Post-Mission #22
Post by Marisol Morales on Sept 2, 2007, 11:59pm

After that little mission, Generation X regroups at the Ice and Iron Lounge in the nearby village. The owner is a bit reluctant, but gives them all individual rooms - it's not often he gets any business it seems.

Before the team retires for the night, they meet around the Lodge's kitchen table, talking while they sample the local cuisine.

Lex sits away from the rest of the group, lost in thought.

"Well that went fine and dandy…"

Groaning.

"Depending on how things go it may end up as another fight."

Nathaniel sets Banshee down at a table, and lets his head gently come to rest on it. Then quickly gets him something to drink.

Re: Post-Mission #22
Post by Marisol Morales on Sept 3, 2007, 12:26am

Banshee starts to stir, confused. "Ah…I dozed? What happened?"

Re: Post-Mission #22
Post by Joshua/Darya/Kara/Marcus on Sept 3, 2007, 12:30am

Marcus sighed.

"Things didn't go well. We were lured to the village as a distraction so Natalya could meet Nephy. I guessing Nephy knocked you out, she said she didn't have mind control. We went to the village, they tried to contain us, we tried fighting our way out and Lex… he went berserk and killed alot of them in the process.

By the time we got back Nephy was already a Vampire, she told us she chose to be one, that she didn't need to be coursed. Nathaniel, Lex, and Orchestra attacked her. Then she found out what Lex did.

She wanted revenge against us, I managed to talk her into a crease fire."

Re: Post-Mission #22
Post by Marisol Morales on Sept 3, 2007, 12:33am

Banshee takes a moment, absorbing it all. "I see."

He stands up, scratching his head. "Quite a mess…but at least you all made it out okay…" He looks around. "I notice we're three short."

Re: Post-Mission #22
Post by Joshua/Darya/Kara/Marcus on Sept 3, 2007, 12:34am

"Nephy went to the vampire village, Joe and Adam followed her. They should be safe, Natalya made a promise not to hurt them to Nephy."

Re: Post-Mission #22
Post by Marisol Morales on Sept 3, 2007, 12:40am

Banshee nods. "So, that's the thick of it. And I assume we're in transit for the time being." He takes out his pipe, gives it a light. "Lex, when this is over, you and I are going to have some words."

Re: Post-Mission #22
Post by Protoman on Sept 3, 2007, 12:41am

Lex doesn't reply, he's deep in thought.

Re: Post-Mission #22
Post by Joshua/Darya/Kara/Marcus on Sept 3, 2007, 12:44am

"Well hopefully we'll be able to negotiate this through without an fight on our hands. Maybe even get Nephy back."

A small hope. A really small hope. Not just for himself, but for Sara.

Nathaniel brings too drinks around. Nothing hard, but enough to wet the lips, and shake some cobwebs. He slides one in front of Cassidy. "Not much, but tis something."

Re: Post-Mission #22

"We're not killing vampires, that's an order."

Re: Post-Mission #22
Post by Orchestra the Mighty on Sept 3, 2007, 1:52am

"Forgive me, was I asleep when you were put in charge of this tribe? Whatever affection you may have for those creatures, discard it. They have seduced one of our own with their awful power. If you refuse to take the proper steps to bring her back, then you do not have the right to give any orders whatsoever."

Re: Post-Mission #22
Post by Joshua/Darya/Kara/Marcus on Sept 3, 2007, 1:54am

"I was put in charge of this tribe by Banshee, Orchestra. And if we're going to kill dozens more men, woman, and children to bring her back, all who haven't harmed us by the way, it won't be worth it. Hell it won't even work, all it'll do is leave Nephy alone, and show her we're monsters."

Re: Post-Mission #22
Post by Orchestra the Mighty on Sept 3, 2007, 1:55am

"Then what are you suggesting, we leave them be? We let her live life as an undead creature? Death would be a blessing for her, for all of them."

Re: Post-Mission #22

"Not to them… and not to her. There are the people who would the same about mutants."

Re: Post-Mission #22
Post by Orchestra the Mighty on Sept 3, 2007, 1:59am

"I am not a mutant, and maybe, just maybe, those people would not be incorrect. For a species to live it must be able to eradicate those that choke at it's growth."

Re: Post-Mission #22

"Chess is often the metaphor of choice for the battlefield. Pawns are often used as canonfodder. They are designed to stand in your way, and wear you down. Where do we draw the line between pawns, and savable? We do not. They stand in our way, and cost us valueable time. Today we lost one. Was it really her choice, or was she coerced into it? Matters not. The fact is she is slowly drifting away from the person we cared about. Vampires hunger is not natural, and it is too easy to succomb to the bloodlust. So what does that mean for someone like Nephy? She has become something alot more then what she was, and her bloodlust has the potential to slaughter countless. Yet I would still give her time to flee, and prove me wrong." He takes a nice long chug from the big glass mug. "Say what you well, but they are doomed to hell. Here on Earth, your Hell, or any number of hells that will have them. Because that is the way the curse works."

Re: Post-Mission #22
Post by Orchestra the Mighty on Sept 3, 2007, 2:03am

"I have seen her fierceness in combat, she could not withstand the bloodlust that comes with her condition. We would doing her a favor by ending her existence.

Go drink for the both of us, Dan."

Re: Post-Mission #22
Post by Joshua/Darya/Kara/Marcus on Sept 3, 2007, 2:04am

"So we're all better off dead Orchestra? We're not killing them and that's final, unless you want to start a fight that'll jeopardized all of us, as well as our families. We're not messing that up. If you keep on insisting to killing them, then we're leaving you behind during the meeting tomorrow."

