Mission 4: Abandon Hope…
Post by Squirrel Girl on Feb 28, 2007, 9:56am

It had started as a relatively normal day for Emma Frost.

She woke up. Had some coffee. Read the paper. Checked in with current events, and turned to the editorial page for a good laugh. Checked a few exams. Vaguely considered wearing a dress that wasn’t white, simply to throw the children off, but decided against - after all, there was something to be said for routine.

After about an hour of that, she left the room and went on her daily rounds.

Her first matter of the day was checking up on Nicolette; there were a few details about the upcoming directives that Emma wanted to go over with her, see where she stood on a few issues. Simple questions.

Emma knocked on Nicolette’s door. Once. Waited. Twice. Waited longer. Thrice. A full minute of waiting that time. She’d never known the girl to be the sort to sleep in late…odd. It was a little informal, but Emma picked the lock and entered…

Emma Frost's voice rings into the heads of the Hellions…and the New Mutants, too. She sounds panicked, confused, and not at all in the mood to distinguish between them.

"Everyone, report to Nicolette's room! Immediately!"

When the Hellions and whatever New Mutants are willing reach Nicolette's room, they don't notice a whole lot out of whack. Bed's unmade. A few books laying around. That odd smell that every girl's room in the world possesses.

Oh, and there's a swirling vortex of pure, blackened evil emanating from the far wall. That's new.

"Hey look. It's a swirling vortex of pure, blackened evil. I've always wanted one of those."

God damn Emma Frost making me walk.

I stare at the black thingy thoughtfully.
"What is it?" I ask after a few moments. Actually, I think I might have seen something similar once, very briefly. But I'm still honestly curious.

"It's just not fair. If anyone deserves a swirling vortex of pure, blackened evil, I'd like to think it would be me. And she had the nerve to get Emma to make us all come and admire it. Alright, I've seen your swirling vortex of pure, blackened evil. It's very nice. I'm leaving now."

I turn and start to walk, but I only really take a few steps.

-Wildfire-

Erebus. I don't even have to ask.

I make my in Nicolette's room, taking in the scene as I go - I've seen Erebus energy like this before, it's markedly similar to other portals he's made. "What happened here?"

Emma looks back at Wildfire, but doesn't answer at first. Instead, she brings up a note and starts reading.

Greetings,

It's been a long time since I've seen you all, and you know what they say - absence makes the heart grow fonder. So I'm suggesting a little get together, at my place. Nicolette's already joined me, and we're having so much fun - but two people do not a party make. Simply step in through the vortex and you'll be whisked away to the Darkforce dimension, where I have some lovely activities set up for you. If you don't, well…I guess I'll just have to make due with Nicolette. For as long as she endures, anyway.

Oh, and if you bring any X-Men, Avengers, Fantastic Four, whatever, the portal will spit you all back out. This is a private party, after all. But, at the same time, do feel free to bring some of the New Mutants along. I've heard they're an interesting bunch.

-Erebus.

Nephy feels like asking 'Who is Erebus', but descides this is not a good time for questions most people know the answer to.

Darkforce? That's what Torrance uses, right?

Re: Mission 4: Abandon Hope…
Post by Squirrel Girl on Feb 28, 2007, 10:23am

"It's not that simple." I turn to Blind, shaking my head. "From what I hear, Erebus has split with his human component. The Erebus who did this doesn't even qualify as a living being…more like a living emotion, really."

Emma shakes her head. "The last I heard, Erebus - his human component, at least - was in Britain.. Not that he'd be much use at the moment, really…he's powerless, I think."

Emma's still standing there. Still staring. "We can't rush this. It's a fight on unknown soil against unknown enemies with unknown powers…and it's not a very optional battle, either." She turns around, finally, face solemn and solid. "We take an hour. One hour. This portal has presumably been here for a while, so Erebus is willing to wait. Get ready."

[Just a little excuse. Have to head to class for a little bit soon, but I'll be back by midday.]

Re: Mission 4: Abandon Hope…
Post by Prime on Feb 28, 2007, 11:01am

MEANWHILE, SOMEWHERE FAR AWAY…

I am asleep.

At least, I very, very much hope I am…

I feel too horrible to be awake.

