Searching for Natalya
Post by Lisa "Nephy" Nephrahim on Sept 3, 2007, 7:33pm

Ever since I changed… I don't know, I've felt like I could trust Natalya. Maybe it's some sort of side effect, or maybe how she kept her word to me even after everything my teamates did, but It's just how I feel.

So when I have some questions, I go looking for her, at the same time examining the area, and where Gen-X got into a fight.

"I heard you were looking for me."

I appear above Lisa, floating down from the snow filled air, my black cloak billowing in the wind. I imagine I look something like a wraith, but it can't be helped - my people are in mourning, and I have to dress appropriately.

I settle down beside her, resting hand on her shoulder. "What troubles you?"

"A few things.

I can't get Joseph to leave, for starters. He dosen't belong here…"

Of course, that only leads to the other question…

"Why did you let me bring him in?"

"I didn't let him. If I had my way, I would kick him out the village…though, now, I'm not sure my family would allow it. They've grown fond of him while he's helped rebuild; he's a good boy." I cross in front of her, peering down to the village below.

"But it wasn't my decision. He's your partner. Your choice. Besides," I turn back to her. "My village is a refuge. Mostly for my kind…but we refuse no one."

"I can't apologize enough for what happened… It's all my fault…

I had NO idea they would do that. I don't… I didn't think they would have. I don't know."

I turn away from the damage.

"It's horrible."

"You have nothing to apologize for. I instigated it with my behavior at your base." I close my eyes, breath the air in deep. "It's just…I've lived a long time, Lisa. Sometimes, it becomes difficult to see my morality. I see the goal, but I lose sight of the means. Or I stop caring. Whatever."

I shake my head. "No matter how much I try I still end up like my mother. I hate irony."

"Your mother?

That's… That's the last thing I wanted to ask you about."

I look at my hands again.

"I don't FEEL any diffrent."

"You will. If it's anything like my first day, the thirst will take hold of you before its over. You'll need to feed. Fortunately, the village below gives us an ample supply of blood in exchange for fending off the bandits in this area."

"But I still don't WANT To. I mean, Joseph offered to let me feed on him, and I refused. Why?"

"Because you love him, I'd imagine."

"But vampires don't love…"

"Lisa, you saw the village. These people, my family…their not that different from regular people, aren't they? They have feeling. They're not heartless monsters. They have a side and compulsion they can't resist, but they're not beasts. And neither are you. It's like I told you - being a vampire isn't much different from being human. It's what you make of it."

"Thanks, Natalya."

Thanks a lot… I know she told me that…
