Paint The Town… A Less Violent Colour
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 23, 2007, 6:03pm

[So, I looked it up? Couldn't actually find any actual restaurants (not like, pizza restaurants, and that kind) in Oregon other than Hooters. I thought 'yeah… no.' So this restaurant that they're going to visit is called 'whatevertheheckyouwant'.

So sue me. I'm lazy.

Third person for this part.]

It takes a while… if three hours falls under the 'a while' category, but Kelly finds a restaurant. Well… she did find restaurants before it, but the seedier, more run down restaurants didn't quite feel appropriate, and she found the 'Hooters' she was led to a little offensive.

So it took three hours to find a nice restaurant.

Managing that, she headed back to the bus and dragged the Hellions out and to the restaurant, before going back in, asking for the manager, and holding a slightly drawn out conversation with him, smiling sweetly all the while. Finally, she heads back out to where the rest of the Hellions are waiting.

"Okay, let's go in!"

Wreck glances around.

"Well, it isn't exactly Hooters, but it'll do."

I slap my forehead with a sigh.

"Yes, I hear Hooters has great wings"

Re: Paint The Town… A Less Violent Colour
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 23, 2007, 6:27pm

"Hooter's isn't a nice place," I say quietly while the whole group's lead to a table. I pick up the menu and glance at it a moment - then become very, very grateful we won't be paying directly for it.

"Wow. This place is expensive."

Re: Paint The Town… A Less Violent Colour
Post by Casey "Phase" Semple on Jul 23, 2007, 6:29pm

I almost chuckle aloud by what Kelly thinks is "expensive".

Re: Paint The Town… A Less Violent Colour

"I think I'd have to dart hustle for a month to order a cheeseburger."

Re: Paint The Town… A Less Violent Colour
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 23, 2007, 6:31pm

I glance over the menu again.

"I don't think there's actually a cheeseburger on the menu… but I spoke with the manager, and it's okay. I sorted it all out, so don't worry about it!"

Re: Paint The Town… A Less Violent Colour
Post by Casey "Phase" Semple on Jul 23, 2007, 6:41pm

"Kelly, I'd have no problem treating everyone. Of course Shreck might be more at home washing the dishes for his meal…"

"I mean I wouldn't want to insult his pride…assuming he has any of course…"

Re: Paint The Town… A Less Violent Colour
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 23, 2007, 6:44pm

"Casey! Don't be rude! Anyway, I spoke with the manager and showed him our Institute identification, and asked him to call the school. The Professor gave him credit detail to cover everything, and since none of it came from our end, or specifically from our cards, I don't think it can be traced back to us."

Re: Paint The Town… A Less Violent Colour
Post by Wreck on Jul 23, 2007, 6:46pm

"Huh. I guess it means he doesn't think we're serial killers or whatever we're being accused of. That's a plus."

Wreck would appear to be completely ignoring Casey.

Re: Paint The Town… A Less Violent Colour
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 23, 2007, 6:48pm

"Of course. The Professor wouldn't believe that."

Re: Paint The Town… A Less Violent Colour
Post by Casey "Phase" Semple on Jul 23, 2007, 6:53pm

"Right-o!"

"Well…Ms. Thorley…you picked the restaurant…what would you recommend?"

Re: Paint The Town… A Less Violent Colour
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 23, 2007, 6:56pm

"I honestly have no idea."

I stick my head back into the menu, but I can't really get over the prices.

"It's actually a bit loud in here, so I might duck back out in a little while. Just for a while, though. Oh, hey, they have Persian dishes! Oh, then I recommend the salan!"

Re: Paint The Town… A Less Violent Colour
Post by Casey "Phase" Semple on Jul 23, 2007, 6:58pm

"Salan? From a restaurant in Oregon?"

Re: Paint The Town… A Less Violent Colour
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 23, 2007, 6:59pm

"Don't ask me," I shrug. "It's on the menu…."

I glance around me.

"This place… the restaurant's nice, but the town doesn't seem so… I don't know…."