I'm fully conscious, I'm certain of that much. My eyes seem to be open, but I can't see anything. Not a single thing. I'm either blind… or surrounded by absolute, impenetrable darkness. I think I'm floating, but not by my own will. The air around me seems think and fluid, almost as if it was holding my up by itself. An errant thought hits my head: how am I breathing? Am I even breathing? Am I even alive? I don't really feel anything, other than a horrid, sharp cold. I should be shivering madly, but don't think I am. Instead, I actually feel more or less… numb.

In the end, this doesn't matter…

My mind is in a shroud, completely closed off from anything - the only thing that's getting through is fear and an unending feeling of pain. And not the physical kind… I'm not in control of my emotions anymore, not even my thoughts. I'm feeling more and more desperate with every passing moment, and I hate it. Hate it, hate it, hate it, hate it, hate it… HATE IT! I've gotten so used to bypassing this feeling, and now it's overwhelming me. For what must have been the thousanth time, I try doing something. Anything. I attempt to fly… Not only do I get anywhere, I also have the maddening feeling that I don't even move. I want to scream so badly, but can't do that either. And the more I try and fail, the more I want to do it…

I can't concentrate, but a part of me knows what's happening and where I am. I should feel angry beyond imagination, I should be more furious than I ever have been in my life… but I'm not. Why am I not? I just feel empty and desperate. In my head, there's a constant string of negative adjectives, occasionally interchanged by the word "HORRIBLE". I… think I'm thinking about myself. The bouts of dysphoria only go away for wild, intense feelings of panic. I want to thrash around, to have any kind of effect… but nothing happens. Absolutely nothing…

I want to get out of here. I don't care how… I just want to get out of here!

Please…

Somebody…

Save me…

Re: Mission 4: Abandon Hope…
Post by Squirrel Girl on Feb 28, 2007, 12:35pm

An hour later, a somewhat timid group of Hellions - and assorted New Mutants - enters the portal. As each one goes inside, they’re pulled through a tunnel of pure darkness, faint energies swirling around them. It’s almost as if they’re floating through the black reaches of some empty universe - but this world is decidedly not empty. Screams, moaning, voice pleading for life and getting death a moment later echo all around them, and even Blind’s uncanny senses are baffled by the macabre symphony. It’s as if every moment of Erebus’ life, every victim he ever tortured, every one of his ‘sessions’ are reliving themselves around them.

Stay together. Emma’s voice calls out to them over the ruckus, her body barely visible at the lead. “None of it’s real. Remember that.”

The group finally stops moving, and they come to rest on a huge, round earthen platform, an arena with no audience. It floats about the infinite blackness, and several other platforms float above it. Seven, total.

“Interesting.” Wildfire steps out, checking the surroundings with a gadget she picked up from Forge. “It’s a perfect living environment. Not detecting any anomalies, aside from the obvious ones. Blind, can you sense anything?”

[Alright, we're in. Anybody who wants to join in, go to Nicolette's room and jump in the portal. You'll join up instantly.]

Blind amplifies his hearing, attempting to pick up any signs of life. Heartbeats, breathing, footsteps, anything.

Re: Mission 4: Abandon Hope…
Post by Squirrel Girl on Feb 28, 2007, 12:44pm

Blind senses a few things.

First off, on the top platform, there's a giggling. It's a bit hard to make out, but the giggling does sound familiar…similar to a certain dead Japanese girl.

Second off, each platform seems to have a different being on it, but there's something blocking him from taking a look - it's as if Erebus is only letting Blind see as much as he wants.

Third off, there seems to be something beneath them, inside the rock of the platform. It's a steady pulse…like a heartbeat.

I ignore the images.

Re: Mission 4: Abandon Hope…

Almond's bolts fly up, reach a certain point - then fizzle into nothing. Absorbed into the darkforce. It seems there's an out-of-bounds sort of thing going on; if you go so far from the platform, it's not pretty.

Re: Mission 4: Abandon Hope…
Post by Squirrel Girl on Feb 28, 2007, 12:52pm

The ground start to shake and splinter, then bursts apart as something massive makes its way to the surface, knocking away anyone who didn't get clear.

