Don't quite like that smile on Wreck face…and his eyes…man, I just noticed that teeth-for-eyes thing. And people say I'm creepy-looking, damn…

But I walk over beside him, taking my place for whatever's about to go down.

Madrock
Geforce
Stryker
Current
Maxwell's Demon

Hmm… we seem a bit uneven here. Jubes, you want to get in on this? The New Mutants turn to see Jubilee standing at the doorway, watching curiously. Jubilee, "Sure, Hayseed. Why not?" She moves over by Reflex's team.

Re: Training Mission 1 - Keep Away
Post by K'lar on Sept 26, 2006, 1:38pm

Cannonball punches some stuff on the Danger Room panel. A rather cartoony version of the Xavier Mansion pops up in the distance.

"All right, this is how this is going to work. Team 1 is going to try to attack the mansion, Team 2 is going to defend it. Only rule is that Dialation can't warp himself or any of his team directly into the mansion."

Re: Training Mission 1 - Keep Away
Post by K'lar on Sept 26, 2006, 1:40pm

Team 1's goal is to "tag" the Professor, who will be stationed in the main foyer of the mansion. Team 2's goal is to protect him. If you can hold off the other team for an hour, you will win.

Current convened with his team-mates.
"I hate to sound like a broken record, but - once again - we need someone to give the orders… Is that guy Wreck? 'Cause I suddenly want to surrender…"

Re: Training Mission 1 - Keep Away
Post by Wreck on Sept 26, 2006, 1:45pm

"Shut up and drink your prune juice."

Wreck looks off towards the mansion.

"…….you know, I think I have a good idea."

«I will RPG Jubes for certain things, like tapping her knowledge about the mansion, but she will be completely under your team's command when the mission starts to prevent me from cheating

Current, on the bottom of the front page, there is a way to view the last ten messages posted. I can turn it down to 1, but can't get rid of it completely without turning off the whole bottom panel, which has information I like seeing, like who is on the boards. The problem is, anyone can view that last post. So if you posted, "I WILL KILL XAVIER!" the other team would be able to view it if you don't post a second "bump" post afterwards to knock the message out of the buffer.»

Re: Training Mission 1 - Keep Away

I think Team 2's code has something to do with the Jets. hmm maybe the last time the Jets made the playoffs (1999?) or maybe the last time they had a great year in their original uni's (1987?). The possibilities…..the possibilities.

If something seems really off about a way you use a character, I won't allow it, but this is pretty much just for fun, so I don't plan to use that veto power too often. If your team is doing something covert, PM me about it»

I'm really nervous about the first inter-team scrimmage. I'm in the foyer with everyone else, trying to link up our minds to help out, but I'm having a hard time just linking up team 2 and not team 1 in addition. Well, um, I guess I'll keep trying.

Team 1 starts in the Foyer with their holographic Xavier…who really looks a lot more like Patrick Stewart than the comic book version.

Team 2 starts outside the mansions immediate defenses. About 200 yards from the front door.

Me and Golem standing in the foyer; me hovering behind, Golem in front, the Professor sitting behind. Running interference, ready to smack down anyone coming down the path.

Gregory walks into the room and towards the front door, late as always. "Yes, yes, I'm here."

He focuses on the door way, the outer wall around the door and the part of the roof overhanging above it, weighing them down to the point of collapse to block off that passage into the foyer from team 1.

Vigour and Reflex find themselves at odds with the mansion's defense systems. Lasers pop up from the ground and missles start firing at them. Their powers make this not much of a resistance, as they start making their way across the lawn.

"Follow the plan, people," reminded Current the otherscommandingly, before he remembered that he was not the one in charge.

Losing no time himself, he moved into action and began loading himself with energy. The familiar sizzling sound concentrated itself around his cane. He pointed it towards the nearest lightswitch in the foyer and let go. An arc of blue light shot straight into it and the lights suddenly went out. <You could specify what time of day it is.> If everything worked out all right, that would be the case in the whole building. He had fried the whole power grid. The automatic defense was on a back-up line in just such a case…

"Wish me luck," he whispered to the others and opened the front door, "Don't forget the plan. Seal this door!" he nagged, and shut the heavy wooden door before him.