Re: Paint The Town… A Less Violent Colour

"Ooh, calamari. That's surprisingly good stuff, for squid."

Wreck looks around as well.

"….um, yeah. What sort of town actually has a functioning carrier pigeon emporium?"

"Hooters would have had beer."

Re: Paint The Town… A Less Violent Colour

"What is it with all of you and hooters? And if you want something to drink, this place has wine."

Re: Paint The Town… A Less Violent Colour

He looks at her with a raised eyebrow

"Women drink wine, men drink beer."

I stick my tongue out with a smile.

"I don't drink wine."

I shake my head.

"I don't drink."

Shaman sets a hand down on the table and smirks.

"I have an ID that works for everyone."

"A single tap can convince someone that we're all of age. It's a nice little party trick."

He laughs a bit at Wreck's comment

"You could always try not dying until after you sober up."

"Because the girls wear low cut tops? They also bank more then the 'classy' waitresses working here."

She glances around before looking at Shaman again.

"Soooo are you getting us some type of alcohol?"

Re: Paint The Town… A Less Violent Colour

He turns back to Kelly

"Give us some credit Kel."

He laughs and glances at the bar

"I'd get some drinks, but honestly, not feeling the red wine."

I rub my forehead, actually starting to get a slight headache. Where's Alexander?

"Is beer all you think about?"

Re: Paint The Town… A Less Violent Colour

"Sorry kid"

Shaman gestures at Kelly and two telekinetic hands start to lightly rub her temples as he looks back to Val.

"There's a case in my fridge, I thought you knew that."

"Basically, beer's bad for you."

Re: Paint The Town… A Less Violent Colour

"I wouldn't know what fast food's like back in England. Never had it. Never had it here either. My dad tried his hand at fried chicken once, before. I couldn't eat for three days," I smile blankly.

How is anyone this upbeat all the time?

Re: Paint The Town… A Less Violent Colour

Re: Paint The Town… A Less Violent Colour
Post by Shaman on Jul 24, 2007, 3:24pm

He shakes his head.

"I still have to eat, it just gets me hungry. And you're really bad about categorizing weed and tobacco as the same thing just because both get smoked."

Re: Paint The Town… A Less Violent Colour

A little silence settles, and my smile shifts into one born more of curiousity.

"So why do you smoke… you know…?"

Re: Paint The Town… A Less Violent Colour
Post by Shaman on Jul 24, 2007, 3:55pm

"Back before, from what I do remember, it was just something I did for the sake of doing. But after I got my powers, after everything was over written…I was just angry. Out of control angry. And then one day I got high again, and I saw things clear and relaxed."

He pulls the tin out of his pocket and sets it in front of him.

"When I'm sober I'm just a weapon for mother to direct and unleash…when I smoke, I'm as much me again as I can be."

Re: Paint The Town… A Less Violent Colour

"Alright."

After last time, I have cards on me. I don't want to be scrambling around looking for some - not that I'd be able to find any around here.

The downside is that I'm not any better with them yet.

I fan them out and shut my eyes.

"Pick a card."

He gestures one from the pile, seven of spades.

Re: Paint The Town… A Less Violent Colour

"Was it this one?"

"Pick one, memorize it, let me only see the back of it."

Re: Paint The Town… A Less Violent Colour
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 24, 2007, 4:28pm

I slide a card out, glancing at it. The Jack of Spades.

"Okay!"

Re: Paint The Town… A Less Violent Colour
Post by Shaman on Jul 24, 2007, 4:32pm

"Ok, watch."

The card moves from her hand back into the deck which beings to shuffle itself.

"First rule, always reshuffle it yourself."

If she looks close enough she can see a little bend on a single card. Shuffle, shuffle, cut. set down.

"Now is this it?"

A card removes itself from the middle of the desk, jack of spades.

"Ok, ok"

He shuffles the cards, taking a few quick peeks and stacking it as he sees fit, in a method that is almost unnoticable.

"Alright, so first we take five off of the top."

