When we last left the Hellions, they were surrounded, encircled, outmaneuvered by a horde of demons on every side - and that situation hasn’t changed. But, once again, the zombies stand in a waiting position. The air is thick and heavy, the fog’s starting to roll in, and a very real shiver travels down their spines - Torrance can feel more of that strange dark force energy amassing. Something big is coming, and it’s coming close.

Will began to stir. The darkness that had consumed him was too much. Too perfect. He never knew how good it felt to just fade away. But as his eyes opened and he took in the situation he realized that it wouldn't be that easy. He slid his arms under himself and pushed off the cold cement, to his knees, and then his feet. He slowly reached down and picked up his gun.
"What'd I miss?"

After a moment, Emma Frost appears above the team - or, at least, what might have been Emma Frost at some time. Her body has changed in startling ways. She wears a regal gown with a flowing trail that seems to move on it’s own accord. Every strand of her hair dances and whips about, like a thousand snakes on Medusa’s head. The nails are longer, the muscles are bigger, it’s like her entire body is swelling with the dark energy.
And she’s wearing black. Big difference, there.
“Greetings.” She waves with one hand and tosses Shaman’s body down to them with the other. "I would like to commend you for your efforts thus far. You've survived longer than anyone before you, and believe me when I say there were many before you. You've fought through my hordes, you've entertained me, you even managed to kill my retainer - how, I have no idea, but Dominique is clearly dead. So, congratulations." She courtsies. "Now, bow to me."

Torrance arches her eyebrow, stifling a laugh when Jenny raises two fingers to "Emma".
"Ms. Frost? You got real ugly."
She backs up to the rest of the team. Cadmus is the tank, he can take this thing if need be.

Shaman hacks as he tries to pull himself together, his arm still burning from the junk she coated it with.
"She's a damn parasite…stronger then she looks."
He tries to raise himself up with his TK but is having trouble finding the strength.
"Don't pull your punches."
He does manage to find the strength to pull his tin out of his pocket.

Shaman looks up at Torrance and grins.
"You want to rock?"
He clenches his fists and focuses his TK on to his arm, pushing all of his power to free his arm from the burning junk on it.
"Then I'll show you…"
He gestures for his tin which flies back into his pocket as a joint flies to his mouth.
"…just how to rock."
A lighter floats up and sparks his joint as he extends his TK field around him and floats several feet above the ground. His eyes are almost glowing, to look at him you would wonder if it was rage or excitement, or very well both. He's ready to fight.

I raise my swords into a "ready to slice and dice" position, but I'm pretty sure I'll drop them if I end up fighting "The Queen." Don't want Emma's body dead unless there are no other options.

The Queen just shakes her head. "For once, just once, I was hoping you would listen to reason. What is it with humans and futility?" She spreads out her arms, power rippling through her body. "Kill them all."
The zombies attack.
They move fast, even faster than they could have moved during their real life, and most of them go for the target with the most meat - Cadmus. They swarm over him, biting and gnashing away, trying to pull his armor off and going for the creme filling.
But he's not the only one, just the worst. Plenty for everyone.

Kee'an slices one zombie clean in half - their decayed, rotten, easy to break. However, the torso moves quick and grabs him from behind before it even hits the ground, going for a nice neck bite.

Shaman yells to the group, he's learned this lesson first hand already. He turns back to the oncoming hordes and grins as he gestures with both hands in an attempt to start tearing them apart from a distance before he has to go in and get his hands dirty.

Blind forms an illusion and makes it run straight into the general direction of the zombie crowd. If it worked, it would at least draw their attention, until they figured out that there was nothing to eat.

Noir summons her whip wielding Succubus to add another body to their squad, and she hacks at the zombies herself with her Darkforce Gauntlet.
Jenny stays close to Kee'an, he'll need the back-up, and arcs a bolt at everything in a 30 degree radius in front of the two of them.

Shaman starts to tear through the horde just like before, but this time their numbers make all the difference: two of them - a bus driver with half a head and a VERY fat nurse - leap out the second story window of a nearby building, dragging him down to the ground.

He forces his TK field out around him, trying to create distance to stand back up, not even looking to see who is in the area that would be affected, just hoping to take out as many of the zombies as possible.

The zombies don't pay any heed to Blind's illusions; their undead state seems to cancel out his abilities over them.
His bullets get the Queen's attention, however, and two tendril whip out from the darkness in her gown, dragging him upwards by the hands and holding Blind before her. "Interesting little weapon you have here." She snatches the gun out of his hand. "I remember seeing something like this the last time I came to Earth…let me see if I remember how it works."
She shoots him in the thigh. "Ah, yes, I thought that was it."
Jenny's electricity is suprisingly effective - even when it's not enough to kill the zombies, the shock paralyzes them easily.

The experience is draining him, he's been a prisoner for god knows how long, and now he's not going to be content until he's sure that not a single one of these beasts is able to move. Reaching forward he tries to pull his teammates out of the swarm, pushing himself as hard as he can.