Reflex arrives at the door first. He obviously isn't buying Current's attempt to switch sides. He starts darting back and forth looking for an opening in CUrrent's defenses.

Re: Training Mission 1 - Keep Away
Post by Marisol Morales on Sept 28, 2006, 3:00pm

"You didn't even give me a chance for a witty one-liner…" said Current wryly. He raised his cane and lightning filled the air.
"Do you think you're faster than the speed of light?" he asked jovially and released several thunderballs towards Reflex. All weak enough to merely shock someone unconscious, of course.

Re: Training Mission 1 - Keep Away
Post by Chord on Sept 28, 2006, 3:01pm

As Reflex looks for his opening Vigour throws away all sense on composure and simply charges straight at Current. He doesn't say it, but he hopes the glance he gave Refelx reveals his plan. The speedster hits high and fast, he'll low and hard.

Meanwhile, Dillan and the rest of the team are still moving through the hidden tunnel Jublilee showed them. He wished he could simply teleport the team to Xavier since they were already inside the mansion (at least he was sure they were) but the enclosed space was messing with his senses and he didn't wish to endanger the team.

"How much further firecraker?" he questioned impatiently while Incubus snickered.

"Not too long minute-man." she snapped back.

So that's how it's going to be he laughed.

Vigour was approaching. Time for plan B. He quickly dispersed the rest of the energy he had built up and lowered his cane to waist-level, brining it closer to his chest and tightening his grip on it at the same time. He turned a bit and set one foot slightly behind the other.
He had a bit of experience in stick fighting… it would be useful here… if only he could keep up.

Re: Training Mission 1 - Keep Away

Reflex kicks himself for failing to absorb the energy launched at him by Current. Thankfully, Vigour appears to be on his guard and is still charging forward, raising his fist.

"The hell are we?" asks Heatwave as the New Mutants emerge on a ledge above what appears to be the…

"Danger room?" laughed Incubus "Are you telling me the Danger Room simulated mansion has it's own Danger Room? How awesome is that!"

"Very." states Dillan. "Directly above here should be the kitchen." Dillan then creates a bubble of energy around his team. "Hope I'm right." he says as he attempts to teleport.

00:03:00 - Gerald is successful, Reflex and Vigour at the door, the other team seems to be under the mansion quite a bit. Hard to trace exactly where they are going, as Stryker doesn't have much knowledge about the tunnels, and Jubes is trained enough to keep that specific information from him.

00:03:10 - (lucky dice roll for Current) - Current manages to dodge Vigour's attack, and puts him on his butt with a nicely placed cane swing

00:05:15 - Dil is getting ready to jump, when the danger room's danger room suddenly springs to life. Maxwell's Demon is standing in the control room. Before they can jump, multiple attacks come at Dil and company. Sentinels, Juggernaut, whatever else they can think of

"Well, it looks like they're somewhere in the sub-sub-basement, except for two of them fighting Current outside…that'd be Vigor and Reflex."

Stryker considers for a minute.

"Want me to see if I can knock Dil out? I probably can, but it probably won't be pretty. It'd be an even trade, basically…me for most dangerous opponent. Barring Jubes, but I don't think I could get her."

Re: Training Mission 1 - Keep Away
Post by Chord on Sept 28, 2006, 3:23pm

"Crap on a stick." yells Dillan as his team makes moves to dodge incoming attacks. "Inc, teleport everyone as far away from the Danger room as you can!" he screams as the team scrambles, but not before Dillan touches Incubus' bear skin. Dillan begins zipping around the room, trying to draw the attention of the attacking foes. He wonders for a moment if the Holograms within the danger room could be teleported.

—-

Vigour is embarrassed, but up quickly, same with Reflex. The two nod to one another and try again. Vigour charging once again but with Reflex moving at a faster speed than before.

«You can't hope for lucky dice rolls forever.»

