Registration Comes to the West
Post by Marisol Morales on Sept 10, 2007, 9:24am

A SHIELD transport drops in front of the West school around midday, its deafening hum filling the air. When it comes to a rest, a group of SHIELD soldiers led by a woman with short black hair approach the school, walking with definite purpose.

Keira peaks out the window, "We really need a jet like that!!" Keira goes looking for a teacher to find out what to do.

Re: Registration Comes to the West
Post by Marisol Morales on Sept 10, 2007, 9:32am

Keira runs smack dab into Ms. Faraday, who just so happens to be her level's English teacher. "Keira…" She runs a finger though her dark-red hair, sighing as she sees the transport out the window. "Keira, you…are you heading down to register?"

Keira says, "Registering? You mean for classes?"

"What's all the racketeer…."

I wake up rubbing the sleep from my eyes, wandering around the mansion for the source of all the noise.

Re: Registration Comes to the West
Post by Marisol Morales on Sept 10, 2007, 9:41am

"No, the Registration Act, honey." She bends down, placing her hand on Keira's shoulder. "They're downstairs now, asking for information from the kids at the school…they're going to want you to sign up."

Re: Registration Comes to the West
Post by Last Hero on Sept 10, 2007, 9:47am

"OH! That!!" Keira smiles. She's nervous, and not hiding it very well. She had already talked to her mom about this…several times now. "No big deal. I just wanted to know if they're gonna let me drive now! If I'm old enough for a mutant license, I should be old enough to drive!

Krystal

I'm just coming in from my afternoon jog, and I see something with the "SHIELD" Logo on it…probably not good news.

I head to the mansion first to see if anyone else knows what's going on. I'd prefer to talk to Hav, but the first teacher/advisor I see…is gonna get to to play 20 questions with me.

Re: Registration Comes to the West

Nick and Krystal both find themselves walking towards the Lounge, where the SHIELD agents and a few teachers are surrounded by a bunch of the students.

Re: Registration Comes to the West

Keira comes down to the lounge, and immediately raises her hand until she can get one of the SHIELD guys attention.

The head lady comes over to Keira with her clipboard in hand. "Do you need some help?"

Keira smiles at Nick, "Either that or I just get a really lousy allowance!"

"Better then mine. Exactly zero dollars and zero cents.

I'd warn people not to directly look into it. It's starting to suck out my soul."

Re: Registration Comes to the West
Post by Last Hero on Sept 10, 2007, 10:36am

Keira notices Krystal leaving. Before any of the SHIELD guys can pay her too much attention, she's going to try for a distraction. She makes a very loud roaring sound and stomps around the room looking menancing…ish. "My powers should make me really top scale, right?"

Re: Registration Comes to the West

I hand in my form afterward.

Re: Registration Comes to the West

Re: Registration Comes to the West

"Animals? Let's see…I think one of the guys outside has this ferret pet he keeps with him."

Re: Registration Comes to the West
Post by Last Hero on Sept 10, 2007, 11:34am

"A ferret? How am I supposed to show off my powers with just a ferret?" Keira grumbles and heads outside.

Re: Registration Comes to the West
Post by Marisol Morales on Sept 10, 2007, 11:40am

The guy with the ferret is pretty easy to spot; there are a number of agents watching students display their powers, and he's the only one nobody is paired with.

Re: Registration Comes to the West
Post by Last Hero on Sept 10, 2007, 11:42am

Keira walks over to him. Keira synchs up with the ferret and chitters out greetings to the ferret before saying, to the man, "I guess you're here to see my powers?"

Re: Registration Comes to the West
Post by Marisol Morales on Sept 10, 2007, 11:46am

"Uh-huh." He seems a bit confused from her initial greeting, but goes on. "Just tell me, then show me, and then I'll rank you."

Re: Registration Comes to the West
Post by Last Hero on Sept 10, 2007, 11:54am

"I synch up with animals and can go anything they do. Ferrets are beautiful, but not very showy…hmmm…let me see…"

She makes a loud caw sound and flaps her arms taking to the sky.

Re: Registration Comes to the West
Post by Marisol Morales on Sept 10, 2007, 11:59am

The agent claps, clearly impressed. "Not bad, not bad." He motions for her to come down. "Is that all?"

Re: Registration Comes to the West
Post by Last Hero on Sept 10, 2007, 12:01pm

Keira drops lightly to the ground and says, "It all depends on what animals are around. I've never seen one I couldn't synch with. Even really bizarre, creepy mutant animals you couldn't imagine. No problem at all!"

Re: Registration Comes to the West
Post by Marisol Morales on Sept 10, 2007, 12:05pm

"Hm…I see, I see." He sighs, taking out a scanner that hits Keira with a green light. "Don't worry, it's harmless…you sure there's nothing else about your powers?"

Re: Registration Comes to the West
Post by Last Hero on Sept 10, 2007, 12:08pm

Eddie shows up, although he's barely recognizable with his hair cut short and a polo shirt on.

"Yeah about this whole registration thing…" he says to the closest SHIELD person…

"I'm not going to do it, and YOU can't make me! This is a violation of my civil rights!"

He turns to run away, telepathically controlling a flock of geese to get between him and SHIELD so he can get lost.

Joshua is round the back, watching it all with a bored look on his eye.

