New Mutants 106, Part 2 - LA Story
Post by Michael "Chi" Placio on Oct 24, 2006, 9:32am

All right, when we get people checking in, we'll continue mission 6 here. Cannonball has brought the Blackbird down, in stealth mode), to a rooftop near the suspected SHIELD base. They seems to have some kind of communications jammer set up, and the team is unable to get ahold of X-Force. Cannonball asks the team what the next move should be.

Some additional notes, Stryker is still out cold from his rescue of Heatwave (actually, it is because Hav has some personal business to take care of, but whatever works), Heatwave has a throbbing headache, but seems okay for action.

I'm kind of iffy, myself…we lost X-Force for a while, no telling what happened to them. "Maybe we should just check it out first. Like, maybe, send someone in, sneaky-like." I look back to the Blackbird, wishing Strkyer was awake. Not only would he be REALLY good for this sort of thing, it would just be nice to have him around right now…

"Well, I don't know." Okay, it wasn't the best idea, true…didn't have to rub it in. "I just don't think we should rush in, is all. Maybe we should do that thing, you know where some of us makes a lot of noise and the bad guys come running and then the rest of us sneak in while they're busy." What's the word, what's the word…

Re: Mission 6, Part 2 - LA Story
Post by Michael "Chi" Placio on Oct 24, 2006, 9:46am

Sam nods at Roxie, "Good thought, but they probably have psi-scramblers set up. Not that it matters much. Let's face it, most of us aren't too good when it comes to stealth…"

Rogue chuckles at Wreck, "Yeah, we call that the Wolverine approach. Mostly ends up with us getting shot at. You guys with healing factors tend to forget about the rest of us"

Re: Mission 6, Part 2 - LA Story
Post by Michael "Chi" Placio on Oct 24, 2006, 9:47am

Sam looks at Roxie, a little surprised, "A distraction of our own? Hmmm…now we have something…"

Post by Wreck on Oct 24, 2006, 9:52am

"Could always have Reflex draw their attention, wait for them to arrive, speed off, do a complete end-around and head right in with the rest of us."

Wreck smiles half-heartedly.

"I like it better than my other idea, blocking with my face yet again."

Re: Mission 6, Part 2 - LA Story
Post by Michael "Chi" Placio on Oct 24, 2006, 9:54am

Sam and Rogue smile at each other pretty satisfied. Sam nods, "Sounds like a solid plan to me. Though, I don't know if it's a good idea for all of us to rush in. We should keep a team out here for backup."

"Probably. Considering some of us haven't woken up yet."

He throws a glance to Stryker. Then another to Heatwave.

Rogue smiles at Roxie, "Learning battle strategy from cartoons…we have to talk to Xavier about putting that in the cirriculum next year."

"So any thoughts on teams? (as always, whoever is on a team takes charge of the missing members of the team)"

Roster
Rogue
Cannonball
Dialation
Wreck
Madrock
Heatwave (severe headache)
Solidity

Team 1 - Distraction
Reflex

Team 2 - Infiltration

Team 3 - Backup

Re: Mission 6, Part 2 - LA Story
Post by Wreck on Oct 24, 2006, 10:04am

"I don't know. But given what these guys have thrown at us before when we were just minding our own business, we're probably going to need all the firepower we can get if we're now invading their business."

Wreck smiles again.

"Roxy, how good are you at forming really big and nasty things inside of buildings?"

And he throws a glance to Solidity.

"And from what you've said, she's really good at stealth. I'd say keep Rogue out here to babysit Stryker and Lex, send the rest in. Unless there are any objections."

Re: Mission 6, Part 2 - LA Story

"Well, real good, probably." I smile, a small one. Don't want to come off strong, but I've been expirementing with my powers, and I'm a little eager to try it out. "I could make a lot of things. T-Rex, the Hulk…whatever you want."

Re: Mission 6, Part 2 - LA Story
Post by Michael "Chi" Placio on Oct 24, 2006, 11:04am

Sam and Rogue talk it over for a few minutes, and this is their thoughts on the strike team.

The first strike will be made by the females of the group, with Reflex coming back to join up with them. Solidity's powers make her ideal for a stealth mission, and Madrock's power will give them a major weapon if things get ugly fast.

The backup team has the louder members of the team, with Dialation there to allow them to jump right into the action. There is a concern about lack of communication between the two teams.

