Good news: The Hellions are going to meet the Avengers! All of them!

Bad news: The Hellions are going to meet the Great Lakes Avengers. All of them.

Emma Frost, in all her bald-headed glory, wanted them to meet up with the original Avengers - Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, etc. Unfortunately, Dr. Doom just had to steal North Carolina (long story) that day, and the Avengers were called to action.

Then, she wanted to take them on a flight to the West Coast and meet their Avengers - but, damn, missing an entire state sort of messed up the airway systems.

So she had to settle for the lowest of the low, and is currently heading towards Milwaulkee, Wisconson. Not too far to go…

Emma overhears the conversation, peeking out from the front seat. "Actually, about the GLA actually being Avengers…it's a little complex. You see-"

Before Emma can lay it all out, an ambulance whizzes past the bus, heading towards the city. Then another ambulance. And another. Six totals. Milwaukee is starting to come into view, and though it's still faint, they can see a rather thing level of smoke rising from the city.

Emma sighs. "Whatever I did to deserve this, I'm sorry."

Also, about Doom stealing North Carolina: That's just something I got from playing Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego? a few years back. I remember one of the cards said she stole North Carolina, which really kind of freaked me out since…that's where I live and all. I knew Carmen was slick, but damn…

Emma's already heading there, but before she can enter the city, a little boy darts out in front of the bus, waving his arms frantically. Emma brings it to a stop and lets the boy on, and he immediately begins to speak. Only…well…he doesn't sound like a little boy at all. More like a robot.

"FINALLY, HELP HAS ARRIVED! HEROES, I AM DIRE NEED OF YOUR ASSISTANCE!"

The boy clears his throat."THOUSANDS OF YEARS AGO IN THE FUTURE, I CAME TO THIS LOWLY PLANET IN ORDER TO SAVE IT FROM THE TERRIBLE FATE THAT WOULD BEFALL ON IT, ONLY TO FIND THAT I HAD COME TO EARLY - THE WORLD WASN'T RULED BY HUMAN, BUT BY THE FURRONS, THE PREHISTORIC ANCESTORS OF WHAT YOU WOULD CALLED 'BUNNY RABBITS'. THE FURRONS WORKED THE HUMANS MERCILESSLY, MAKING THEM HARVEST THEIR EGGS IN THE HOT SUN, AND WERE LEAD BY THE RABID RABBIT TYRANT, SIR EASTER, WHO USED THE YOLK OF THE EGGS TO POWER HIS TOILETS - IN WHICH HE DEFECATED."

Emma raises an eyebrow.

"I TRIED TO FIGHT THE FURRONS, BUT MY ROBOT BODY WAS DECIMATED BY THEIR SUPERIOR STRENGTH AND INCREDIBLE TEETH, AND MY SOUL - MY ROBOT SOUL - WAS DOOMED TO WALK THE EARTH FOREVER…AT LEAST, UNTIL THE EARTH WAS DESTROYED, THREE YEARS AGO. Carmen hops off the car, walking towards Possessed Cadmus - stopping only to regard Emma for a moment.

"Bitch." Emma replies.

Carmen walks on, stopping in front of Cadmus, who's become eeriely calm. "I apologize for all the trouble here. X-299 is a project I was working on with SHIELD…he got lose, and then things got out of hand you understand."

"MOMMA!" Possessed shrieks. "MOMMA, I WAS HERE, AND I WAS TRYING TO HELP, AND THESE PEOPLE WERE MEAN TO ME, AND - "

Carmen is fazed by Wreck's appearance…but only for a moment. "Yes, I remember you. As a matter of fact, I brought a present, just for you." Carmen whips out a grenade, pulls the pin, then plunges it straight in Wreck's chest. She kicks him away, high in the air, and he explods in a bloody flash.

"Finally, some non-lizard action. Momma likes."

Possessed looks a bit confused, but he relucantly agrees and charges forth.

Re: Hellions #9 - Cybernetic Ghost of Christmas Pa
Post by Marisol Morales on May 15, 2007, 12:02am

Oddly enough, Cadmus gets a response from Emma. "Not if I can help it…he's wedged in tight, but I think we can lose him together. Try and focus on your self."

Carmen grunts at Jesse's attack, but she's made of tough stuff. "Jesse Buchanon. Age 17, roughly 140 pounds, weight manipulation." She walks over to nearby car and sends it flying Jesse's way with a kick. "I wonder what's your limit. Let's test it, shall we?"

Re: Hellions #9 - Cybernetic Ghost of Christmas Pa
Post by Jesse "Masstress" Buchanon on May 15, 2007, 12:08am

"Wah!"

Jesse releases Carmen's nipples as she loses her concentration. More out of reflex than conscious attempt, she lightens the flying car as much as she possible can, and tries to volleyball spike it back at Carmen. Assuming it doesn't crush her, she'll weigh it down again to hit Carmen. If Jesse was in a clearer state of mind, she would have simply jumped over the car, but this is entirely new territory for her.

Re: Hellions #9 - Cybernetic Ghost of Christmas Pa

Before Wreck can kill Carmen - again - she jets out two fingers and plunges them straight in his eye sockets."You know, I've dreamed this a few times. Even before I met you, I knew you, I think. Deja vu and all." She holds him up, fingers twisting around where his eyeballs used to be. "Seeing it so many times, nearly having it happen once…yes, I think that's adequate preparation. Try a new trick." She tosses him away into what's left of the McDonald's.

Meanwhile, the car slams into Masstress - she manages to lighten it quite a bit, but only to the point where it wieghs about five times her own weight. The car hits her hard, and falls with the hood on top of her, weighing her down.

