Hellions: Interlude II - Justice, Like Lightning!
Post by The G-Man on Jun 28, 2007, 6:32pm

The Hellions are being held under guard, when they must go into action to save themselves and others! Will the Hellions team up with their captors to save a town? Will they be able to control themselves long enough to subdue their enemies? Well? Don't stand there and look at me, I asked you a question!

Run by: An anonymous guest GM, at the regular GM's request. So do me a favor and don't bust my balls, and don't guess who it is.

It will be starting at around 9 PM, EST.

Re: Hellions: Interlude II - Justice, Like Lightni
Post by The G-Man on Jun 28, 2007, 7:09pm

I'm going to run it an hour earlier to correspond with the NMW mission. This should be pretty quick and clean, and end before 11.

Check in now if you'll be around at 9. Use an in character response.

Alright guys, here's where we are. The Thunderbolts came to where the Hellions were staying with the interest of arresting you. Hoping to get a fair trial, you guys said "Sure, we'll come along peacefully." Songbird is escorting you outside, while the rest of the T-bolts stand around thirsting for your blood… But they do it non violently.

"So, any last questions before we get this show on the road?" Songbird asks as she gestures toward their armored van.

Songbird sighs. "Not that it's much of your business, but I'm doing this to stay out of the same place you're going. As the string said, we look familiar, and that's because we've been on television more often than some. Ever hear of the Thunderbolts before?"

The enormous, 7 foot tall woman grins as she holds up a hundred pounds of chains with one hand. She was hoping for a fight, but putting you all in heavily reinforced bindings will be just as much fun, even if she knows they won't hold the majority of the team. It's the thought that counts.

"That's a label," Songbird says sternly to Darya. "Labels are bad, they take away from a person and condense them into a thing. We are not things."

Songbird turns to Wreck. "Maybe, maybe not. It was either this or go straight up the river alongside you, so we took our chances."

"Noted," she says to Wreck. "For the record, you seem like a decent bunch of kids. Hope it works out for you better than for some of the other saps I've had to deal with."

The Hellions are packed into the back of the Thunderbolt's van.

"Alright Techno," Songbird says into her walkie talkie. "Let's get out of here."

A voice comes from high above both the Hellions and Thunderbolts. "Sorry Songbird, but there are a lot of rich men who want you dead." The voice is coming from this machine, over remote control.

"Bring in the Hellions for great public relations, bring in the rogue Thunderbolts and that's an easy get out of jail free card. Not to mention the cash."

"Fantastic. Third double cross in a week. Just my luck…" Songbird shakes her head.

The Sentinel fires a beam straight into Bruce Banner as he's transforming into Hulk. He goes flying through the hotel, causing structural damage to the place.

As Bruce Banner transforms into the Hulk, he holds the hotel up so the civilian inhabitans can escape. The Sentinel takes aim at him… "Guys, go to work!" Hulk shouts, as the Thunderbolts charge the Sentinel.

A tree with a blue aura flies up behind the Sentinel and swings, baseball bat style, at the back of its head as Shaman comes down slowly from the clouds. His TK arcing around him as he silently gestures with his weapon of choice.

Post by The G-Man on Jun 28, 2007, 8:16pm

Songbird shouts, "Killer! We need a hand!"

Mankiller tears the doors off the van so the Hellions can get out.

After she shoots, the Sentinel's head turns toward Darya and takes .02 seconds to do a threat assessment. It turns it's hand in the direction of her and fires a blast at her.

The night is filled with a deafening crack, as the tree shatters against the Sentinel's head. It leaves a sizable dent and makes the giant robot stumble, crushing a nearby house. The darkened windows suggest that it was uninhabited for the moment, but that doesn't stop Hulk from grimacing at the wanton property destruction.

"You might want to duck."

A second gesture, this one with more force put behind it as sweat forms on the young mutants forehead, as he attempts to use his telekinesis to rip open the Sentinels head from the newly created dent.