Team 1 - Distraction
Reflex

Team 2 - Infiltration
Rogue
Madrock
Solidity
Reflex (joining up after he draws off the defenses)

Team 3 - Backup
Cannonball
Dialation
Wreck
Heatwave (severe headache)

"Gerald, you're back!" Looks the worse for wear, but I'm glad he's back on his feet. "Was just thinking about you." I start to go off, but I control myself. Hugs and stuff can come later. "We're going to try and sneak into that SHIELD place with our new friend here. Marisol. She can shapeshift and turn into this really weird lizard thing; scared Boomerang silly. It's awesome."

Marisol felt her pride being strangely hurt.
"I can shapeshift into a lot of things, actually…"

Lizard things? Wacky.

"Uh, okay. Good luck with that. How can I help?"

Looks like my nosebleed was pretty bad this time…I'm trying to clean it up nonchalantly on my shirt, but there's no way no one saw that. At least I wear black, so the blood doesn't show…as much.

I turn to Marisol.

"Shapeshifting? Into lots of things? Cool. I'm…"

I try to act as suave as I can, but that's not easy with a nosebleed and meeting someone when you're unconscious and stuff.

No, maybe suave wouldn't work.

"I'm…uh…"

"Yeah, I know. But the lizard thing was really cool, is all."

Rogue opens her mouth, considering whether to ask Stryker to try scanning the building, she decides against it. "Gerald, you're going to be with the second team." She fills him in on the plan. "Ready, Curt?"

Curt nods, eager for some action. Madrock/Golem helm him out with some energy and away he goes.

Within a few minutes, loud crashing can be heard in the distance. Several men in suits suddenly emerge from the building. They are trying to appear casual, but it is clear to anyone watching they are police or agents or some sort. Them start walking towards the noise, pretending to be talking and joking. Rogue waits a second, before saying, "Let's go!"

Re: Mission 6, Part 2 - LA Story
Post by Marisol "Solidity" Morales on Oct 26, 2006, 11:00am

Marisol's squaked nervously, as her yellow sundress exchanged itself for a black leather catsuit, which seemed a bit more fitting for such an operation.
She was still rather confused about this whole "mission" and even it's reasons, but she proceeded to cautiously follow the lady with the white hair.

I'm going to try to stealthily follow Rogue, and keep scanning tightly around us for potential hostile activities. Not a big or powerful scan, just…anyone close enough to actually jump us. That should be lowkey enough.

Rogue leads the team to the side of the building, "Roxie, can you make us a tunnel? The doors are probably alarmed…"

[Sorry, you guys didn't have to wait for me. <_<; Went to pick up MUA.]

"Sure thing." When I started out, doing this would've taken me all day…if I could've done it all. Now I just do a little focusing, picture the tunnel in my head, and the tunnel just makes itself; almost reflexive. Wide enough for everyone to fit through, coming out on the other side. "There."

Re: Mission 6, Part 2 - LA Story
Post by Michael "Chi" Placio on Oct 26, 2006, 1:23pm

«it's been a slow few days, I am waiting for anyone to do anything »

Rogue leads the team through. The tunnel Roxie made was pretty smooth, and seems to lead right into an empty storage room. Rogue whispers, "All right, now we need to figure out what happened to Cable."

Stryker reaches out with his telepathic powers, just enough to know the next room has no one in it.

Re: Mission 6, Part 2 - LA Story
Post by Amelia "Heaven" Chow on Oct 26, 2006, 1:23pm

Wow, Roxy's gotten a lot better at using her powers. That's awesome.

I'm going to psi-scan the immediate area, a little further than before, deliver the results, then vomit. Hopefully, discretely. Well, probably not discretely. But hopefully not on anyone. And then I'm going to realize I have no chance with the new girl anyway, so I'm going to ignore her.

Re: Mission 6, Part 2 - LA Story
Post by Michael "Chi" Placio on Oct 26, 2006, 1:43pm

Rogue leads the team towards the door, and opens it cautiously. The team finds themselves in a hallway, very exposed. Thankfully, no one seems to be nearby. Rogue is hovering off the ground, trying to decide which way to go. "Left or right?"

Re: Mission 6, Part 2 - LA Story
Post by Amelia "Heaven" Chow on Oct 26, 2006, 1:46pm

Well, there's all sorts of ways to decide this. I produce a coin. "Heads left, tails right, sound good?"