Meanwhile, X-299 grabs his head, shaking violently as Cadmus and Emma start to mess him up.

She can feel her concentration giving away, along with a crippling lack of breathing ability. The car begins getting heavier as she starts losing consciousness.

Wreck manages to dematerialize the car easily, but he doesn't have time to breath a sigh of relief - or breath at all. A manhole comes flying at him from the side and split him at the waist, courtesy of Carmen.

In the distance, a SHIELD helicarrier can be seen coming into view, and Carmen seems happy to see it. "Finally…"

Wreck's flying upper half actually manages a sigh, before bouncing off of the dirt and skidding away. His legs flop over and lay still.

A few moments later, they dissolve and he stands again.

"……new trick, eh?"

Wreck points toward Carmen, summoning an entropy field in front of himself. Then he twists his arm around rapidly, forming a roughly 6 foot tall tornado of energy, which goes roaring in her direction.

"Look at me, I'm Sienna Blaze but without the dead."

Re: Hellions #9 - Cybernetic Ghost of Christmas Pa
Post by Alexander "Cadmus" Baptiste on May 15, 2007, 12:44am

Decisions, decisions. There's little I can do to aid Emma as she helped me. That said, we really don't need a telepathically empowered X-299 running around. Then there's Carmen, who as I understand it has plagued this incarnation of the Hellions almost since its inception. Really don't need her getting away from here scott free… again.

So delegate.

"Somebody knock Emma out. She'll thank you later."

Yeah, that's not happening. Meanwhile I charge Rosewell. Stomping. And stabbing. And stomping some more.

Oddly enough, Wreck's attack doesn't come close - an aura of darkened energy surrounds the tornado, engulfs it, dissipates it. Seems like Nexus is around, but keeping his distance.

Meanwhile, Carmen meets Cadmus and takes him head on, grasping his wrists and pushing forward - strong as he is, Carmen is a fair bit stronger and starts to force him back. "Alexander Baptiste. Cadmus. Class 80 strength…just as I surmised. Inferior."

Before she can elaborate, Liz's attack causes her to lose her footing.

Adamantium is all over the place, why don't I have any swords made out of it?

I discard the sword and fall back to brute force. Though I'm not sure how useful it will be. Thing can hang with Hulk, can't he? You know, until he inevitably gets his ass kicked. Just don't focus on that part. Hoping she isn't quite reoriented yet, I try to catch Rosewell with an uppercut to delay that further. Some SHIELD EMT's go over to Jesse and start to treat her, while Maraiah continues to talk. "Carmen…I thought we agreed that you wouldn't be going into the field with this."

"Sorry, couldn't resist." Carmen stands up, dust off, turns to Emma. "The problem's taking care of itself, as you see."

Emma is on her knees, breathing hard.

«"Bullets. My only weakness. How did they know?"»

At first I first I stare, mildly awe struck by the sheer volume of people prepared to kill me but I regain my composure. Sort of.

"Surely you jest. This woman loosed a dangerous entity on the city, keeps company with a Darkforce empowered assassin and has caused this team no end of hell since it began. Give me one good reason to stand down. Other than, you know, that you'll kill us."

I keep an eye on Emma, though am reluctant to get close enough to get possessed again.

"That's still you right?"

Despite a healthy amount of mumbling and grumbling, Jesse doesn't bother resisting the EMTs. Though she probably wouldn't have even if her vision wasn't suddenly blurring heavily.

Carmen shrugs. "First off, I didn't loose anything - he got free. Second of all, the 'assassin' is a dear friend of mine, and it's not like you haven't had questionable people on your own team."

Maraiah sighs. "She's under contract, and X-299 is part of it."

"Not anymore he's not." Emma stands up, a little groggy. "He's gone."

"Where did he go?"

"Under contract…" I sigh it as much as I say it. "I guess her SHIELD connections get her off of the hook for kidnapping the Hellions as well? I wonder where finds the time be a world peacekeeping taskforce when you have to go offer pyschos like Ms. Rosewell here asylum every ten minutes."

There we go. The defecation obsessed science experience will never bother us again.

«Aaaaaaand I gotta go. I have an early morning and need some sleep.»

"Nowhere - to put it simply, I crushed him in my mind. He was strong…but, also, an idiot."

"Care to prove that?" Maraiah steps forward with Carmen close behind. "We don't have any proof that the project isn't just hiding within you…it's best to keep you under quarantine until we can sort this out."

Carmen is looking way too happy about all this.

"So since Mr. Rosewell here is a known accomplice of Arcade, does that mean Arcade gets the benefit of SHIELD's milk and cookies too?"

"I have no record of Carmen having any involvement with Arcade." She throws a cautious glance Rosewell's way.

"Oh, really? He records everything. In fact, if anyone really wanted to look, I'm sure they could turn up videotapes of her entire little run with him. Many videotapes. Videotapes with copies that would be pretty damning in court."

Wreck glares from his position half in the dirt.

[Gah, getting too late. It sucks, but I'll have to fast forward a bit.]

Suddenly…well, suddenly nothing happens. Carmen stops. Maraiah stops. The officers stop. Everyone stops…except the Hellions.

Emma heads back towards the bus, motioning for the others to follow. "I can't hold this for too long…everyone, inside. Now."

"……was wondering what you were waiting on. Though I was expecting you to have them do a tapdance number."

Wreck pulls himself out of the dirt.

"……um, Jesse probably needs a doctor. Being hit with a car couldn't tickle."

[Yeah, but he keeps handing her worse than what she gives. She pulled his legs off. He got better and jabbed a hand through her stomach <_<]

«Yeah, but it was just in reference to the "I've been waiting a long time for this." Or however it went. And something about Deja Vu.»
