Hellions Unlimited #3
Post by Star/Muse on Jan 8, 2007, 8:07pm
Little dual fic by me and Heatwave, occurring directly after the ICE CREAM! topic.
Title: Hanging Out
Cover Description: Meghan and Kelly walking down a street, a menacing shadow can be seen following them.
Meghan felt nervous as the two left the Hellfire Club, she wasn't sure why. She tried to get her mind off being nervous and turned to Kelly. "So, where to first? I'd say we just go this way," she points to the left of the Club. "What do you think?"
Slightly bemused, Kelly responded. "Sure why not?" Pulling Meghan by the arm, she started walking in that direction, but seemed as if she had something she wanted to say that she was stifling. "Have you ever been around these parts?" she asked, continuing to repress it.
"What are you doing?" Meghan asked as Kelly pulled her so hard she nearly fell. Once she regains her balance, she answers. "Nope, this is my first time. I grew up California," She stops and glances at Kelly. "Is there something you want to say Kelly? You seem distracted."
Kelly kept on walking until she realised that Meghan had stopped, and then did a double take, almost falling over backwards. For someone so agile, she really was a clutz. Steadying herself, she turned and faced Meghan.
"Um, well… I was just wondering if you'd sent your mom a letter yet." Holding onto Meghan's hand, she started walking again. "Come on. Let's talk while we walk."
"Oh, it's about that. No, I haven't and I don't really plan to," Meghan stops talking for a moment as she tries to hold back tears. "I don't want her to have to worry anymore. It's better if she doesn't here from me," she can't hold the tears back any longer. "I'm sorry, I didn't want it to be like this. We were supposed to have fun."
Feeling compelled to press the matter but hesitant to do so, Kelly replied reluctantly.
"We will. But I think that we should talk about this at some point - either now or later. I don't want to be too nosy, but I think that your mother will probably worry more not hearing from you at all. She'd probably be relieved to get a letter - to know that you're doing fine!"
"You're probably right…" she wipes away the tears, embarrased about starting to cry. "Kelly, I write a letter every week and have never sent one, am I a bad daughter? I just didn't want her to have to worry about me."
"Of course you aren't a bad daughter!" Kelly insisted, wondering if she had made a mistake by bringing the topic up. She was probably going into matters that she had no right to. "You write a letter every week because you care. You don't send it because you don't want her to worry - again, because you care. You left in the first place because you thought it would make things easier for your mom - because you care! Where in any of this could you seem to be a bad daughter?"
"Well…you said she's probably worrying more now," Meghan responds. "I don't want her to worry, so if my way of doing that is making her worry…." she trails off. "You know what? I think I'm going to send the letter I wrote last night," she stops and pulls Kelly to a stop. "It took a lot to bring this up, thanks," she hugs Kelly.
"No problem," Kelly beamed, returning the hug. "I'm sure she'll be over the moon about hearing from you." Skipping a little, she pulled Meghan along. "Now what say we do this the fun way?" she asked, now floating and taking Meghan with her. "So much more fun then just walking, don't you think?"
Meghan laughs as they take to the air. "You make a good point, this is more fun." As they fly they spot a crowded Ice Cream shop. "Hey, there's one!"
Touching down outside the Ice Cream shop, both girls drew many gazes.
"Hey, don't you know it's rude to stare?" Kelly asked the group, indignantly. Seemingly on cue, the crowd pulled back, resolving to stand behind the girls. Approaching the counter, they were faced by a kindly looking, gray haired old man.
"What'll you be having, young ladies?"
"Hmm… I'll ha-" Meghan is cut off by a person that the girls probably should recognize.
"Why, hello there ladies. I saw you fly in."
"And who might you be?" Kelly asks.
"I'm Bobby Drake. You may know me as Iceman. I'm with the X-Men," he grins as though that's supposed to impress them.
"Anyway," Meghan turns back to the Window. "I'll have a chocolate cone."
"I'll have the same," Kelly said to the old man. Taking her ice cream, she turned to Meghan and whispered to her. "Bobby Drake… do you recognise that name?"
"No… He did say he was with the X-men, so maybe you saw him on TV," came the reply.
"Maybe." Licking her ice cream, Kelly turned so that she half faced both Meghan and Bobby. "So, what're you doing here, Bobby?" Clearly she didn't realize how silly the question was.
"I came down here to get some Ice Cream, and I ran into two lovely ladies," Bobby responds. "What are you girls doing? You should come hang out with me," he grins and motions to his table.
"Yeah, no," Meghan says without hesitation.
“What? Come on. How can you turn down an offer like that?” Bobby asked, genuinely confused, whilst at the same time insistent.
“Not interested,” Kelly replied as politely as she could.
“I’m sure your blonde friend would like to spend a little time with me,” Bobby continued, clearly not catching a hint.