Current laughed out loud. He thought he should be afraid. Worried about failure. But he wasn't. He chuckled mockingly as Vigour fell on the ground, but didn't miss Reflex starting to move again. But he wasn't worried. He was high on adrenaline, more than when he was faced with actual enemies. Even his heart seemed to be beating to the rhythm of his superiority. He was frail, but he had every confidence in his eventual victory.
"You have no chance," he proclaimed melodramatically.
Then he felt something. He realized something vital.

His grin suddenly turned upside down and he lost his grip on his cane. It fell on the gravel road with a thud. Almond painfully fell to his knees as he spastically grasped his chest and groaned.
His voice was almost breaking when he hoarsely said: "My heart… help me…"
He coughed a bit, and some blood flowed on his chin.
"Help…"

And he looks to Roxanne.

00:04:00 - Current collapses in front of the other two as they were about to attack. They look at each other, not quite sure of their next move.

00:06:00 - Incubus manages to jump Jubes, Heatwave, and himself into the control room with Maxwell's demon

Dil's low agility stat does not help him here. His zipping around comes to a bad end as he is slammed into by a stun blast.

Refelx was worried, but he didn't have any clue how far Current was willing to go to trick. For all he knew he might have had a fake blood packet in his mouth.

He warped himself up against the control room and latched onto it. If he could teleport the whole thing, along with himself to another part of the mansion, it could severly disrupt any plans the opposition had made.

00:06:10 - Dil manages to make the jump up, but the fatigue of his new power and the stun blast leave him too exhausted to do the next part of his plan

Stryker's telepathic attack on Dil fails…the distance and the danger room contributed to that. Stryker takes some nasty feedback on that one.

"Take down Vigour. Don't kill him and don't break the front door or wall," he solmenly commanded to the Golem.
His eyes began glowing. He grabbed the cane and got up to his feet, his whole figure lighting up like a Christmas tree. There would be NO holding back… No little taser-blasts and kids' gloves. He wouldn't kill, but he wouldn't go easy on them…

He held out both hands and let loose twin blasts of electricity at Reflex's back.

One day, they would let him die…

Dillan awakens and finds himself on the floor of the Danger room control panel. He had taken a pretty nasty fall, but he was relatively alright, he just needed a few moments to compose himself…too bad Maxwell's demon was right near him and began sapping the air from his lungs.

"Your…code…me….ucks…" he gasped, before passing out again.

Not bothering to strike, Current turned around and did what Wreck had told them to: he began running again. Past everyone, and into the corridors. It was annoying and tedious. He was already tired. He didn't look back until he was out. He proceeded to ready a few blasts of energy again, to contain anyone following him.

Heatwave made a move to tackle Wreck while Jubilee laid down support fire. Incubus had soon caught up with them and decided that too be of any use he needed a power…any power. He reached out with his mind and tried to draw the energy that would empower him into his body.

Greg looked in on what was a Foyer a few moments ago, fighting feelings of guilt over going this far on his own teammates. He'd been sure to manipulate the weight enough that he was sure he didn't kill anyone, but he had sent it right back up to normal to keep everyone pinned.

"Hey! Wreck! Still concious?"

He didn't sound too broken up. He'd have plenty of time to compare this to what he did to his parents later.

"Wait, what am I saying…" receded Current, "they weren't even all inside the foyer. We have to find the others."
"Here's a rundown," he said to Roxanne, "Xavier remains uncompromised, and Wreck is still in the foyer neatly dug in with it. He can hold off anyone who'd dig there looking for him. That leaves us free for offense. We're almost all together, while Team 1 is seperated. An invaluable advantage, even if half of them aren't out of action. We mustn't split, but gang up on them one at a time. So I suggest we regroup and start looking for them."

He noticed he still had some blood on his chin. He slowly wiped it away, then looked at Roxanne. "Do you understand?"

Reflex will come back to where he knows the ceiling caved in to see what happened and who is still in the game.

Incubus will head in that direction after hearing the ceiling cave in.

That was when Heatwave charged.