Re: Mission 6, Part 2 - LA Story
Post by Michael "Chi" Placio on Oct 26, 2006, 1:52pm

Rogue shrugs, "As good a way as any…" Heads

Rogue leads the team down the hallway. Rogue suddenly is hefted off the ground, and slammed into the wall. Before anyone can react, Roxie feels a tight grip around her neck. Their attacker seems to be invisible. It speaks, in a soft female voice, "There are more of them up here!"

Re: Mission 6, Part 2 - LA Story
Post by Amelia "Heaven" Chow on Oct 26, 2006, 2:03pm

Oh, it's just invisible people. Are they invisible people that I can telepathically read? Or are they invisible that way too? Because if not…

I'm taking over. I know I can do it. My powers have gotten much better ever since…

Re: Mission 6, Part 2 - LA Story
Post by Roxanne "Madrock" Madison on Oct 26, 2006, 2:09pm

I feel this grip on my neck, hear the voice, but I look out the corner of my eye and don't see a thing. Invisible…great. I think about using my powers, but if I can't find a target I stand a good chance of hitting someone I don't want to be hitting.

"Get off!" I struggle around, trying to break the grip.

Re: Mission 6, Part 2 - LA Story
Post by Marisol "Solidity" Morales on Oct 26, 2006, 2:21pm

Marisol really wasn't much of a warrior… Although she understanding of the fact would never enter her darkest dream, she was more of a killer.
But at the moment, she was afraid. Not fearful of death, or her team-mates' death, but of failure. Doing something wrong or ruining something… The possibility seemed ever so present at the moment, and she couldn't stand it.

She produced blades from her hands. Without thinking, she directed it at the girl's waist towards where a humanoid attacker would have been if they had been visible. Her other appandage, she stretched towards the empty corridor before them, trying to pick off any approaching attackers.

Re: Mission 6, Part 2 - LA Story
Post by Michael "Chi" Placio on Oct 26, 2006, 2:31pm

Stryker tries to read her, but there seems to be some kind of interference around her. This seems to be the only spot of interference around.

The assailant's grip is too strong for Roxie to break out of. Marisol's blades clank against something heavy and metallic…armor perhaps? Her probing other hand does not come across anyone else.

Re: Mission 6, Part 2 - LA Story
Post by Amelia "Heaven" Chow on Oct 26, 2006, 2:32pm

Alright, plan B. I'm reasonably strong and such, and it's obvious that "whatever" has a grip on Roxy's throat. I try to help her by moving towards where I expect the attacker to be <woo, I'm really smart too!>.

Re: Mission 6, Part 2 - LA Story
Post by Marisol "Solidity" Morales on Oct 26, 2006, 2:35pm

«But I'm smarter.»

Marisol sprang towards Roxanne, and the spot she had just hit… Doing the first thing that came to mind, she reached for it and attached herself to it, trying to encase it somehow.

Re: Mission 6, Part 2 - LA Story
Post by Michael "Chi" Placio on Oct 26, 2006, 2:47pm

Stryker and Marisol are both attacking the armored assailant, but seem to find no openings. Marisol starts to wrap around the armor, and the grip tightens on Roxie's neck. Her face is turning red as her air is cut off.

*4 > 2*

Anyway, getting Madrock free is a priority, so I'm going to try to override her semiconscious control over her neck muscles, which automatically flex outward to avoid crushing the windpipe, but JUST FOR AN INSTANT. I will coordinate this with physically pushing her away.

Re: Mission 6, Part 2 - LA Story
Post by Roxanne "Madrock" Madison on Oct 26, 2006, 2:55pm

Oddly enough, the biggest thought on my mind right now is what color my face is turning. I always assumed it would turn red, but, you know…gray skin and all. Maybe it's purple. Or blue. Or pink.

Wow, I must be really out of it right now.

Re: Mission 6, Part 2 - LA Story
Post by Michael "Chi" Placio on Oct 26, 2006, 3:05pm

Roxie slips out of the assailant's grip, but she has some nasty looking bruises on her neck.

Marisol feels a grip on her back, probably the assailant's other hand, Marisol's body seems flexible enough not to get peeled off, but the assailant's tight grip is causing her some pain.

«It is? That's pretty odd, considering she's supposed to be able to catch bullets fired at her and some-such…»

Re: Mission 6, Part 2 - LA Story

The armor seems impossible smooth. Marisol is getting pretty annoyed. Nothing could be this airtight.