“She’s definitely not interested.”
“But-”
“No,” Kelly stated with a smile.
"Thank you Kelly," Meghan smirks.
As if on cue, people begin running out of the bank across the street, screaming.
"What the hell…" Bobby jumps up and runs across the street.
"Should we join him?" Meghan asks Kelly.
“Let’s see what’s up, first. If it’s a fight and he can take care of it, I’d really rather not get dragged in. If he can’t… well, you know.”
Bobby shifted into his ice form as he was running across the street, and ran straight into the path of a moving car.
Wincing, Kelly continued. “Then again, he may not be able to deal with it. I’m not entirely sure he can feed himself without help.”
"Yeah, we better go help him," Meghan grabs Kelly by the arm and teleports them across the street. She pushes the door to the bank open.
“Look you morons, we can do this the hard way, or we can do this the harder way!” came a voice from the front of the bank. A man stood there with both arms stuck out and forwards. He was wrapped head to toe in what was oddly reminiscent of both pineapples and quilts – red and yellow from top to bottom. The Shocker.
“God, could you be any more cliché?” Meghan asked him, sarcastically.
Bobby chose this point to run into the bank, looking like he was in pain. The pain seemed to vanish when he took a look at the Shocker, and was instead replaced by a fit of hysterics. “Hi Herman,” he managed to say through the giggles.
“Herman?” Meghan asked. “Aw, how are you, Hermie?”
“Have you heard of this guy, Meg?” Kelly asked her, a little confused.
“No, but he looks like a grade A loser,” came the response.
“Don’t call me that!” The comment clearly infuriated Shocker, as he charged a light vibroshock and ran it through the ground. Meghan had the sense of mind to dodge it, but Kelly stood in place rather absent mindedly.
“Hee-ey, Megh… IIII feellllll funnnnunnunnny…”
"That was uncalled for," Meghan said, glancing at Kelly who seemed to be ok now. Meghan disappears and reappears behind Shocker. "Next time, maybe you'll think twice about hurting my friend," she blasts him with 4 or 5 energy blasts.
Shocker hits the ground, but he's fine. He gets up and attempts to attack Meghan. "Take this you crazy bitch!"
Meghan simply teleports behind him, hitting him with more energy blasts. Getting frustrated by Meghan’s attacks, he waited for her to teleport again and grabbed her shirt, running vibrations through it and throwing her aside.
“No! Why did you do that?” Kelly called out, about to rush Shocker before he was suddenly frozen to the spot.
“Hey, that wasn’t cool,” drawled Bobby, having frozen him.
“Oh, great, more clichés,” commented Meghan as she got back up and teleported beside Kelly.
“Meg, you’re okay!”
“Of course. It’s gonna take more than this loser to put me down.”
“I am NOT a loser!” Shocker growled, shattering his ice prison with a blast from his vibroshock gauntlets.
"Yeah, tell it to the judge," Meghan says as she starts blasting Shocker as fast as she can. "Kelly, you should join me."
"I'd join you ladies any day," Bobby chuckles.
"Is this really the time for that?" Kelly asks before blasting Shocker.
“For you two? Do you want an honest answer?” he asked.
“How lewd,” replied Kelly.
“And again – so not interested,” added Meghan.
Shocker was reeling from the light attacks directed at him. “Bad enough I go down to Spider-man once a month, I’m going to go down to a bunch of meddling kids?” He charged up another vibroshock blast, at medium power this time, and fired it at Bobby, knocking him out and knocking him backwards. The next two blasts hit Shocker in unison, knocking him out. Kelly went to check that that was all they did.
“You forgot our meddling dog,” Meghan said whilst indicating in Bobby’s direction. Having checked on Shocker, both girls leaned over Bobby, checking on him as he came to.
“Am I in heaven?” he asked groggily, looking up at the two girls.
“Cheesy and clichéd to the bitter end,” Meghan commented to Kelly, pushing Bobby’s head back down as he tried to lift it.
.
"Yeah, he's pretty much useless," Kelly responded.
Meghan laughed, "Sounds about right, all he did was get in the way."
"We did all the work," Kelly responds.
"Lets get out of here," Meghan gets up and heads for the door.
Kelly follows, but stops before exiting. She turns to Bobby, "You think you can handle him from here? We knocked him out for you."
Bobby gets up without responding, "Yeah yeah, just get going. I could have handled him on my own…"
The girls walk out and take flight, heading back to the Hellfire Club.

. I like Shocker. He's one of the ones that know his place and isn't an absolute idiot. Well, 616 shocker at least.

Let's see, Rhino, Dr. Octopus, Carnage (I ought to finish that…) and now Shocker. We're just steamrolling our way through that Rogues Gallery.

Fun issue, Bobby seemed to be bordering on lercherism though >_>
We took down Hydro-man too! I propose Sandman next.

He did seem almost lewd, didn't he?
We thought about using Sandman, but couldn't think of a way to take him out without using cement or water. And, no. No vacuum cleaners allowed .
After someone's used Sandman, Mudman is a must!

Hydro-Man, Beetle, Electro, and Boomerang don't really count, since they were in a mission, not a fic.