Heatwave is definitely pinned down, his strength having run out from his surviving the collapsed roof (which is what the PM was about).

Maxwell's demon enters the hallway with his teammates,

Dialation and Incubus are still free, roaming the mansion. Dialation has no idea what happened, so presumingly he is headed down towards the foyer. Incubus ducked back into the kitchen and moved out of sight quickly.

Reflex is crushed up against the ground, but Geforce's grip isn't as strong as he thought it would be (even the dice recognized that Geforce has some guilt issues ). Curt could probably shake it off with some effort.

And Reflex draws the bad lot. James attempts to suck the air from him, mentioning how this will probably hurt less than Geforce repeatedly dropping him on his head until he loses consciousness.

"Gah! Walking is taking too long." whines Dillan as he attempts to warp to the foyer. Ideally, he get arrive there in about five minutes, at least he hoped he would. He was tired, not too tired to warp, just too tired to focus on his destination clearly.

"Here goes nothing."

Dialation manages to warp into the foyer, which is emptied as the rest of the team is fighting in the next hallway.

Reflex is starting to pass out with Maxwell Demon's attack.

«Ok, cool.»

If i can just stay alive and in the game long enough to get my powers back there has to be a way to get this…thing off me.

Lex is trying to brainstorm an idea when he feels his temperature powers begin the return.

GOT IT! And thanks to the plan back with the bear no less.

Lex will now attempt to super heat and then super cool Golem since he is made up of rocks, sand, and such things this should do SOMETHING to him.

00:20:15

Lex's plan starts to work. The quick temperature change is making Golem brittle.

Incubus runs into the foyer just as Dialation appears.

Incubus: "I have a plan. I think it'll work."

Incubus whispers his plan to Dialation.

Dialation: That should work. Do it.

Lex trys to punch through Golem since he is becoming brittle.

Incubus and Dialation run into the next hallway to impliment the plan. (I'll PM you blackmore.)

00:20:30 -

Reflex is out cold this time. Knocked out for a while (minimum of 10 minutes), but not out of the game.

Lex manages to break Golem's grip, but doesn't do too much other damage.

Dialation takes the lead in the attack. He reaches towards Current. "Ready to go into the future old man?"

With Reflex finally down, Maxwell's Demon turns his attention to Incubus.

"You, oddly, could be trouble. Greg?"

And Geforce changes targets, intending to lift Incubus skyward and take his gravity away as quickly as possible. Meanwhile, Maxwell looks to Dialation and again attempts to rob him of his air.

"I'm going to keep doing this until you decide to stay down."

"I'm not much of a fan of the future," said Almond carelessly, "I have a pretty pessimistic… outlook."

He raised his cane and started the fireworks.

Dialation is already in the air when Maxwell targets him. Dialation crashes hard into Geforce, knocking Incubus loose. Incubus grabs Stryker flesh on flesh.

Re: Training Mission 1 - Keep Away

"That's…….not good."

Maxwell looks to Current and Roxanne.

"Change of plan. Incubus goes down and Incubus goes down now!"

00:21:00

Incubus gets Stryker's memories and powers. Maxwell's yelling is distracting him, but he is able to get the sense that Xavier is in the dorms, "Xavier's upstairs!" he yells to Dialation, who's wrapped in a tangle with Geforce.

Re: Training Mission 1 - Keep Away
Post by Marisol Morales on Oct 2, 2006, 10:51am

Current jumped towards Incubus, after he'd let loose the truth.
"But you'll never get to tell where," he growled as he tried to hit him with an electrically loaded cane.

Re: Training Mission 1 - Keep Away

"I suck as leader."

Maxwell again focuses on Dialation, intending to drain him of air before he can free himself from Geforce.

"This is all your fault!"

Rolling around on the ground with Dialation, Geforce was quickly learning learning that mano et mano was not his preferred fighting style. Positioning himself at the bottom of the tangle Geforce looks up at Dialation,

"You. Off. Now."

With that he attempts to reverse Dillan's gravity and send him crashing into the ceiling.