Post by Amelia "Heaven" Chow on Oct 26, 2006, 3:13pm

Uh, I guess at this point I let the new chick take over, because whatever she's doing, I'm pretty sure she's okay and going to be able to deal with this. I make sure Roxy's doing alright. I know some really basic first aid just by dint of stupid Danger Room bs.

Re: Mission 6, Part 2 - LA Story
Post by Michael "Chi" Placio on Oct 26, 2006, 3:16pm

Rogue watched the shape that Marisol seems to be covering, and drills a pretty nasty superpowered punch into the head area. A sickening thud can be heard. The armor appears suddenly, it's camoflage field damaged by the blow. Gerald can see electrical energy dancing around the finger tips buried into Marisol's back (vulnerable to energy).

Re: Mission 6, Part 2 - LA Story
Post by Michael "Chi" Placio on Oct 26, 2006, 3:17pm

Rogue goes for a second blow, and the armor actually seems to flow right off of the assailant, like a metallic waterfall, leaving the attacker dazed and holding her hands up, scared now that she is vulnerable. She is wearing a SHIELD uniform. The armor absorbs right into the wall

Re: Mission 6, Part 2 - LA Story
Post by Marisol "Solidity" Morales on Oct 26, 2006, 3:19pm

Marisol let out a mild shriek. There was a horrible, electrical pain in her back. Her form more or less reverted to her usual choice and she was violently loosened from the armor. She slunk to her knees on the floor with a dizziness, sparks dancing before her eyes.

Alright, well, they hurt Roxy reasonably bad, and I have a bad attitude already. Maybe the wrong attitude.

*Listen up, S.H.I.E.L.D. bimbo.*

I turn towards her, communicating with my mind.

*Pretty easy beating people up when you've got your super armor, isn't it?*

I hate this woman right now, and I have an urge to do this.

*You know what? I've got nothing to lose right now, and I hate you picking on my friends, even my new friends.*

I take two steps towards her. She's not going to move.

*You're going to tell us everything you know, and you're going to be grateful I let you live.*

And I guess it's time to speak out loud.

"There's something everyone should know. My telepathic powers have greatly increased…because I have contracted the Legacy Virus. I didn't want to tell you yet, but what happens next will be weird if you don't know that."

The woman's nose starts to bleed, she collapses on the floor, a flood of yellow energy coming from her eyes, ears, nose, and mouth.

The woman's head pretty much dissolves in a final burst of yellowish energy. Madrock immediately recognizes it as the same energy that came out of the Demon Bear robot. But, this woman was definitely alive. Blood and ichor stain the floor in a spreading pool. Rogue turns Madrock's head around, and says, "What the hell is going on in this place?"

Reflex takes this moment to arrive. Before he can say a word, Rogue tells him, "Get the others, NOW!"

Dil's team disappears. Reflex returns to Rogue and company, "They are on their way…I hope." About a minute or so later, Dialation and company reappear inside the base with the others.

Rogue fills them in on what happened. When Sam hears about the metal flowing like water, and reconnecting to the wall, he turns pale, "That…it can't be! That sounds like Warlock…"

Rogue tilts her head to the side, "But, Warlock's dead….right?"

And he can drain life force, and "infect" people and machines with a techno-organic virus. Once that happens, you are pretty much screwed. Wreck's powers are having a very powerful effect. The creature shares a hive mind, and as he is willing the small piece in his hand to fall to pieces, the entire complex around his is shuttering in response. Golem starts to dissolve, causing Roxie intense pain even though she doesn't have very good control over this version.

Once Marisol removes Wreck's hand, the shaking and rumbling come to a halt. Unfortunately, this leaves the metal very, very pissed off. Creatures start emerging from the ground looking to surround the New Mutants. "We are the Phalanx. Surrender to us, Mutants or be destroyed."

If there's one thing I know about the Astral Plane (the psychic part), it's that things that can be affected psychically but aren't really psychic are easy pickings up here. It's good. Whoever I drag in will get what I can give them, lending power. I *know* Xavier's done this before. I *know* it isn't a bad idea. Stryker and Wreck find themselves on the Astral Plane. The representation of the Phalanx is very strange. It almost resembles a bee hive, with several minds hovering around a central core. Most of those on the furtherest reaches of the swarm are screaming in terror. They are not here voluntarily.