Cadmus starts plowing through the zombies like Moses throught the Red Sea.
Two come at him from the front, screaming. He silences them.
Three more run at him from the side; he hears thier panting. He turns, strikes once for them all, turns back and hears them no more. His breastplate changes from gold to a darkened red, as the undead mass falls before him.
Rock on, Cadmus. Rock on.

Will sees team go down. Surrounded. Desperation play. He sees Queen up in the sky and uses his powers to close the gap and possess her. Maybe he'll drive Queen out. Maybe he'll distract her long enough for everyone to get away. Maybe he'll get his soul torn apart and shat out. Maybe all of the above. We'll see.

The Queen looks disappointed. "Why, that's no fun. You have a hole in your leg. You should be screaming right about now…disappointing. It won't do." Blind starts to feel his control slack and the pain start to grow…
Meanwhile, Shama successfully pulls his teammates out of the horde and frees them from the zombies - just in time for them to all get a nasty shock, courtesy of Jenny.

Before the Queen can inflict any more pain on Blind, however, she feels a strange assault - Wraithling's mind starts to invade hers. Instead of taking control, however, Wraithling finds himself on a sort of astral plane - he seems Emma before him; floating in a sea of nothing, curled into a ball, shivering and silent.
On the outside, the Queen seems noticeably distraught, so much so that she drops Blind and starts grasping her head; more confused than in pain, but distracted nonetheless.

Blind opens his mouth wide, amplifies the Queen's hearing and shouts for all he's worth. Likely not good for much more than a distraction, but he'd use it to get free of the tentacles.
And then he falls anyway to the ground, landing on his leg.
"……I think I dislike you."

Blind's scream and Kee'an's knife piss off the Queen quite a bit; typically they'd be easy attacks to counter, but both hurt her immensely with the guard down.
Meanwhile, inside, Emma starts to stir. "I'm trying to fight it…I just…I need more time. Keep at her…distract…more time."
Before Emma can form a complete sentence, Wraithling is forced out rather harshly, and the Queen falls to the ground, panting.
"You insects." She stands on wobbly feet, looking seriously angered for the first time. The energy starts to swell around her, reaching a feverish high, looking ready to blow at any second.

Blind would attempt to manipulate her perception so that whatever she was trying, she'd target her own legion of zombies rather than the group. But he'd do it at the last possible moment, leaving her no time to counter.

Insects? Well I don't wait to be squashed. I run in after Kee'an does, though my weapons are holstered. Still don't want to kill Emma until there's no other choice. I barrel towards her, fists raised, preparing to do damage the schoolyard way. Only much, much harder.

He looks around for something to throw at her and gets an idea, he gestures with both hands and tries to throw a mass of her own zombies at her.

Blind’s perception change doesn’t work. The Queen bats away Noir’s blasts. She kicks Cadmus away with a swing of the heel and she diverts the zombies off her with a flick of the wrist. Nothing’s effective.
Except the eighteen wheeler that’s heading her way. That might work.

When I make it back to my feet after the Queen kicked me away like soccer ball, I just stare at Squirrel Girl and the eighteen wheeler she jumped out of.
"Well… shit. Score one for Doreen."
So maybe it wasn't that big of a mistake to let her on the team. I approach the wreckage behind Torrance. Emma/The Queen may be pinned and if it's one thing that I'm good for it's heavy lifting. The question is "Should I?" Does getting smacked by a truck cause an excorcism?

Torrance goes over to inspect the wreckage - she doesn't see Emma's body, but she notices that a pile of rubble is moving on the other side of the store she got knocked through.
Squirrel Girl's assualt seems to have scattered the zombie horde - for the moment. The group can hear more of them coming.

The Queen emerges from the rubble, looking obviously worse than went in - bones are contorted, her neck is snapped - she looks like some new age artist drew her. But she's starting to come back together, bone by bone.

"Momma!" The ground behind the Hellion's erupts as the same creature that Cadmus and Blind met earlier bursts forth; wailing, screeching, the unholy spawn yearning for its unholy mother. Its hand is sewed back on, it's hand is even bigger than before, and if it had eyes it would undoubtedly looked perturbed.

Noir summons a pack of Darkling Imps to overwhelm Emma. If they get smooshed by Shaman's attack, oh well.
Perhaps the Darkforce's penchant for feeding off of darkness within might affect Emma.

Letting out a feral cry, he runs with a speed much greater than something his size should have, scooping Kee'an up and trying to swallow him whole.

This didn't work that well the last time he tried, but hopefully this time will be different, especially if Wraithling gets in there as well. He pushes his empathy to it's limit.

The Tormented pauses at Cadmus' threat, and that pause is all it takes - Jenny's electricity slams into him hard, enrages him past reason. He starts to stumble around, smashing buildings as he goes. Kee'an catches a bit of the shock, too, but get tossed away.
Meanwhile, Wraithling and Shaman's combined pull is really starting to have an effect - the bonds the Queen have made are starting to unravel. Even though her body has healed up, the team can see a blast mist start to rise from it, as the Queen is forced out.

