 2 - The Ol' Switcharoo
Post by Squirrel Girl on Nov 15, 2006, 1:05pm

[Gah, and I've been posting with the wrong account again! My bad.]

She cuts deep in my side, gets some blood, but I've still got the position on her and I'm keeping it.

I hear Wreck's suggestion and decide to give it a try; yeah, Catseye'd would maybe go down before I would if we just slugged it out, but there wouldn't be a whole lot left of me by then. I give Wreck's power a little try, focusing a bit and seeing what his whole breakdown thing'll do to Catseye. Think destruction, think chaos, think harder and…

Re: Training Mission 2 - The Ol' Switcharoo
Post by K'lar on Nov 15, 2006, 1:20pm

Rogue and Wreck are treated to a very odd effect. Catseye (and a small section of the room) actually breaks apart and vanishes revealing the floor of the Danger Room in its place.

Beast's voice comes over the loudspeaker, "Please don't break the Danger Room…they are rather hard to come by."

Thankfully, the holographic generators adjust and Catseye repairs, this time colored wrongly. A bright yellow Catseye looks at Rogue bewildered, "What happened to me?" Catseye seems to have no more interest in fighting.

Re: Training Mission 2 - The Ol' Switcharoo
Post by Squirrel Girl on Nov 15, 2006, 1:37pm

"Sugar, I have no idea." I take the oppurtunity and reach over to the nearest box of crates, pulling it over and trying to flatten Catseye with it. Not the nicest thing, no, but I figure it's better than risking another fight breaking out.

Beef…the REAL Beef, not the guy I messed up with earlier…grabs me from behind, put me in a bearhug and starts squeezing. Marisol stared at Firestar with bewilderment. She wasn't sure what to do, but she knew that she was better off relying on herself than Gerald's powers. That wasn't the point of the excercise, however.

She tried to get into Firestar's brain long enough to distract her and whack her senseless.

Re: Training Mission 2 - The Ol' Switcharoo
Post by Dhaara "Naga" Falodiya on Nov 15, 2006, 2:05pm

Nevermore looks at and mulls over his best move for a moment. After his less-than-impressive stunt on Roulette, he figures that he's been going at this the wrong way. He's been trying to use Pester's powers like Pester—but he doesn't know how to do that. And ass the old adage goes, stick with what you know.

He starts projecting at Beef, who's currently giving Rogue a hard time. Stick with what you know—in this case his namesake. He projects, in a voice that would probably be described best as a much, much scarier version of James Earl Jones's:

"Deep into that darkness peering, long i stood there wondering, fearing,
Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before;
But the silence was unbroken, and the darkness gave no token,
And the only word there spoken was the whispered word, "Lenore!"
Then i whispered, and an echo murmured back to the word, "Lendore!"—
Only this and nothing more."

Improvised? Yes. But Beef doesn't seem like the brightest type, so hopefully he'll be freaked out enough to give Rogue a chance to escape.

Reflex has a hard time making eye contact with Empath, but he does manage to cause Empath to slip in his control.

Solidity's mental distraction works very well. Firestar crashes head on into a pile of crates. She really should wear a helmet!

Beef is more than a little confused by Nevermore's attack. He lets goe of Rogue, and Apath hits him like a freight train. Unfortunately, Beef is only stagger by his attack. Apath, Nevermore, and Rogue find themselves up against Thunderbird and Beef.

Marisol grinned slightly.
She proceeded to skip to the heap of crates gently. She didn't hold herself for completely stupid, however - she saw the need for being careful. She could feel that her opponent was still conscious….
After rounding the crates quickly, she pounced on the figure that lay sprawled on the middle from her relative back. She raised her fist to clock her in the face…

Up in the control room, a small crowd of X-men have gathered watching what's going on (and waiting their turn at this power swap thing Beast came up with). The males all grown in agony at that one. Beast comments, "Let's remember to so James this tape next time X-Force stops by."

It is a very effective tactic. T-Bird drops to his knees.

Marisol felt surprisingly vicious. The fear radiating from the hologram (alien technology is wow) didn't make her want to feel merciful.

Firestar put up quite a struggle, but - really - Marisol was above her, and in such an easy position… to jump and smash her knees into Firestar's face.

Finally begining to adjust to Rogue's flight capabilties, Apath hovered and flipped over T-bird so that he was facing him again - grabbing onto T-bird's head to maintain balance, in case he came crashing down again. Backing up a stride, Sephula snap kicked T-bird as hard as he could across the face.

«T-bird has near invulnerabilty, right? Wait, it's a Danger Room creation… it can't be injured.»

Great. Nevermore's up against the two most physically powerful opponents, and he has no physical powers to protect himself, and with powers he's having trouble using effectively. Still, Apath and Rogue seem pretty durable…if he can get the two bruisers to drop their defenses, Apath might be able to take at least one of them out…he makes a mental checklist.