In reality he's sifting through the monitor systems on the Helicarrier, trying to find what exactly they're planning, like channel surfing. Maybe a conversation here, a sentinel plan on a monitor here. He's sure he'll be able to break into the place and get out undetected, he's good at that kind of stuff, he doubt his supervisors will like that. So he sticks with passive ops work. Still he's keeping an eye on the registering.

"If you tell me what you plan to do with said firearm, maybe. Not that I don't trust you, you seem like a bright enough girl, but I'm not in the habit of handing over my standard issue to people I just met."

"I can do this thing with my powers, I would like to show you," Sadie says, a little fire in her voice. "If my powers are such a big deal, it's very important for my demonstration. I won't hurt it."

The head lady seems a bit reluctant, but she hands it over. "If you're going to do what I think you're going to do, this isn't the best place…"

"It's really NOT Sadie."

Re: Registration Comes to the West
Post by Sadie "Suicide Queen" Hannoura on Sept 11, 2007, 11:47pm

"No, if they want to catalogue, they need to know."

She turns to the room. "Ok, everyone! THIS is what I do, yeah, you, you in my history class, you wanna know my power, yeah, I know you laugh about it, here, I'll show you precisely what it is I do," she shouts, snatching the pistol and biting down hard on the barrel.

There's a flash of gunpowder and a muffled crack.

She drops to the floor and lies there, dead.

"…"

I produce a cleaning rag and begin wiping off my glasses.

"Damnit Sadie, that's not funny…"

After ten minutes, Sadie staggers up, coughing gunpowder. "That's not all, though," she hacks.

She picks up the pistol and tosses it to Nick. "Shoot me."

Pretty much whatever you'd expect to happen, happens. Tons of gasps, from students and agents alike. Whispers. Plenty of screams.

"Everyone, calm down, NOW!" The head lady's voice belows about the room. Her power is self-resurrection. She'll be fine. You two," She motions to two of the nearest agents. "Take her outside, get her scanned…stamped, too. Class X, understand."

They nod, and haul Sadie away, as head lady goes over to do damage control with the students

"I think you already got the 'special' rating. Do we really need to continue?"

Re: Registration Comes to the West
Post by Sadie "Suicide Queen" Hannoura on Sept 11, 2007, 11:59pm

"You can't label me! That's not my power!" she screams as she kicks at the agents. "It's a fucking curse!

"I am yanked away from a little white light, literally, everytime that happens! I was raised devout Catholic, and I am tethered to this miserable ball of rot and jerks! Catalogue that, lady! I am so lonely and misunderstood I could scream, I just want to die sometimes, and I can't even do that! Catalogue that, lady.

I am barren, my insides are so screwed up because of that shock to my body, catalogue THAT, too!

Classify my heartbreak."

She raises her head as she passes Nick. "Is the adrenaline rush, y'know…wreaks havoc on me each time…" and she gives a weak grin and passes out again.

The head lady pauses for a moment, making another motion for her men to stop hauling Sadie off. "Take her inside the transport. Smelling salts to wake her up. I'll be in to talk with her in a moment."

"Haa………."

Sadie…

I hold the interviewer's gun out to her.

"I'm much more boring, I just cut things. File me under the normal mutants."

Re: Registration Comes to the West

She takes the gun as she heads out. "Understood. Head outside for a demonstration and that'll be all."

As Nick heads outside, he notices that the only line that isn't the long is Ferret Man's.

I wonder what that's about?

You know, I do like Ferrets. They're such Majestic creatures.

"Hello."

He looked as both of them left.

Course even if he did register, it couldn't be now. He'll probably have to ghost an ID.

He gives a short sigh and resumes his intel gathering.

"Hey, man." Ferret Man gives his pet a treat. "So, what's up? Ready for the demo?"

Re: Registration Comes to the West
Post by Nick Nephrahim on Sept 12, 2007, 12:23am

"Sure. But…"

I look around.

"Why are they avoiding you? Do you give really bad ratings? Should I be worried I'll be reported as a future Omega level threat?"

Re: Registration Comes to the West
Post by Marisol Morales on Sept 12, 2007, 12:26am

"Geez, kid, one question at a time. I think they're avoiding me because I give off a weird aura. Probably my sandals. But I rate just fine. And the last thing all depends on what you can do. So…what can you do?"

Re: Registration Comes to the West

"I cut things."

"Okay…can you show me?" He reaches in his pocket and produces an empty can.

I hold up my glasses for a moment, spliting the soda can into two clean slices with a swipe of my knife.

One of the agents hands Jake a form.

Re: Registration Comes to the West

Jake takes a look at the form and looks back up

"What am I signing?"

Re: Registration Comes to the West
Post by Marisol Morales on Sept 12, 2007, 1:07am

"It's the Registration Act." The agent points out the lines on the sheet. "Just fill it out, go see the guys outside for a demo, and that's that."

Re: Registration Comes to the West
Post by Jake "Flare" Lange on Sept 12, 2007, 1:09am

Didn't I already sign this?

"So you want me to sign this, and then go perform like a trained chimp?"

Re: Registration Comes to the West
Post by Marisol Morales on Sept 12, 2007, 1:11am

"Unless your power is performing like a trained chimp, then no." He shrugs. "Just a quick show of your powers. It'll take, like, ten seconds."

Re: Registration Comes to the West

"Fine, whatever."

Jake takes the paper and grabs a pen off of a table, filling it out on a wall

«Is there an actual form to do?»