Re: Post-Mission #22
Post by Joshua/Darya/Kara/Marcus on Sept 3, 2007, 2:06am

He turns to Nathaniel.

"You don't know that, they never attacked us, they were the ones who vouched for non-violence. And if you consider their stakes. Plus, they lived in harmony with this village, if that's possible, then are they really as savage as you say?"

Re: Post-Mission #22
Post by Orchestra the Mighty on Sept 3, 2007, 2:08am

I grin at Marcus.

"You who are given all of the advantages by the virtue of your birth…mutants…if you would allow yourselves to be killed by the humans, those who cannot fly without metal wings, swim under the waves without metal lungs, and cut without metal claws…if you would allow yourselves to be killed by beings like that then death is a fate you deserve." I spit.

"It is called survival of the fittest."

Re: Post-Mission #22

Lex gets up and walks out of the room and outside.

Re: Post-Mission #22
Post by Joshua/Darya/Kara/Marcus on Sept 3, 2007, 2:13am

The spit gets vaporized by plasma.

"And not trampling over the weak, killing to reach for the top, eradicating entire species for our own gain. Having rules to follow, lines not to cross. It's called morality."

Re: Post-Mission #22
Post by Sir Nathaniel/Fang on Sept 3, 2007, 2:15am

"Savage? I never called them that. Bloodlust is something that usually comes around a vampires first feeding time. Some compare it to sex between the average couple. Just like that the Vampire is left wanton till they learn to control it. What do I know? Years of demonology from three sects of the Order, and various other groups that have studied the paranormal. They tried to force us into waiting while something was happening to one of our own. Something none us will ever be satisfied with the truth about. You can question yourself on the justification of killing them, they stood in our way, and prevented us from doing what we came to do. Sean, Nephy, and the lot of us could have died. Leadership comes with hard decisions, so remember this, sometimes doing the right thing is not doing the right thing."

Re: Post-Mission #22

"You speak to me of a purely human creation, morality means nothing on the grand battlefield. I believe Nathaniel knows this, Lex too."

"Sean wasn't harmed at all, Nephy was the one who knocked him out in the first place. No marks on him, no bruises. Before Natalya even arrived. Guess who has the power to do that sort of thing? Nephy… and Nephy… if she truly chose to be one of them… If she was controlled Natalya, then she wouldn't have needed to keep us alive."

He turns to Nathaniel.

"They could've tried to kill us, they could've tried something other than stopping us. They didn't. They can live with humanity in harmony, they can feel compassion, hold virtue, hold morals. They never intended on killing any of us Nathaniel. These vampires are not monsters and considering this society is different from normal vampires. The demonology books might not be completely accurate."

He looked down.

"If we killed them all, we'd be committing genocide."

Re: Post-Mission #22
Post by Orchestra the Mighty on Sept 3, 2007, 2:30am

"Are you going to cry?" I ask, bending my body, so that I'm looking upwards at Marcus' downward glance.

"The leader of those creatures attacked us to lure one of our own for the sake of destroying the other clans. What they seek to do is little more than what humans want to do to mutants. They are the humans, the other tribes are the mutants, and Nephy is their Sentinel."

"You and your morals should ponder that."

Re: Post-Mission #22

[That's up to Last. If I was doing it, we would be using a cross between Vampire Hunter D, and John Carpenter's Vampires.]

"Not genocide, they have no souls. Like most demons. They forfeited there right to live when they were turned. You want to save them? Check your contracts oh King of Hell." Nathaniel takes another long pull from the large glass mug.

Re: Post-Mission #22
Post by Joshua/Darya/Kara/Marcus on Sept 3, 2007, 2:37am

"Demi's a demon. You're half a demon. These vampires are exactly like us in almost every respect. Are we going to be the ones lifting the hammer of holier than thou judgement on killing species? Do we really have the god damn right to tell who deserves to live and who deserves to die? Do you think they care about abstract concepts like souls, they're just people who work to live the best they can, who care for their families, who want to survive and let their loved one survive. So does an monster like Magneto deserve to live more than these people, just because he has a soul? Look what he's done with his life and look at what these people done with theirs."

Re: Post-Mission #22
Post by Orchestra the Mighty on Sept 3, 2007, 2:37am

"Applying that logic, Magneto is right." I muse. "

"Our words are wasted on this one Nathaniel. The only proper point he made was about who has the right to judge whether a species lives. All species live on this world, and if they cannot defend themselves they do not deserve to live. It is the same with those vampires, it is the same with mutantkind."

Re: Post-Mission #22

"Perhaps he spent too much time in hell."

Re: Post-Mission #22

"Give him time. His heart is in the right place. The rest will come. I have heard this argument before in the great hall. The basic idea is that we are not much different with our need for meat to provide nutrients. The world over thousands of animals are slaughtered each day. Most of the world does not even honor them with the hunt any more. They slaughter them like cowards. So in a way he is right."

Re: Post-Mission #22

Marcus hated this.

He really did.

He was appointed to lead the team, despite nervousness he accepted. Now what did he have?

He has half the team not accepting him and refusing to follow his orders.

The other half breaking off.

One member going berserk and mass murdering innocent people.

Two more plotting to slaughter the rest.

Now he has to placate the situation before it becomes an all-out war, so Alexia would be safe, convince Nathaniel and Orchestra to not outright kill more likely than not, innocent people. To tell the truth their behavior is almost disgusting to him.

Not to mention Nephy turned herself into a vampire.

"God damn it."

In other words, Generation X, you suck.
