Shrinking #2 - Kelly
Post by Star/Muse on Jan 30, 2007, 10:30pm

*Joint work between me and Proto - he's the shrink, and anything to do with the shrink is his idea.*

Cover Description: Dr. Spooner and Kelly in his office, a menacing shadow can be seen on the far right.

Walking in through the glossy doors, the first thing she heard was the shrill beeping of the intercom. “Hi, I’m Kelly Thorley, here for the-“ she was unceremoniously cut off.

“Yeah, just a moment, please,” she was told by the receptionist. “Oh, you can go on in,” she added, as if an afterthought.

Kelly walked into the doctor’s office and put her backpack down next to her seat just like last time, but waited for permission before taking a seat.

Dr. Spooner looked up from his notebook, "Hello Kelly."

"Hi, Dr. Spooner."

"Have a seat and we will begin."

Sitting down, she sighed softly. “What do you want to go over today?”

He flipped through his notebook and read for a moment. "I believe we left off with your best friend, the one that slept with your boyfriend." He paused. "Unless of course you have something from this week that you would like to discuss first."

“Like I said the first time I was here, I don’t really think I have anything to discuss at all. About anything. I mean, the only reason I came was because Professor Xavier thought it would be a good idea. I think he’s getting quite a few of the students to see a psychiatrist.”

"Alright, then we'll more right along. Tell me about your friend."

Kelly laughed at this. “Well, to be honest, she should be here far more than I should. She was quite…perturbed in general. She had quite a few issues. I think she had abandonment issues, she had trouble believing she could be loved, and she would cut herself, among other things.”

"I see," He jotted a few words in the notebook. "Tell me about your relationship with her."

She shrugged again. "Well, I don't know, really. We got along well, and she was my best friend there for a while. But then when this other girl rejected her, she started transferring her romantic feelings from her to me…"

"Hmm, so she was a lesbian? I take it that you are not bisexual. How did this event effect your relationship?"

I sighed. "I tried to push past it and take things back to normal, but she just stayed in her room for days and then came back out goth'd up."

"It sounds as though she has many deep rooted emotional issues. How did this all effect you?"

"Not much at all. It just made me a little sad that I was failing when I was trying to reach out to her and help her."

He wrote a bit more. "Kelly, we need to get to your deeper feelings about these things. These sessions are supposed to help you work through this." He pauses. "How did you feel seeing her like that?"

"Honestly? Just like I said. Sad, and a bit like a failure. And, well… like I was to blame for her changing herself."

"From what you've told me, you shouldn't blame yourself. The girl was emotionally troubled and had a breakdown. You aren't a failure, that much is clear. What happened next?"

"Well, we all said some things to her, trying to get to the bottom of her change. Later on, Jay went up to her room to talk to her. I went up a little later to try and comfort her, and sat down outside her room, waiting for when I could. I fell asleep waiting and they woke me up in the morning when leaving her room."

"This was the night they slept together?"

"Yeah," she replied with another shrug, trying to express how little it meant to her now.

"How did you feel when you found out?" He asked her.

She raised an eyebrow at the doctor curiously. "Isn't that a bit obvious? I felt hurt and betrayed. They walked out, woke me up accidentally, and didn't even tell me. I thought that they just fell asleep."

"That is despicable," The doctor said. "Tell me more about those feelings, the deeper feelings. The specific feelings for each person."

"It was pretty much just that. I thought that Jay had changed… that he wouldn't hurt me, that he wouldn't lie to me - but he did. I thought that I could always rely on Meghan - turns out I was wrong. I didn't understand how either of them could just lie to me like that, either. It's behind me now. It doesn't matter anymore."

"No, Kelly. It does still matter, this affected you more than you know. You need to forgive them if you're ever going to move past this."

"I forgave them quite a while ago. It doesn't mean I want anything to do with them. I'm past it, honestly."

"Hmm," He rubbed his chin thoughfully. "Tell me about any current relationships you have, good friends or otherwise."

"Friends…" she paused to think. "I think the best of them are Kidd, Wildfire, Blind, Roxie, Wreck, Zephyr and Dillan. I'd say Jesse, but I haven't seen her around in so long and haven't really spoken to her in just as long."

He wrote a few words in the notebook. "Tell me about each of them."

"It's a bit much to go through all of them, isn't it?"

He glanced at his watch, "No, I believe we have time. Unless there is someone in particular you wish to discuss."

"Not really." Kelly sighed. "Anything specific?"

"Tell me how close you are to each one of them and your feelings about them."

"Kidd… she's almost like that pesky little sister," Kelly said with a laugh, before the laughter faded away. "She's my best friend, but she always seems to feel the need to prove something. And a little more annoyingly, to try and protect me. Even more annoyingly, she's usually on the money with that, 'cause she can tell when people are lying and stuff."

He jotted a few things down, "This may be difficult to answer, but what would you do if she betrayed you in a similar manner to Meghan?"

"Like Meghan did? No… no, that's not even a possibility. Kidd would never do anything like that. Especially not to me."

"If I'm not mistaken, you thought the same of Meghan…"

Kelly looked away sadly, before responding. "I think we've had enough today, Dr. Spooner. I'll see you next week." She picked up her bag.

"Wait," He said. "We still have another." He looked at his watch. "15 minutes."

"That's alright." A few sparks flicked out of her eyes, and she blinked a few times to keep it from happening. "I'll see you next week." She took her bag and left.

The docter gets up and moves to his desk, he picks up the phone and dials quickly. After a few moments he speaks. "Everything is going according to plan."

Pesky little sister? Why I oughta…

Nice work, but despite Spooner's obviously evil, he seems to be a crappy shrink.

It's funny to hear Oro say that, because my first reaction was:

"Worst. Psychologist. Ever."

Bleh, the psychologist is probably on Jay's payroll or something.

"I think the best of them are Kidd, Wildfire, Blind, Wreck, Zephyr and Dillan.!

No Nico… Bleh.

She likes Nico… a lot, as seen any time she's asked about her.

The psychologist - which is all to do with Proto, including who the psychologist is working for, and even the idea that there was more than meets the eye about him - is not on Jay's payroll.

That last part isn't much to do with Kelly at all. Which is why if anyone else does one of these, they should go to this guy.

Woah, just realised an important change that had to be made in the listing friends part. Done now.

I like this idea.