Re: Hellions: Interlude II - Justice, Like Lightni
Post by The G-Man on Jun 28, 2007, 8:22pm

The Sentinel's blast completely annihilates the van, sending Darya soaring away in the explosion. She's not too badly hurt, but she'll remember the hit tomorrow.

The head dissolves away surprisingly easily, but that doesn't seem to particularly inhibit the Sentinel's behavior…

Shaman picks up a stray thought from the man controlling it. "The idiots think I would come here unprepared…" but after that it fades out just as quickly as it came into his mind.

Re: Hellions: Interlude II - Justice, Like Lightni

"I can see the headlines already. Evil mutant terrorists attack innocent Sentinel, cause property damage! Film at eleven."

"Can we just kill this thing already and get on with being railroaded?"

"Alright. That really really hurt."

She pushes herself up and runs towards the sentinel. When she gets close, she will try to use her unwounded arms to swing her way up the Sentinel, spiderman style, until she gets to the top. When she gets the head hole, she start shooting down it.

An electrified tendril grabs Kee'an off the ground and lifts him up to chest level. If he were to look at the Sentinel's chest, he would notice what looks like a lens focusing in on him.

Re: Hellions: Interlude II - Justice, Like Lightni

"GAH!"

Electrisity… Not cool. But… Is that glass?

Ah hell, what the heck?

Swinging my leg, I send my shoe flying at the lens, before it incinerates me.

Re: Hellions: Interlude II - Justice, Like Lightni
Post by Shaman on Jun 28, 2007, 8:31pm

Nothing is all he can think, his attack did nothing. Frustrated, he reaches out with both hands to rip two more trees from the ground, and sends one flying like a giant spear at the center of the Sentinel's chest, while the other is swung baseball style at the back of what would be the left knee.

«It's not easy doing a mission that takes place in the middle of an existing storyline, using characters I'm not intimately familiar with. I expect to make many, many more mistakes than that. The mission will be fairly short in light of that.»

The lens shatters, revealing a camera that's been busted on behalf of Kee'an. On the other end of the camera, a man is very annoyed that his Sentinel is now blind. Shaman's tree goes through the hole Kee'an made, while the other tree brings the Sentinel down to one knee.

The wounded Sentinel fires 5 grenades in the general vicinity of the Hulk, who is trying to hold up the hotel. "Little help!"

Re: Hellions: Interlude II - Justice, Like Lightni
Post by Joshua/Darya/Kara/Marcus on Jun 28, 2007, 8:37pm

Darya stumbles in mid-swing as the Sentinel falls to a knee, grabbing the edge of the hole where the head used to be and hanging on. Kind of hurted, alot, being jarred around. She tries re-orienting herself, move to the top, and firing in the hole.

Re: Hellions: Interlude II - Justice, Like Lightni
Post by Wreck on Jun 28, 2007, 8:38pm

"Um, I could dissolve the hotel, but I'm guessing that's not what you're looking for."

He tries to melt the grenades, in one fell swoop so that there's nothing left to explode.

Re: Hellions: Interlude II - Justice, Like Lightni
Post by Shaman on Jun 28, 2007, 8:42pm

Leaving the grenades to Wreck, Shaman maintains his focus on the Sentinel, reaching out towards it, focusing inside it's chest, and trying to rip it apart from the inside out, straining himself to the brink of exhaustion in the process.

Re: Hellions: Interlude II - Justice, Like Lightni
Post by The G-Man on Jun 28, 2007, 8:44pm

As she fires inside, Darya can hear faint screaming from inside the Sentinel. Sparks and arcs of electricity abound where she shoots, which (Unknown to her) takes out the machine's stabilizers.

One of the grenades blows, which catches the hotel on fire and collapses part of the support structure, blocking the exits. A woman can be heard screaming, "My baby! My baby is in there!"

Kee'An is dropped through the roof of the hotel as the tendril goes slack.

As Shaman pulls, the Sentinel comes apart, revealing a small man sitting there, shellshocked.

"……where in the hotel is the baby?"

Re: Hellions: Interlude II - Justice, Like Lightni
Post by Joshua/Darya/Kara/Marcus on Jun 28, 2007, 8:47pm

"Ah hell!"