Annoying songs: Not that great.
Scary poems: Still better, but not that great.
Options? Back to basics.

He's not confident he can selectively broadcast to two different people but nobody else, but it's worth a try…he conjures up the mental sound of nails on a chalkboard, and projects it into Thunderbird and Beef's minds. Hopefully it'll catch them off guard long enough for one of his stronger teammates to make a move.

Finally standing up from where Bevatron had knocked him with one of his electric blasts, Wreck glares. He blinks his eyes, and is momentarily distracted as he notices they're no longer pointy teeth. That would seem to have passed on to Rogue.

He could get used to this, he thinks.

Staying where he is, Wreck decides to try another of Lex's usual tricks. Heating up Bevatron's internal temperature until he cooks.

Re: Training Mission 2 - The Ol' Switcharoo

Firestar crumples to the ground. This is long before she was on the New Warriors «and Avengers», and she is not used to a physical fight. Solidity's hands are a bloody mess…for the first time in a long time, she actually feels pain.

T-Bird's world was just rocked by a kick backed by Rogue's strength. Damn, that was a nasty shot. Beef takes the moment to slam a punch into Apath's back, which crumples him to the ground. Before Beef can follow up, Nevermore hits him with the nails across the chalkboard. Beef is clutching his ears.

Bevatron fires back at Wreck, knocking Wreck on his ass. Wreck continues to try to boil Bev, who is obviously feeling the effects, but Bev is charging up for another shot.

Stunned, but unhurt, «I am right in thinking that Rogue can't really be hurt, right?» Sephula struggled back to her feet. Thanking Allah for Nevermore's attack on Beef, he puched Beef once in the gut, and then uppercut him.

«You mean the first time since a few weeks… when Marisol was shocked by the Phalanx?»

It felt quite weird, thought Marisol. The by-now-unfamiliar numb sort of pain in her hands and knees. It was very much different from the sharp and stinging variety she had grown accustomed to… Before standing up and moving back into the fight, she punched the down and out Firestar once more. She had definitely been unconscious, but she wanted to make sure there would be no surprise comebacks.

Rather than charging back out, she crouched behind the relative cover the crates and observed the field of battle. The atmoshere was now much more tense and concentrated than before, except for a single spot of wild panic she could sense farther off. A thought she had spent no thought on so far struck her - what had happened to HER powers?
She could see Lex's torso lying in a flesh-colored puddle on the warehouse floor.

"Crap," she whispered to herself.

With an impertinent sigh, she darted out from between the crates and headed for Lex.

Bevatron's face is burned pretty badly by that shot. He is down…but so is Wreck. Too many electric shots to that now breakable body.

He looks around for the aforementioned freaky purple cat lady and….. Sees Emma Frost… [i]My god that woman is hot… [i]

He hopes and prays that Frost (holographic or otherwise) didn't hear that, and looks around for something else useful to do. He then very nearly wets himself, as Jetstream gives him a swift kick to the face (If he still had his original powers, the team would hear "Down goes Frazier…" in Rich Little's voice). Rogue —- Wreck's Powers
Solidity — Stryker's Powers
Pester — Reflex's Powers «stunned»

Reflex — Nevermore's Powers
Nevermore — Pester's Powers

Pester stumbles to his feet. He feels a little better now, actually better than normal. Much stronger, and much faster, he rushes at Emma Frost hoping to catch her off guard. He's not stupid, he knows you can't catch a telepath off guard. He doesn't know if he can even do anything if she turns to her diamond form, who knows just how much energy he has pent up. All he can hope is that he can make her let go of his teammate, and they can actually bring her down.

Emma's mental image appears one last time, "CURSE YOU, NEW MUTANTS!!!!"

The real Emma's voice comes over the loud speaker, "All right, that is enough of that! End Simulation!"

The New Mutants are restored back to their original state and the room turns back to its original state.

She noticed that it had gotten a lot "quieter". There were less of them around now. She could sense each one of them with greater clarity.

She wasn't a match for Frost… She didn't know what to do, beyond heading towards Gerald and trying to ask him for advice.

Ok, up against an extremely powerful telepath, with unfamiliar powers. He had only tried using Pester's powers offensively so farmaybe it was time for a different approach? He ran behind a box, and closed his eyes, trying to relax, while projecting into his teammate's mindshe wasn't sure if he could maintain broadcasting to so many people for long, but he tried to send a calming message, in hopes that it would make it harder for Emma to manipulate their minds.

"Don't listen to her. Listen only to me. Don't let her control you." He tries to keep a calm, rhythmic inflection, to keep it from being distracting, only trying to shield them from her mental intrustion.