The closer you get to the center, the calmer the minds seem to be.

Shit. Gotta think, gotta think, gotta think, gotta…gotta idea!

"Everybody step back away from that thing, I've figured out a way to hurt it!"

The plan was simple, Dillan thought as he ducked and rolled away from some sort of tentacle shot at him by the Phalanx and thrusted his hands onto the ground. It was a slight variation of the plan he had concocted to defeat the demon bear, but instead of just removing the ground under it, letting it fall into a put, and reappear letting the ground fall over it, there a slight difference.

This time, he was going to make a jump with the ground in such a way that parts left behind almost form spikes, which'll damage the creature as it falls on them, THEN he'd reappear and let the rest of the ground fall on top of it. Plan only had one flaw however:

He was assuming there was nothing underneath them but Earth and concrete, if the building had a lower level he'd be screwed.

Here goes nothing.

Being the Astral Plane, Wreck's attempts to use his disintegration on the Phalanx's mental core does not work. He needs some kind of astral weapon to do some damage here.

Reflex manages to keep moving and ripping apart the Phalanx, but it just keeps reforming. It does seem to have problems adapting to his attacks, but he doesn't seem to be doing any lasting damage.

Yeah, there is at least one floor below the team. Dialation's attempt manages to rip up a section of the floor, sending a big chunk of Phalanx and the New Mutants tumbling down to the floor below, which finds Cable and X-Force in a circle holding off more SHIELD soldiers wearing what appear to be suits made of Phalanx, "Took you guys long enough!" Marisol was, once again, conflicted. Part of her was excited about once again facing something she could actually affect, but then again… she didn't want to get shocked again. With some apprehension, she decided that she should still fight.

She expanded her size to her fickle limits and kicked one of the soldiers in the face.

Cable's body collapses suddenly as Stryker pulls him into tha Astral Plane. Cable looks much young in the Astral Plane. Not as grizzled by life, and no metal arm and eye. In the Astral Plane, he is still a young warrior in the prime of his life. Cable looks at Stryker and Wreck, and says, "Hopefully, you didn't just get my body killed, kid."

Marisol's attack drives the nearest attacker backwards. Rictor sends a shudder through the ground toppling over a few more, "Hey, I didn't see you on the jet!" he says to Marisol, before dodging to the side to avoid a slash from another Phalanx.

Cable shakes his head, "It was the right call…never would have thought of it myself, to be honest. I tend to shoot first and ask questions…well, eventually." Cable looks over the structure of the Phalanx hive mind, "It's actually kind of cute from this angle. Now, let's get to ripping it to shreds."

Cable spreads his arms over the ground, and an arsenel of psychic weapons appears. Really nasty looking blades and guns. Cable points to the outside ring, "Those are the SHIELD soldiers we've been facing out there. They haven't been integrated fully. They don't have much time, but if we destroy the core, they should be fine."

The Phalanx armor doesn't seem dented, but the SHIELD soldier underneath's bone aren't that lucky. Marisol hears some sick crunching sounds, and the armor flows off those soldiers, trying to wrap around her.

The Phalanx has adapted to Lex's heat-up attack after his earlier attempt.

The soldier is alive, but his eyes are red-rimmed and wild. He whispers, "I can still feel it in my head…help me…"

Lex's attack is definitely holding off the soldiers, but the Phalanx just keeps reforming whereever it is damaged. Energy time bombs, rocket blasts, earth quakes, super strength, etc. just seem to be creating a stalemate here.

Cable, Wreck, and Stryker are all in position. Cable raises his weapon and nods.

Re: Mission 6, Part 2 - LA Story
Post by Wreck on Oct 30, 2006, 11:30am

Wreck flies into the air, flips and does a dive bomb towards the core, taking a huge swipe at it with the scythe.

Two thoughts flit through his mind. The first being that when this is over, he needs some sort of melee weapon aside from his taser. The second being, that he's enjoying this way too much.

The coordinated attack rips apart the core's shield, but the resulting explosion knocks the three of them for a loop. The core itself is intact, but it's shielding is completely gone.

It's so tempting to bring in more back-up, but I think that would be a bad idea, and Cable was the one I thought was best suited to this anyway.

I take a moment to reorient myself. Since I'm the link, me pushing too hard could be bad for the other two…especially Wreck. If something bad happens, it's possible he could be lost forever or something…

Don't think about that. Just try to work on psychic armor. None of that crappy medieval stuff. More like…Halo.

