[The New Mutants have gone to a…museum?!

Citing that they MUST seem to be a normal at this time, to quell any arguements that now is not the time, Jean arranged for a field trip to a museum that she knows is mutant friendly, if discreet about that reputation]

[As the New Mutants arrive, a family of three just walked in, and a scowling group of four line up behind the NM to get in. Rogue ushers her wards inside]

This was one of those rare situations where Zephyr did feel a little self-conscious about his appearance. Or at least, he was happy to have brought a cap with him.
"Hey," he said to a passing child with a friendly smile and a half-hearted wave, just to see what would happen.

Re: New Mutants #132 - A Cinderella Story

Rogue looks around, "All right everyone, time to get your history on." Rogue is wearing sunglasses, and her hair is tied back in a ponytail.

[The child stares at Zephyr with wide, wide eyes, before getting told that staring is rude, and almost dragged away by her father. The mother looks at Zephyr, and gives an embaressed shrug]

I make my way to Zephyr's side, leaning against him a little. Just a bit closer…there. "Um…Zephyr, I was going to go by the human anatomy exhibit first…maybe later, though. What about you?"

[There is an intersection ahead, with exits straight, left, and right.

To the left, it is labelled 'Gift Shop'
Ahead, it is labelled 'Paintings and Sculptures']

Pester wonders to himself what Marisol and Zephyr do behind closed doors.

A vicious, manhating shapeshifter, and the son of Apocalypse. I wonder if she strings him up by his nipples and makes him sing showtunes…

Lex looks confused.

Rogue waves her hand absently in Lex's direction, "Nothing." She walks further down the exhibit hall.

Zephyr followed, hoping everyone would come along without bickering.

Lex follows, absently pushing Pester into a wall.

Re: New Mutants #132 - A Cinderella Story
Post by Starheart on Aug 17, 2007, 12:12pm

Four things happen quite quickly.

First, the Grumbling Group gives a group cheer and laugh.

Second, the Grumbler that went past the NM digs into his bag, and takes out a heavy glass ashtray, in the shape of Captain America's shield, and slings it forward. Just like the real Cap, his aim is true.

Before anyone can even react, the third thing happens; the man holding his daughter up to see the suit is struck straight in the middle of his forehead. He drops backwards, crosseyed, looking up at where he was hit, stunned, or worse. The NM may note his eyes changed colors from brown to black over the seconds. The girl is dropped from his hands, falling to the floor with a thud.

Fourth, his wife screams. The Group cheers. One says 'For America!'

Re: New Mutants #132 - A Cinderella Story
Post by Pester on Aug 17, 2007, 12:13pm

Pester sighs as he hits the wall. It's hard not to feel defeated when your own teammates want to feed you to the wolves. He continues following along, staying to the rear of the group.

I rush over to the fallen family, checking to make sure the man and girl are alright.

Re: New Mutants #132 - A Cinderella Story
Post by Marisol Morales on Aug 17, 2007, 12:16pm

That…was confusing.

But I move, anyway, heading straight for the girl that fell and the guy that appeared to be her father. I try to drag them away from whatever's happening.

Re: New Mutants #132 - A Cinderella Story
Post by Last Hero on Aug 17, 2007, 12:17pm

Rogue glances towards Marisol helping Nephy, and nods her approval. She turns to the group, "So, who are you guys supposed to be…the Teen Titans?"

Re: New Mutants #132 - A Cinderella Story
Post by Starheart on Aug 17, 2007, 12:18pm

The guy is about to give a sneering reply to Lex, when Zephyr blows him down, knocking the wind out of him. He hits one of the display cases, and the ant-man helmet falls down, breaking to show its a spraypainted motorbike helmet, with some wooden dowels glued on.

Nephy and Marisol find the kid just in a bit of shock, the father is in pretty bad shape. His forehead is already one big bruise, and he's kind of twitching.

Post by Zephyr on Aug 17, 2007, 12:21pm

Zephyr breathed in sharply.
"Uh, sorry. I'll pay it out of my own pocket, okay? And be more careful."

He moved closer to the guy he'd just knocked down, and found his pants to be on fire. Probably Lex, he decided, and quizzically wondered what possible use it would be in a fight. He blew out the fire and loomed over the guy as threateningly as he managed.

"Hey, you! What the hell was this about?"

Marisol finds her path out blocked by, funnily enough, a wall of flames. Is the building on fire?!

The little girl is standing now, glaring angrily at the group of men backed into a corner by the NM.

Re: New Mutants #132 - A Cinderella Story
Post by Starheart on Aug 17, 2007, 12:42pm

The little girl stomps her foot, like she's having a tantrum.

Except, normally, when kids have tantrums, an arch of fire doesn't appear, and lance towards people. In this case, the Grumblers are right in the path of this sudden wall of fire.

The girl glares at Nephy, and sparks fly in anger. Wait, not anger…those are literal sparks flying towards Nephy's face!

The grumblers have scattered, Pester's fire extinguisher manages to put out the flames somewhat, but one still gets caught in the wave of toasty pain. He screams and runs around.

Also, the mother has sunk into a corner, quite visibly terrified, though more of the anti-mutant group, and the NM than her little pyro.

With all this fire going around, I think it's best to keep a low profile.

I turn into a painting of the Mona Lisa and stick to the wall.

The sparks burn a bit, but she's obviously not really trying to hurt me, she's just mad. I put my hands on her shoulders.

"Please stop, you're going to hurt my friends. And we can't get your father away until you do. Please, for him?"

Nephy feels the heat under her hands. The girl looks confused then all but shouts "NO! THEY HURT HIM!" and another wave of fire is unleashed. She doesn't seem to care, or lacks the control to avoid people who aren't her targets, and the wave of flame is going to have to go through the NM to get the Bad Men.

Zephyr didn't like the idea, but it had to be done. He pulled away the air from around the little girl as well. He just needed to keep it up long enough for her to pass out. He just hoped she wouldn't go into a panic and make everything worse. Meanwhile, he tried to do anything in his power to snuff out the flames around them.

I hate hitting a child, but…I can't let her hurt my friends and innocent people. This could get really serious.

I morph out of the painting and land behind the girl, then form my hand into a club to knock her in the head. "Sorry."

And, the Child Beaters win the day. With Nephy slowing her blood, Zephyr taking her air, and Marisol pummeling the defensless little girl in the back of the head, she's quite thoroughly down and out.

The room is a scorched mess now though.