I'm still not used to these stupid powers…

I try to get close to Marisol and whisper to her. "Okay, here's the plan. She'll hear us anyway, so I don't know why I'm whispering, but I am. Just sort of…think aggressively at her. She'll have to defend. She's stronger, but with her mental energy there, the rest of us can take her out physically, and then we're done. All you need to do is keep her defending/counterattacking for a couple minutes. Cool?"

Post by Marisol Morales on Nov 16, 2006, 10:26am

"No…" said Marisol. Of course, that didn't have to matter. She'd end up doing it anyway…

The bright side of mental powers was that she didn't even have to enter the fight for real at all. She leaned on a larger crate and began concentrating on Frost's far-off presence.

All right, officially out of it now. No offense to Wreck, but I don't think I'll be taking his powers for a joyride anytime soon, not if I can help. Nothing wrong with pain, but I don't look for.

I float back into the Observation Room; floating, because, well…I like flying. Kind of miss it when I can't, so I want to get the feel back. So I head over to the other X-Men, gliding over the floar and gaining a few feet for a better look. "All on Emma, huh?" Figures she'd be the last one to go down. Tough fight, but… "I think they got this."

[Had to write something. ]

Nevermore's maneuver works well…especially since after watching Apath rip through the team, the New Mutants are on the alert for a telepathic attack.

Marisol goes after Emma, who mentally bats the attack away like it was a fly. Emma Frost emerges from the boxes covered in a ridiculous looking Anime-style armor, "FACE ME, NEW MUTANTS!"

Real Emma glares at Rogue, "If they do beat me, it is because Beast screwed up when he programmed this machine. Your kids are uncoordinated and amateurish. It is disgraceful."

Emma turns to Rogue, her eyes on fire, "Make sure it doesn't, X-Man." With that Emma leaves the control room. Beast looks at Rogue and shrugs, trying and failing to lighten the mood, "Apparantly she's cranky first thing in the morning."

Marisol finds a tiny little opening into Emma's psych, while Emma is looking around wildly at whatever it is that she sees.

Re: Training Mission 2 - The Ol' Switcharoo
Post by Pester / Freaktada on Nov 16, 2006, 12:24pm

Pester takes Reflex's advice and use his boosted speed to run around the room. he can't help but enjoy it, and try getting progressively closer to the Emma clone, weaving between boxes hoping she can't actually see him.

Pester's never actually worked on a team before, and he doesn't want to get in the way. There are other, stronger mutants that she could take control of and he's hoping one of them brings her down while he can confuse her. Or just piss her off by thinking at her: "Sweet damn, that accent is hot. I bet she's a dominatrix in her spare time. Oh yeah baby, make it hurt so good!"

Seems like the real Emma is a little preoccupied to be looking into my thoughts, so I doubt she could hear that.

Emma staggers backwards from Gerald's punch. She tries to grab onto him with her telepathy, but Marisol is making life difficult for her.

From upstairs, Rogue is watching. She mutters to Beast about Pester seeming timid down there. Beast nods and says, "It takes time. You know that."

Already lost three New Mutants, not going for an even four.

Re: Training Mission 2 - The Ol' Switcharoo
Post by Pester / Freaktada on Nov 16, 2006, 1:54pm

Pester realizes maybe he isn't the only one in over his head, and figures he can't lose much by becoming the resident girl puncher. He uses all the energy he can muster and (tries to) manipulate some of his energy to float just an inch or two off the ground, so Emmaclone can't hear his heavy footsteps. He then uses all the momentum he has to scoot up behind Emma and give her a solid dropkick to the back.

«Assuming the whole floating thing doesn't work»

He tries to just punch her in the back of her fat cockney head. He's careful to avoid the energy blasts and attacks of his other teammates, but being new to these powers he gets singed here and there.

Marisol felt extremely weird. Trying to contain Frost's powers almost seemed like keeping a hold on a bag full of crazy ferrets, with boxing gloves to boot. There was a lot of struggling involved, but she only had the vaguest idea on what to hold on to.

Fortunately, she did get the impression that whatever she was doing was working.

Pester connects with Emma's back, and she falls to the ground. Emma tries to get back to her feet, but she seems too tired. She is not much for a physical altercation. She growls angrily, "I've had enough. You win."

Marisol suddenly felt Frost approaching her, with some less than pleasant objectives. Thankfully, she hadn't been very close, and was behind cover to boot. Of course, Frost could track her just fine…

Marisol decided to slip back into action directly. She stopped her mental pressure on Frost for the time being, and concentrated on protecting herself from foreign intrusion. She ran along to meet her opponent before she could reach her. Of course, the mental armor would probably protect Frost when she'd try to kick her in the shins, but it was worth a try…

She jumped towards Emma.