Re: Mission 6, Part 2 - LA Story
Post by Michael "Chi" Placio on Oct 30, 2006, 11:50am

Wreck, Stryker, and Cable's psi-forms are pretty weakened by that last attack. The pistols and armor actual just dissolve.

A energy being emerges from the Phalanx core and watches them curious, "You cannot win here. Even if you do manage to defeat our colony, there are many more ready to take our place. You do not want us as your enemy, mutants."

The Phalanx makes a tutting sound, "WE did not send that Bear after you. SHIELD found some of our technology, and created that "primitive thing." He actually seems disgusted by saying that. "When we saw SHIELD was continuing their experiments with the Magus's son, we had no choice but to take over their pathetic facility and show them what the Phalanx is really capable of."

Cable closes his eyes, "You are saying that SHIELD stole Warlock's body?"

The Phalanx nods his head, "Yes, that is exactly what I am saying."

Wreck stares at the Phalanx.

"Where are they keeping this Warlock? It would seem we aren't entirely on different pages here. Since you seem to have gotten SHIELD out of our hair, we could take him back and be on our way."

Meanwhile, he tries to broadcast a thought out to Cable and Stryker, not knowing how well it would work at all.

One of the soldiers turns to the New Mutants and X-Force and starts to speak, "Mutants. Your colleagues who have managed to find their way into our hive mind, have agreed to end hostilities. You will leave this facility immediately. It seems that we have a common enemy in SHIELD, and this is all just a simple misunderstanding."

Boomer smirks, "Bull!" She starts charging up a time bomb. The Phalanx shakes his head, and speaks in Warlock's voice "Tabitha…" She almost drops the bomb, causing the rest of the team to take a very large step backwards, "Warlock???" The Phalanx nods, "Yes. He is part of the network. We rescued him from SHIELD."

Cannonball, Rictor, and Boomer are all looking at each other, real uncertain on how to progress. Sam says, "This facility…it had a lot of innocent scientists…"

Phalanx chuckles, "Innocent? Ha! SHIELD takes Warlock right from his grave, and their hybrid creation almost kills the lot of you, and you still call them innocent!"

Wreck, Cable and Stryker all attack at once, ripping right through the core. The Phalanx hive mind screams in protest, but their attack is timed perfectly.

All around the New Mutants and X-Force, the armor starts dissolving right off the SHIELD soldiers. The soldier who was looking at Boomer looks terrified, "Self-friend??? What is happening?" It grows pissed suddenly, "You may have destroyed this unit, but we will be taking your whole world now. Watch the skys, mutants…watch the skys." With that, it's consciousness fades away, leaving some broken down metallic parts behind.

Wreck, Cable, and Stryker wake up

Boomer looks at Cable coldly, "They would have done no less to us. SHIELD already took Warlock…"

«Isn't it funny that Part I: SHIELD Laws took place on the streets of LA, and Part II: LA Story took place in the SHIELD base?

Anyway, who's up for going to a beach? There's less of a chance of meeting supervillains there… I think.»

<That's just begging for an appearance by the most fearsome villain ever: Tiger Shark!>

«It could be a hard rockin' Tiger Shark/Akuma team-up.»

So, LA. I've never been here, but I'm up for Graumann's Chinese Theatre/whatever the whole stars in the pavement thing is called. Not a big fan of beaches…not sure why. So if Madrock wants to head that way, I'll go along. I think I'm feeling a lot better now that I'm not having to do crazy psychic things.

"So, let's see…" I've got all these places in my head to visit; the stars, the beach, Disneyworld or Disneyland or whichever one is around here. I've just got no idea how to get to any of them. "Hey, Marisol? Could you maybe be our guide, show us the sights a little?"

Re: Mission 6, Part 2 - LA Story
Post by Marisol "Solidity" Morales on Oct 30, 2006, 4:44pm

Marisol almost jumped at the proposal. She settled for just blushing.
"I- I don't know," she quietly said, "I can try, but… I don't think I'd make a very good guide…"

«That's because _I_ don't know anything about sights in LA.»

"I think you'd make a perfect guide."

Lex turns to look at her.

"You lead the way, we'll eb right behind you."

Looking at your ass the whole way….