Darya jumps off the rapidly, destroyed Sentinel, swinging her string on the first tall object she sees, Atlas. She uses the momentum to swing into the hotel. Hopefully she'll hit the window, like she planned and not the wall or something…

Re: Hellions: Interlude II - Justice, Like Lightni
Post by The G-Man on Jun 28, 2007, 8:52pm

The currently conscious Thunderbolts charge the man in the Sentinel wreckage, who engages his Exo-Electro Armor. He fires stasis fields at the T-bolts, holding them in place.

The woman is in histerics, as she tells Wreck "I'm a terrible mother!!! Save my baby!!!"

Kee'an can hear a girl coughing from down the hallway to his left. It's the third door, next to the one with a silk tie hung over the doorknob.

Darya smacks into the window, shattering it. She lands in a room that is rapidly catching fire, the bed next to her bursting into flames. The flames threaten to spread to the doorway.

I knock down the door with a running sholder takle. Or at least try to.

Darya and Wreck meet near the vending machines just in time to see the full assortment of Kit-Kats melt and bubble, it's heartbreaking to see that much food go to waste. A sad can of Coke submits to the heat of the rapidly expanding fire, sending hot soda spurting out of the vending machine and all over Wreck.

The man's eyes don't waver as he tells Shaman, "You can call me Techno, and I will call you Simpleton." He fires a stun beam from his wrist at Shaman.

On the other side of the hotel from Wreck and Darya, Kee'an manages to get the door down. An adorable 5 year old girl awaits him. "Big Bird! I knew you were a superhero! Mamma said you were a guy in a suit, but you can tell her!" She says with bright eyes.

Darya may be terrified as the vending machine (The one that shot sody on Wreck) begins speaking to them. "Sorry about that old chap, but that's what happens to a bloke when the heat is on, as they say. I see by your uncommon visage that the two of you seem to be mutants, just as I am. Could I trouble you to evacuate my being from this fiery inferno? I should be sure to reward you with the valuable contents of my change tray, in return."

The little girl giggles in glee as Kee'an emerges from the building, and hands her over to her grateful mother.

Songbird regains consciousness, noting her sleeping comrades. "Why the hell would you sell us out like that?" She asks. Techno spits at Songbird's feet. "You know you'd do the same thing… Though I doubt you'd be smart enough to do this…" He taps two buttons on his belt. The first one is responsible for the shrill, disconcerting beeping coming from a large box in the Sentinel wreckage, next to Shaman. The second is responsible for the disappearance of Techno, who is teleported away to places unknown…

It takes me far too long to change forms, if you were to leave me here I'd surely die. Do an old chap a favor, and bring him from this inferno, please." The bomb goes high in the air… And falls. It hits the ground and shatters, the beeping slowing to a sad, distorted "Beep… Beep… Boop… boop… bloooooop…….." Silence.

Wreck sees a four wheeled dolly nearby, which was previously used to stock the machines with drinks and food. The two of them are able to get the vending mutant onto it and out of the building just as it collapses.

The vending mutant laughs a hearty laugh, as it thanks the Hellions for saving it, giving Kee'an a boiling Dr. Pepper. "Surely, you are a kind, compassionate bunch of chaps! I thank you with the entirety of my being!" True to his word, the being opens up it's case, revealing $45.85, mostly in nickels. It weighs approximately 75 pounds. The vending machine slowly waddles away into the night, appreciating with all it's heart the group of young people that saved it from that fire. It will go on to have mutant children itself someday, and will tell the story many times to his wife and children.

As Hulk reverts to Banner and allows the unoccupied hotel to collapse, Songbird starts trying to awaken her unconscious teammates. She says to the Hellions without looking at them, "I didn't see any of you here. You didn't see me. This didn't happen. I'm not in the best place to take you in, and I really don't see any work for SHIELD in my future right now. I'd recommend you leave now, before my partners come to…"

Bruce Banner loads the kids up into the (now repaired) Iron Bus, and they take off into the night. take a nap.

«Done.»