But a look over his shoulder reveals Jenny falling, and a gesture from his now free hand pulls her over towards himself, Noir, and Wraithling—out of the path of the beast.

Optimus Prime - who's actually about as big as your average skyscraper in this form - looks down on the team as if they were ants…well, actually, the scale would probably put them more along the lines of amoebas, but he can see them just fine.
His hand transforms into an energy axe, and he plunges it in the street, sending the Hellions flying in all directions and cleaving a massive gash in the Earth.

Shaman's TK jerk doesn't even faze Optimus. I reiterate, this bum's HUGE. And he's magic to some degree, which is a whole new set of pains.
Optimus leaps into the air and transforms into a massive semi, threatening to bring his wheels smashing down on the crew.

Since the town had its power off to start with - and Optimus has wrecked several buildings since his creation - there's precious little electricity in the area to take in…except from the gigantic robot, of course. Just as the Stay Puft Marshmellow man was made of marshmallows, Optimus Prime has wires and metals and, most importantly, electricity.
Jenny's able to absorb quite a bit of it, and Optimus noticeably slows on his rampage. However, just like the darkforce that Noir tried to control, this electricity has a sinister taint; it seems to move on its own will, resists her, hurts her, and the more she takes in, the more painful a process it is. Arcs of black lightning crackle about her.

The black cloud has gotten closer to the ground, and it doesn't even resemble a cloud that much any more - it's much more solid, now. Emma picks herself off the ground from Optimus' last attack, looking bewildered at it. "It's…it's a portal. Just like Erebus used."

Taking notice of Jenny and Optimus, Shaman gets an idea. He floats over to Jenny and retracts his TK over his arms, looking towards Jay.
"Ixnay! Kill my powers if this doesn't work!"
He reaches out and grabs onto Jenny's face.
Contact.
"I know it hurts, but try to share the pain."
Shaman is trying something new, seeing if he can take some of the pain from Jenny so she wont be saddled with all of it.

Optimus transforms back to his original form and falls to his knees at Jenny's assault - its not hurting him, but it is slowing him down, even if it's sheer torture for her; the dark energy strikes at her body intelligently, going for the weakest points, gnaws at her and tries to force its release.

Optimus takes out his gun and starts to draw a bead on the crew.

The group finds themselves in what looks like Hell - or, at least, Devil May Cry 3's odd interpretation of it. Rather bright, lots of random chunks of earth floating about, the wails of a thousand souls all around them.
And there, sitting atop a scraggly throne of rock, sits the Queen. Her skin is dry. Her body is gaunt. Her bones brittle. Her hair is gone. She looks like the slightest push would kill her.

It does kill her. Sort of. The ball crushes her body into nothingness, but wisps of darkness flow from the cracks, flit through the air, and find their way into everyone's body. It's faint, yes, but they can sense the smallest sliver of the Queen within them.
"Thank you." The darkness whispers in their minds. "Thank you for freeing me from my frail prison. With my soul freed, I can move it wherever I like…and I choose to place it in you."
The voice fades and the presences dims, and the realm begins to dim along with it - the portal is closing.

I figured there might be a catch. Would never have bet on that. I do not appreciate the intrusion in the slightest. But with the portal shutting down, I don't have time to become angry about it.
Assuming Shaman didn't somehow defend himself, I grab his recently shot up body on my way out. Jenny too, if she's still unconscious.

The group makes their way out of the portal, and finds that the town is much more wrecked then the way they left it - what with the giant robot, and all. Holes all about, hardly an intact building in sight, countless corpses littering the street…but the mall's intact, miraculously…and Optimus Prime isn't, even moreso. His parts are scattered all about, torn to shreds, and the group can see Squirrel Girl sittings on his disembodied head, with Jenny laying gently beside her.
"What took you guys so long?!"

Yeah. Definitely have to take back my reservations about allowing her to tag along. Go Doreen. After taking in the damage - both to the town and to Optimus - I set Shaman down.
I feel like clawing at my soul, except I can't because that makes no sense. I'm pretty certain the last time I was legitimately enraged before today was when Will jumped into my body. This is more intrusive.

The group here's a rumbling in the distance, but this time it's nothing sinister - just the Iron Bus coming their way. It pulls up beside them, and Claira pops out. "Found your stupid bus, kept me safe from all the zombies." She looks around, nods. "Not bad work, I'm impressed. Why all the sad faces?"

Shaman manages to restablish his TK to keep him above ground, but his hands are shaking uncontrollably. He reaches for his tin and barely manages to pull a joint out, he's not even attempting to use his powers. Lighting it is the problem though, he can't stay still long enough to keep the flame going.
"The bitch…the rage…"
He looks towards Wraithling.
"You weren't with us in the Church…"

I could, perhaps, mention to Will that the souls of the zombified townspeople already got shipped off to their respective afterlives when we killed Dominique, and maybe get him off Shaman's back. Could. Too busy being irked at having a piece of the Queen riding shotgun.