«Uh, basically, none of us are really experts on LA either, additionally, it's well-known that cities in comics don't always appear as they do in the real world, or whatnot. I doubt anyone here is going to be "OMG n00b…Sunset Boulevard is actually SEVEN miles long" (random number, there…I have no idea how long it actually is and don't care).»

«Sunset Boulevard is 22 miles long, as I checked on wikipedia ten minutes ago… I'm like Batman, I plan ahead.

Marisol gleamed something in Heatwave's voice.
"I don't think I'd trust you behind me," she said silently.
After all, just a few hours ago, he'd attacked his own team-mates. Possessed… right…

«Heh, I wrote "post" instead of "voice".»

Re: Mission 6, Part 2 - LA Story

Gah, it's starting to get depressing again. "Don't worry about it. You came with us and helped out even though all that weird stuff happened with Lex; that counts for trust, right?" I stretch out, yawning for some reason. All the times I've been knocked out today, I shouldn't be needing much sleep. "Let's just get something to eat and call it a day, okay? You can tell us about yourself, and we can go out tomorrow, see the sights."

Re: Mission 6, Part 2 - LA Story
Post by Marisol "Solidity" Morales on Oct 30, 2006, 5:50pm

"But… where will we sleep?" asked Marisol, "Are we going to find a hotel, or something?"

Re: Mission 6, Part 2 - LA Story
Post by Roxanne "Madrock" Madison on Oct 30, 2006, 5:53pm

"Oh, crap, good point." I know I don't have any money, I'm betting the guys don't either, and I'm sure that Professor X isn't going to send us any. Even though I'm pretty sure he's a billionaire. "The jet, maybe."

Re: Mission 6, Part 2 - LA Story
Post by Wreck on Oct 30, 2006, 5:59pm

"I'm sure I could find a source of money in a hurr….."

Abruptly, Wreck pauses in mid-sentence. A glimpse of a white skull darts through his head, and a freefall onto a rain soaked street.

"……actually, on second thought, the jet sounds fine."

Re: Mission 6, Part 2 - LA Story
Post by Marisol "Solidity" Morales on Oct 30, 2006, 5:59pm

"Actually, I have a pretty large inheritance… Definitely enough to get rooms for us in a decent hotel."

Marisol stared at Lex for a second, then turned to Gerald.
"Wait, you would just brainwash someone for your own gain?"

Re: Mission 6, Part 2 - LA Story
Post by Amelia "Heaven" Chow on Oct 31, 2006, 10:40am

Well, that's the trick, isn't it? I talk tough about it, but I'm not sure if I really could, if push came to shove. I've been taught not to by the Professor, and I understand why, but there's just this certain appeal to it…and really, how bad is getting a room at a hotel? It's not like I'm forcing someone to have sex with me or anything.

"Well, it's not really brainwashing. It's more of just…a little push or something. I've never actually done it, to be honest."

She looked at Rogue and Cannonball.

Rogue and Sam watch the back and forth with some amusement. Finally Sam relents, "You guys do remember that we live in a mansion right. As stupid as that movie was, X-Men are all issued 'Bat-Credit Cards.' Get in street clothes, and we'll find a hotel. No mindwiping or bankrupting our newest members needed."

Re: Mission 6, Part 2 - LA Story
Post by Amelia "Heaven" Chow on Oct 31, 2006, 11:27am

"Uh…I am in street clothes."

I never saw the need for a costume, and I see the need even less now.

"So, then, you control the purse-strings, Mr. Guthrie? Because I'd imagine that we don't really have cards issued yet. Also…what was the thing that Nightcrawler used to use for going out in public? Do we have one of those?"

I move my eyes towards Roxy dramatically, hoping Sam gets the hint.

«My dear man, Batman and Robin is still four years away from being made! Hey, maybe we can use that chance to alter time and assassinate Joel Schumacher?»

Marisol realized she was still in her "infiltration-wear". She proceeded to trangmogrify the black leather uniform back into her usual sleeveless yellow sundress.

Sam smiles at Gerald, "I said the cards were for X-Men…when you guys graduate, then we will talk."

Rogue nods down in front of Roxie, "Do you want a holographic disguise, Roxie? It is your choice."

"Nah, I don't like those holograms and stuff. I mean, I get the reason, but I just don't like pretending to be something I'm not. Just too weird."

I shrug, pulling up the hood on my coat and stringing it tight. I'm wearing pants, so that's covered, and my hands…well, nobody really looks at people's hands, do they? "I'll be fine."