It's the Blob. But not quite.

He looks even bigger and fatter than usual, about twice his typical size. Veins stretch all over his body, as if it can barely contain itself. His eyes are glazed, his jaw wide open, blood running down his lips. "H…hungry. So…so hungry."

"Ah, Blob, is that anyway to treat our guest?" Erebus' voice echoes around them. "I really must apologize for him. I met him a few weeks ago, and convinced him to go on a diet. Brought him here, and I thought it would work out - but he really is quite the glutton. I've managed to cut him down to about three people a day, so he's getting better."

Re: Mission 4: Abandon Hope…

"Blob? Your name is Blob? Ya don't have a lotta self esteem, do you pal?"

Re: Mission 4: Abandon Hope…
Post by Squirrel Girl on Feb 28, 2007, 12:59pm

Erebus laughs. "Like looking in the future, isn't it Jesse? Anyway, Blob stopped caring about self-esteem weeks ago, didn't you, Blob?"

"Feed…must eat. Eat…" He starts to walk towards them, mouth wide open, the foulest stench blowing forth.

"Ah, there he goes again. Maybe you'll be able to talk him down this time. Lord knows I've tried."

Emma ignores Erebus' taunts and makes her way to the back of the group. "I'm trying to reach him telepathically, but nothing I do works; it's hard for me to do anything that would wreck his mind any worse than it already has. You'll have to take him down physically."

I take a step forward. It's important to be confident here.
"If you really cared, you'd get him a brush and toothpaste," I say loudly.
Well, whatever. As much as it peeves me, I'll try an electric bolt for starters. Yeah, I know… I make it fairly powerful, enough to kill an elephant, and aim it at his eyes.

Re: Mission 4: Abandon Hope…
Post by Squirrel Girl on Feb 28, 2007, 1:05pm

Blob roars in agony at the bolt, covering his eyes. "Eyes, eyes! Kill…kill you!" He spits it more than he says it, saliva flying from his mouth. Stammering around, his one good focuses on the person nearest: Nephy.

"Eat, eat, eat!" He charges towards her, looking ready to swallow her in one gulp.

I responded to the call late… and reluctantly. I didn't want to leave my room, and I shouldn't. I should be there preparing for when Kidd comes back. Preparing her homecoming. After taking care of a few things in my room, I walked slowly over to Nicolette's. With each step, the white dress Kidd made swayed slightly. Looking down at my hands, it was as if I could still see the blood all over them.

I stepped into the room and saw the portal immediately. Of course I did. It was so glaringly obvious. If I had my empathy still then it would have screamed at me. To me. What’s the difference? It would have screamed the instant it formed. But I didn’t have my empathy. Just another failure.

Erebus…

I’m not quite sure what to do. Have they gone in already? How do I deal with him? It’s… the Darkforce. Any time I’ve been in there, it’s only been for very short times. They must have gone through already.

I took a tentative step into it, and braced myself, with no idea what I would feel.

Erebus… what have you done now?

"God damn it, God damn it!" The blood in Blob's face obstructs his vision and he doesn't quite think to stop - he runs all the way over to the ledge and fall off, screaming for a second - then a horrible ripping sound silences him. If any of them look over the edge, they'll see the sight you'd only see in a meat processing factory.

[For the record, I don't have a sick mind, per se, so much as I have a mind that can think sick when it wants to. It fits Erebus' character.]

Re: Mission 4: Abandon Hope…

[Well, evil, yeah. Evil's just fun.]

The group is teleported again, and they find themselves facing another oddity - Emma Frost herself. Or at least, Emma's face. And Jesse's arms. And Nephy's legs. And Kelly's chest.

The being in front of them keeps switching, each body part randomly morphing from one form to the next. No matter what face she takes, though, she always looks at them with hatred.

"Meet Copycat." Erebus comes back. "Copycat has a rather unique ability - she can be anyone she wants, anytime, and it's a perfect match - so perfect she can't even tell the difference sometime. It tried to help her with her powers, but she just kept refusing and refusing, so I put her in the darkness a little while. This is how she came out. Right now all your memories, feelings, powers - all that makes you who you are is cycling through her body and mind. No control. I think she'd like it to stop."

