New Mutants #122 - Go West, Young Muties…
Post by K'lar on Apr 27, 2007, 9:15am

[[A few days after Rogue makes the announcement. About 8 AM the morning they are leaving, Manny is sitting in the Wreck Room working on fixing what appears to be a broken television remote. He has a huge grin on his face.]]

«Oh, right, totally forgot about this…»

Marisol wasn't really sure if she should, but she decided to approach Manny and see how he was doing.
"Uh, hello there. So how do you like it here?"

Post by K'lar on Apr 27, 2007, 9:32am

Manny smiles at Marisol, "This place is ridiclous!! I am not even sure what this thing I'm fixing is. I think Mr. McCoy is testing me. He keeps just handing my piles of parts and asking me to fix them."

"And you like doing that?"

Re: New Mutants #122 - Go West, Young Muties…
Post by K'lar on Apr 27, 2007, 9:36am

Manny nods, "Yeah! As far as mutant powers go, at least mine is fun!" Manny looks at the finished thing, "What is this thing anyway?"

Marisol looks and it actually is the TV remote…the one with the 3-D projection that Forge set up for them.

"Gooood morning."

I show up, wearing obscenely loud colors. Because if we're going to California, this is my inpenetrable "Asian tourist" disguise. Also: large camera.

Re: New Mutants #122 - Go West, Young Muties…
Post by Marisol Morales on Apr 27, 2007, 9:38am

"It's a remote for the television, I believe. I don't watch it much, but I recognize it."

She tried smiling a little.

"And I'm glad you enjoy your power…"

Re: New Mutants #122 - Go West, Young Muties…
Post by K'lar on Apr 27, 2007, 9:42am

Manny nods a greeting at Amelia before saying to Marisol, "Yeah, and at least I can be useful around here! I can't create wind or shape shift, but hey, you guys can't fix busted TV remotes!"

Re: New Mutants #122 - Go West, Young Muties…
Post by Marisol Morales on Apr 27, 2007, 9:50am

"That's very true. Forge isn't always around, and he's more of a builder than a fixer…"

She liked encouraging other people.

Post by Amelia "Heaven" Chow on Apr 27, 2007, 9:52am

"Well, I can't fix them, that's true…"

I create a television remote. It doesn't work, but he has no reason to know that.

Re: New Mutants #122 - Go West, Young Muties…
Post by K'lar on Apr 27, 2007, 9:54am

Manny nods seemingly in awe, "Forge built this thing in the first place, right? That is just amazing to me. I can put it back together, but I can't really build something like this… Of course, I can't understand what half these buttons do…what language is this, anyway??"

Manny reaches out and picks up Amelia's remote, "Wow…that is amazing!"

"Oh come on Marisol. You can't be angry that I tried to prank the new guy."

I wink at her.

"Anyway, yes and no. All my creations have to be simple, but some simple things can be quite effective."

I draw my sword, turn it around, and hand it to him.

"See? It's completely functional."

Um, we just met this guy. So I'm ready to make that disappear in an instant.

Rowdy looks around Pester's room, and begins putting laundry in the hamper. He pulls the blankets and sheets gently up over his master.

Master Status: Sleeping.

Rowdy quietly opens the door, and shuts it slowly. He trundles into the Wreck Room.

Rowdy pipes up. "Good morning, students. Do any of you require a hug? Or a frosty beverage?"

The Blackbird settles down on a nearby rooftop, and Rogue leads the New Mutants to the restaurant. There is a surly looking bouncer out front. Rogue walks up to him, "We're here for the Morales Party."

The bouncer waves them through, obviously curious about Rowdy and Orchestra, but hey, he ain't risking his job by upsetting the clientele.

Marisol studied the pictures closely, and walked along with Rogue upon exiting.

"You still looked pretty attractive. It's just that the fashion sense and attitude worked against you a little. I bet you started being seen as much better-looking when you relaxed and started feeling more at ease among the X-Men…"

She had looked better than SHE did, at least.

She was feeling a tad more nervous now. She wouldn't have thought Rogue would go to all this effort for just her…

I land inside the club beside Mystique, taking in the situation.

"Mystique, just work on getting everyone out of here. Me and Marisol can mess Sabretooth up easy, we'll catch up with the others."

I create a current between Marisol and Sabretooth, trying to lift him off the ground and hurl him away.

Sabretooth staggers back into the crowd. He grabs a teenage guy and holds him as a hostage, "Tell your boyfriend and my ex to back up, or this guy dies. This is just between me and you…."

