Keeping Score
Post by Last Hero on Jan 4, 2007, 1:12pm

Just a little reference for you to keep track of things.

The battle so far:

Star, after a reluctant match with Pester, emerges victorious. He does the best he can, and survives for quite a while considering the difference in power, but, ultimately, holding back for Pester proves worse than holding back for Star.

Heatwave and Gammadrop brutally engage in mortal combat. Heatwave does his absolute best, egged on as a increasingly intelligent Gammadrop taunts him and threatens to kill Jubilee and his unborn child. He tries several tactics, but it seems some of Gammadrop's old powers are resurfacing. In the end it's too much, and a broken Heatwave falls. Fortunately, Gammadrop stops short of killing him and looks for new ways to entertain herself…

Rogue is defeated by Ixnay, who simply nullifies her powers when she takes flight. She'll be feeling it for a while, but it's not likely to be serious.

Zephyr, after ignoring Prime's amorous advances, manages to escape her grasp. The two engage in a dogfight, and though Zephyr manages to keep her at a distance, he's not really doing any damage. As expected given their personalities, it eventually boils down to a shouting match, and Prime seems to emotional when Zephyr belittles her childhood, though it's hard to say whether she was genuinely peeved or just trying to trick. Eventually Zephyr manages to suck the air out of her lungs and score a knockout by kissing her, though it's a hasty tactic that's not likely to work if they were to ever fight again…

Marisol finds herself pitted against Wildfire, and opponent who seems tailor-made to counteract her abilities. She fights admirably, even comes with a successful tactic by burrowing underground to avoid flames, but when Wildfire becomes enraged all that goes out the window. Eventually Marisol lures now borderline-insane Wildfire to a nearby beach, and manages to get her wet in the process. The water gives Wildfire an extreme psychic shock, sense she was mentally linked to her flame, and it stuns her long enough for Marisol to score a win.

Reflex managed to take down Tangle. Tangle tried to bluff Reflex into thinking he was much more powerful than he really was, but Reflex wasn't having any of it. Tangle managed to trip Reflex up with his tendrils, but Reflex quickly turned the tables on him, and eventually ended up with a win that was a lot harder to earn than he'd have expected.

Impressive for Marisol to have won over Wildfire. Didn't think that'd be possible.

Heh - Thor vs Storm K.O. for Prime.

I was wondering if anyone would remember Thor doing that…

Re: Keeping Score

Well, there'll probably be someone other than us two who remember it too, considering who's on this board.

True.

I remember it now that you guys mention it >_>, but that little move came to my mind in physics class. Apparently the air in our bodies (more so, the outward force it exerts) prevents the air pressure all around us from crushing us. Would sucking the air out of someone's lungs leave them susceptible to being smooshed?

Also: I feel bad for the way I just kept beating on Heatwave, I totally took it too far.

«For the record, I think Pester could have pulled out a win if he had used all of his Torment powers. But to do that, he'd have put Star through much more trauma than he was willing to do.»

<_<

Blah blah blah they were high up so there was less air pressure blah blah blah Prime's body is stronger than a normal human blah blah blah Scarlet Witch and Franklin Richards had a headache.

«Yeah, what you said. That would be way too mean to do to Kelly . To be fair, the same could be said of Kelly, though the only time she's likely to go all out is for someone's life to be on the line.»

«I've kept up the best I can, but Reflex probably will beat Tangle in the end. And I haven't seen Voltage/Cricket, but I sent a pretty decent battle plan to lasty about that one…so I should be 2 Point for New Mutants»

«Go New Mutants!

Now I really wish Charge was there. He'd teach Gammadrop a lesson or two… Actually, since he's not been in the Danger Room, he could annihilate a large part of the Hellions. Wow, damn me.»

<Looks like Erebus/Wreck is over. Erebus ran off into the Darkforce, Wreck got bisected, but nothing he won't recover from

Blind/Nevermore is probably over. Unless Nevermore shows up and wants to continue, but he was really boned in that match from the getgo >

What if he doesn't show up? What's gonna happen to his two matches?

Re: Keeping Score

I wonder what Voltage, Naga, and Apath are up to.

Re: Keeping Score
Post by Kelly Alecia "Edenstar" Lisa on Jan 5, 2007, 2:56pm

Nothing for me. I'm waiting for something to happen, or Nevermore to show up.

Re: Keeping Score

Wreck and Erebus have at; pitting a man who can't be killed against a man who can't be killed…classic problem. Erebus tries a number of tricks, even dragging a few innocent bystanders into the mix and using them as pawns and dragging Wreck into the Darkforce dimension, but ultimately it's all futile - Erebus can't score a solid win, and Wreck's entropy field is only causing him undue pain. He gives, Wreck wins

Phase and Nadia go at it, and Phase starts the match with a critical error - underestimating Nadia. The battle quickly heats up, putting Phase's ability to alter the environment against Nadia's ability to become the environment. It ends when Nadia turns herself into adamantium and comes down on him hard from above, breaking clean through his defenses.

Chi manages to defeat Cricket off panel, using his shields in a rather ingenious way - holding the big bug in place, making him vulnerable to just about any attack.

Blind defeats, and probably tortures, Nevermore; seeing as Nevermore's powers rely on eye contact, it's not even a contest.

Naga is beaten by Sephula off panel; while her feminine whiles made things interesting, Sephula's body control ultimately proved superior.

Voltage defeats Masstress off-panel. While her mass altering powers give Sid a hassle, she doesn't have any real defense against electricity. All it takes is a strong bolt. Not one of Shaw's better matches, there.

I do believe that covers everyone so far.

Hellions - 3
New Mutants - 7

New Mutants win by a landslide!

Oh man…curse those meddling New Mutants.

I beat Rogue in one post. Seriously. The rest of you Hellions should be ashamed of yourselves.

I beat Nevermore in one post. Nyah

I beat Naga without posting. I win.