"Get out of my head!" She screams at them in a dozen voices.

"See?"

Slowly, my shield wrapped around me, but not in it's normal form. Not in the shape of the battle suit I used in the last mission either. It was as close to Kidd's armour as I could make it.

Re: Mission 4: Abandon Hope…

Copycat spurs into actions, shooting out with a blood tendril and catching Masstress in the chest, knocking her aside. She doesn't stop there, though - the gravity around Masstress' body starts to greatly increase, threatening to kill her with her own power.

Re: Mission 4: Abandon Hope…

I walked forwards and tried to slam my armoured fist into Copycat's chest.

Re: Mission 4: Abandon Hope…

Nephy and Kelly's combined attacks manage to knock Copycat back, but she recoils quickly - and screams, Blind's power to hit them all at high pitch.

"Damn it!" Wildfire manages to get off one shot with her handgun, clipping Copycat in the shoulder, but not stopping the skull-splitting sound.

Meanwhile, Jesse is successful and in decreasing the gravity.

Nephy fires a large glob of blood down her throat, trying to stop the noise.

Re: Mission 4: Abandon Hope…
Post by Almond "Current" Quimby on Feb 28, 2007, 1:46pm

Ghhh, I cringe slightly from the attack, and hold my hands to my ears.

Well, obviously, an electric bolt won't do much here. If she'd copying my abilities, then she's already immune to it. Bleh, doesn't matter.
I raise my arms. It looks cool, but no time to think of that. I concentrate, and grasp an area of molecules behind Copycat - at least several cubic feets' worth - and charge them up electrically. This construct isn't much more than a big, invisible blob, but it doesn't matter. I push it together so it's firm, and pull it towards Copycat. If it connects, it'll approximately feel like a heavy barrel hitting her in the back of her head…

Re: Mission 4: Abandon Hope…
Post by Squirrel Girl on Feb 28, 2007, 1:51pm

Blind and Nephy's efforts manage to cut off her sonic attack. She stumbles back, choking on the blood, and Almond's attack comes next, knocking her flat on her chest. She looks up and stares at Almond with his own face, livid.

A flash of light emanates from her body - blinding - and flash of electricity follows right after it - stunning. Searing pain shoots through everyone on the field, as the power starts surging in their bodies.

Re: Mission 4: Abandon Hope…
Post by Pester / Freaktada on Feb 28, 2007, 1:54pm

Post by Siamko "Blind" Vasiliev on Feb 28, 2007, 1:57pm

Blind drops to one knee, grimacing.

"Oh, clever girl."

He begins rotating his right hand, intending to rapidly flip Copycat's perspective and hopefully throw her off balance.

Re: Mission 4: Abandon Hope…
Post by Squirrel Girl on Feb 28, 2007, 2:00pm

Current's much better at the electricity control, and manages to keep his teammates from being barbecued.

Blind's perception switches throws Copycat for a loop, and Masstress' nipple pull drags Copycat to the ground, face first. She tries to get up, but is unsuccessful, and resorts to squirming on the ground, writhing, mumbling in incoherent babble.

"Not everyone here's sad."

The group teleports once again, finding themselves on the third platform, facing off with their third opponent. "Meet Pretty Persuasions."

"Heidi here didn't need much coaxing at all; I'd say we get along rather well." Pretty Persuasions nods, stretching her whip. "I found her at a bar in Los Angeles, and found out we had some similar interests. She was anxious to meet you all."

"Indeed I was." She smiles and steps forward, high heels clicking as she goes. "Let's get acquainted, shall we."

The men in the group - and the women, but to a lesser extent - feels a sort of lust come over them; wild, passionate, fierce, and with Pretty Persuasion's at the center of it. "You don't really want to fight me, do you, boys?" She points at the women of the group. "Take them out, will you? Then we can get some quality time."

Back at the Mansion…

Hank McCoy, despite being a man of science, was never under any illusions about the limits of logic. Through his time with the X-Men and Avengers, he’d seen many things that he would normally have labeled as ‘scientifically impossible’. He was even used to the dead coming back to life, in one form or another. Quite used to it, yes.