Marisol was in the process of hesitantly jumping at Sabertooth, but scampered to a halt.

"You… can't do anything to me…" she hissed, but already knew that wasn't true. There were so many people around, each of them could work as weapons.

She looked at Zephyr and Mystique, and said: "Just go…"

Maybe it was even for the better. There was something burning in her chest, and she had a feeling she didn't want anybody watching her fighting Sabertooth.

"Marisol, I'm going to help the others, okay?" I look back up to the party room, already floating back there. "Just watch out for any tricks, don't let him get the jump on you. Whatever he's been talking about, it's just a headgame, ignore him!"

I zip back into the room and land on top of a table. "Okay…Gerald, right? Mind explaining what you're doing with Mr. Makeup, here?"

The crowd is a bit panicky. One person runs into Amelia particularly hard, her elbow hitting Amelia in the stomach.

I resist the whirlwind as best I can by weighing my self down considerably. If this wasn't supposed to be a peaceful mission I would just bring this whole place down right now.

"I assure you," I scream through the howling vortex, "that there's nothing about Sinister's practices that you can tell me that I don't know about! I made my choice. I'll see it through until either myself, or McCoy are dead!"

Different tact than bringing the place down, since Sinister and the New Mutants are on the floor above. Instead of roof dropping, I go floor raising. I reverse and in increase the gravity of the ground, attempting to make it "collapse" upwards onto Zephyr.

Well, this is just great. I make my displeasure very apparent. More likely than not, it would be attributed to the fact that I might have to drop the backstabbing, so he should continue telling us. I hope.

I actually have no intent to drop the backstabbing, though.

"It's not the same. I wasn't protecting anyone, or doing it for some kind of greater good. It was just… vengeance. I attacked two people who couldn't possibly hurt me, and viciously killed them…"

"And you think Wolverine hasn't done that? Marisol, look, if you realize it's a problem, then you're halfway to solving it…"

This would be so much easier if I weren't terrified of mentioning God.

Again, silence.

I break it.

"Why? I mean, do you know? Wait, again?"

"Of course I do." I sigh.

"It is the curse of my tribe to live and die three times before we cease to exist."

I move in to give her a hug.

"So that's what the thricestepper thing is."

I dwell on that for a moment. Three times at life. Three times at death. Probably enough to drive some to insanity.

"Do you know how long you have?"

How could Amelia even touch her? She didn't understand…

Marisol's eyes fell on the boy Sabertooth had killed.
"He died because of me. If Sabertooth hadn't wanted to pay me back…"

"No. It could be any day now. All I know is that my death will be met after "leading my tribe into a glorious battle."

I almost hesitate before speaking.

"There's an obvious way out of this, but I doubt you'd be pleased with it…"

"If it wasn't him, Sabretooth would have killed someone else. That's how he is. You can't blame yourself for Sabretooth being a vicious killing machine."

I try to hold her tightly.

"No. No there isn't." I say looking at him. "Whether it's the New Mutants, my people in Darkforce, or any ragtag group I'd find myself with, I WILL lead a tribe, my tribe, into battle one day and on that day I will die."

"It is a fate I cannot overcome for turning away from battle would make me a coward."

Marisol reached out a hand and closed the dead guy's eyelids…

"Where's… Mystique?"

"I think you misunderstand me. Smugness isn't what it is, but—"

Not important right now.

"— Yes. I get your point. We are who we are."

I sigh lightly. This isn't right. There should be something we can do about this.

"Tell me if you need anything, okay?"

I didn't know, either; just stumbled on by luck. Really got to pay more attention to the solicits.

Anyway, in a nutshell: Marisol had a birthday party, Sabretooth, Sinister, and Greg crashed it.

"Yes, Mystique…left."

There's no two ways about it, and hopefully, it's an unrelated issue.

Marisol pulled herself back on her feet, and walked closer to Rogue.
"What does this mean?" she asked with a begging expression.

[That and Rogue sort of killed Kelly's wife by getting thrown at her really hard]

Rogue frowns, "I wish I knew, Marisol. I don't want to believe it…but I think Mystique is back to her old ways." Rogue looks at her apologetic, "I'm so sorry, Marisol. I should have never let her get close to you. But, she had seemed so different lately, happy even. When she talked about the time she spent with Forge, she almost sounded like a teenager. It was a little gross to be honest. Apparantly, it was just another game to her."

She really wished she could cry…