He deals out the five cards. Ace of Diamonds, six of hearts, 2 of spades, queen of hearts, ten of diamonds.

"The diamonds show wealth, the ace signifying a great deal, but the ten showing us that it wont be for a little while. The spades show us that death comes early, but the hearts show love coming after death. So death is read as what you've already gone through."

Re: Paint The Town… A Less Violent Colour
Post by Kelly Alecia "Star Girl" Lisa on Jul 24, 2007, 5:42pm

"Oh, wow! I guess the number for the spades can't really be for how many times, 'cause most don't get more than one, but it's weird that it's two and I've had it twice, but still that's so cool!"

Re: Paint The Town… A Less Violent Colour

"Do mine? Alright."

Ah crap. He just shuffles it up again, pulls five more. King of hearts, jack of spades, three of clubs, four of diamonds, three of hearts.

"Let's see if I can get this. Death will come late with honor, darkness will loom behind me during the next few years, money will come in early and dry up, while I'll love early but it wont be forever, though when I do find my own it will be forever."

It's a fucking gag! I'm bullshitting!

He sighs and reshuffles, dealing out five more cards. Two of clubs, four of diamonds, queen of spades, ace of hearts, six of diamonds.

"The dark patch comes early and breezes by like a small wind, money comes in a fair amount on two occasions not far apart, nothing life altering but still there. Death comes due to standing at the side of someone else, the queen is the sacrifice. But the ace tells me that your heart's fulfillment comes in full."

And there are guidelines set out as to the way that the animal is killed, and then the blood has to be drained from the body after it's been killed, because you can't eat anything with blood in it, and then there are guidelines set out for the preparation."

"We don't, uh… we don't do green tea ice cream."

"Bubblegum." I say, apparently having been there the entire time.

Also, the word "Bubblegum" has never been uttered in such a manly fashion in the entire history of the word.

[Of course, Nadia has no reason to feel jealous, since she has her own little ice cream maker.]

The waiter paces off, scowling at the fact that he's being sent back to get more.

"Bubblegum?" I ask.

The waiter comes back with the in cream, still looking fairly annoyed, and then paces off.

"Now when you say you have a solution would you say that we're talking, 'Hey, why don't I crush the ancient evil up in her chair?' or is it an idea that doesn't suck?" I say with a broad smile.

«They're all non-verbal, even the person receiving it doesn't realize how they heard it»

"You be the judge my brother, you be the judge."

I tap the bowl that I just drained. "More."

You know I usually like to keep my wits about me, and thus, am typically greatful for the fact that it's so difficult for me to get buzzed. I like to be at the top of my game at all times. How wise is it for me to throw that attitude to the wind? Even just once? With my luck, I would be caught with my pants down, so to speak and wind up too wasted to be useful.

Then again? I spent days being subjected to mental torture at the whims of Darkforce empowered psychopath. Fuck it.

"Much more. Yeah, it would be great. Get him to get Dionysus in on it, and it's guaranteed to to be epic."

The waiter brings two more bowls over to Cadmus, and another mug to Shaman.

"The stuff of legends my friend, the stuff of legends."

He lifts for another toast.

«Is it wrong that I think it would make for a great fic? Cadmus, Shaman, and whichever Hellion guy can hold his booze getting drunk with the gods?»

Re: Paint The Town… A Less Violent Colour

I clink one of the bowls with Shaman's mug and start to knock it back.

"Heh. Stuff of legends. Quite literally, considering who we're talking about. It would be a hell of a story to tell the kids, immediately following 'The Ten Labors.' 'And then a couple thousand years later, Hercules and your father went out and got sloshed together.'"

«Wrong? Not. Even. A little. Heading to bed now.»

"While the Shaman hit one up out behind the throne with Hermes and Apollo."

He lets out a laugh and takes another drink

"Imagine coming back with notches on the belt, an even better tale. 'Now kids, let me tell you about the three way with Aphrodite and Demeter."

"Only 52 pickup. I can do coin tricks, though."

Then, neither quarter manages to come down.