So much going on, so much to do, even Golem's getting broke apart; he's reforming, but if Lex can just pull that trick again…

I look around, frantic, trying to see what I can do, and I spot Greg using his powers on Dialation, trying to toss him around. Gives me an idea.

I focus on the ground under Dillan and start to push it apart, making a sinkhole beneath the floor, a little trap that shouldn't take too much effort crack. "Greg, can you drop him? Hard?"

Re: Training Mission 1 - Keep Away
Post by Alexander "Cadmus" Baptiste on Oct 2, 2006, 11:05am

Geforce smirked.

"It would be a pleasure."

Reversing his previous attempt, Geforce attempts to return normal Gravity to Dialation, at a much higher intensity.

Max's attempt to draw the air from Dialation works great..unfortunately, his control isn't as precise as he'd like, so he manages to sap the air from Geforce too, both NM are winded.

Incubus and Current are facing off…when Incubus realizes that he can outrun the old dude. He immediately beats a hasty retreat going for the stairs.

Re: Training Mission 1 - Keep Away
Post by Marisol Morales on Oct 2, 2006, 12:05pm

Current didn't hesitate with throwing his cane at Incubus' legs. For good measure, he also sent out two torrents of electricity from his hands. He let the flow of energy cease and did it again. And once more, before he started moving after him and tried to see if he'd hit anything.

Re: Training Mission 1 - Keep Away
Post by K'lar on Oct 2, 2006, 12:08pm

00:22:30 -

Yey for a shitty agility stat. Current hobbles towards the stairs, seeing that he did manage to tag Incubus twice. Incubus is clutching his leg, which seems to be paralized from the shock.

Re: Training Mission 1 - Keep Away
Post by Marisol Morales on Oct 2, 2006, 12:15pm

«Agility decides the odds of hitting something successfully? Didn't know that.»

Almond grinned slightly when he finally caught up with Incubus. He delivered a swift kick at his ribs (no visible effect) before he picked up his cane, which was lying on the floor a few feet away. He wondered why he had bothered to throw it in the first place.
He carefully took a few steps on the stairs to make sure he was between Incubus and his target. He lifted his cane above his head.
"Sticks and stones may break my bones…" he silently gloated, as he took aim for his head and lowered the metal stick with as much power as he could muster.

«No, it effected his ability to dodge »

00:22:45 Incubus reached up and grabs Current's hand, triggering his powers

Re: Training Mission 1 - Keep Away
Post by Marisol Morales on Oct 2, 2006, 12:25pm

Current was starting to notice something about himself. Instead of panic… instead of FEAR, he always seemed to feel anger.
"Let go of me!" he almost yelled in Incubus' face and struggled as best as he could. The fact that he couldn't do anything made him even madder. He began to gather energy into himself, when he realized that with those few seconds of contact, Xavier would probably already have been immune to it like he was. Well…
This would hurt a lot, he thought to himself, as he rammed his head into Incubus'.

Re: Training Mission 1 - Keep Away
Post by Wreck on Oct 2, 2006, 12:25pm

Maxwell looks at the fallen Geforce, frowning.

"Um, sorry about that."

Then he looks at the nearby Golem.

"Golem, please punch Dillan in the face before he gets up. I think we lost track of Incubus, and that isn't good."

Re: Training Mission 1 - Keep Away
Post by Roxanne "Madrock" Madison on Oct 2, 2006, 12:29pm

I hadn't lost track of them, though, and even though I don't have Golem with me at the moment, I can still contribute. I take out a chunk of the dirt ball that I'm floating, about as big as I am, and hurl it Incubus' way. "Leave him alone!"

Re: Training Mission 1 - Keep Away
Post by Alexander "Cadmus" Baptiste on Oct 2, 2006, 12:33pm

Greg would have mouthed multiple expletives in Maxwell's direction were it not for the fact that he was having issues with the whole breathing thing. Noting both Dialation and Incubus' locations and statuses, Geforce decides to take a moment to gain his breath back and try to shake of the effects of Maxwell's misfire before making his next move.