But the dead usually waited a little while before they came back, and they were usually good enough to inform people on their return. As Beast stares wide-eyed at the table where Kidd’s body is supposed to be, he can’t help but feel that’s not the case here…

Re: Mission 4: Abandon Hope…
Post by Siamko "Blind" Vasiliev on Feb 28, 2007, 2:19pm

"Hm?"

Blind was never very big on lustful thoughts. Far too consumed in his constant research. But now he had a sudden urge to make Masstress walk over a cliff, to appease the young lady who had just appeared.

He shrugs, then tries to do so.

Re: Mission 4: Abandon Hope…

I turned to Jesse and formed a set of Kidd's armour around her, Nephy, Wild, and any other girl that was around.

Almond's shocks hit all the girls in the group, giving them a nasty reminder of Copycat. Pretty Persuasion's manages to dodge around Kelly's attack and lashes out with her whip, wrapping it around Kelly's neck and yanking her to the ground, raw energy coursing through her body.

Meanwhile, Blind's assault on Masstress makes the poor girl mystified, and she starts to stumble towards the edge of the arena.

Fine….

Almond's attack hurts, but it's not quite as bad as Copycats, no doubt due to him not trying to kill us. Gritting her teeth, Nephy sends a blade straight for Pretty's arm.

Re: Mission 4: Abandon Hope…

Before Pretty can respond to Current's advances, Nephy's blood blade shoots into her arm. She steps back, grasping the wound. "You want me to make a man out of you?" She looks at Current with a wild grin. "Kill that bitch, and I'm all yours."

I gritted my teeth and force the convulsions to stop.

I glanced at Nephy and armoured her again.

Re: Mission 4: Abandon Hope…
Post by Squirrel Girl on Feb 28, 2007, 2:32pm

Kelly manages to rip the whip away - but it simply dissipates, and Pretty makes a new one. They're just made of energy.

Casey manages to make the bubble and starts to suffocate Almond, but Pretty isn't happy. "You idiot, stop! Fight for me, not against each other!"

Re: Mission 4: Abandon Hope…
Post by Almond "Current" Quimby on Feb 28, 2007, 2:32pm

I give the lady my best smile.
"I'll be right back!" I say, and turn towards Nephy. What was it about her again? Don't recall.

"My precious oxygen!" I try to yell. It comes off as meager gasps.

Re: Mission 4: Abandon Hope…

Wildfire manages to push Masstress out of the way before she can take a walk off the cliff. "Don't move. Your mind's being tampered with and your perception is lost. Stay here."

Kelly knocks Pretty down and the two start to wrestle about. Pretty's got the advantage of simply being a bigger woman, though, and she manage to pin Star down.

Nephy is encased in the air, rapidly losing her breath.

« So my attack fizzled when I couldn't get any air? »

Nephy knows she doesn't have much time. While she can survive without air slightly longer then a normal person, it's not nearly enough. Wrapping her hands in blood, she begins pounding on the solid air.

Re: Mission 4: Abandon Hope…
Post by Squirrel Girl on Feb 28, 2007, 2:56pm

[Oh, sorry.]

The blood hammer hits Almond in the head, knocks him down, stuns him pretty bad.

Meanwhile, Pretty Persuasion's is blinded by the light…wrapped up like a douche, another roller in the night…and gets off of a Star, screaming and stumbling back. Wildfire takes this opportunity to wrap a whip of her own around Persuasion's neck, and yanks her into a hard boot in the face.

She falls, unconscious. "Three down." Wildfire untangles the whip, lets it revert back to light. "Does anyone notice a pattern?"

Torrance, bleary eyed and still in her Batman pajama bottoms and The Smiths tanktop from sleep, found herself drawn by a familiar energy, whispering in her mind.

Entering the hall, she found Rapt in a hurry, and followed in his wake.

"Fuck," she addressed the portal, then fell in.

The group is teleported to the next level and instantly find themselves surrounded in flame, a whirling vortex of fire circling the platform. At the center of the platform, Sunfire stands. He doesn't look happy to see them. At all.

He starts yelling at them in Japanese, and Erebus kindly translates. "In a nutshell, he's not too happy about how you all killed Kidd. I tried to telling him how he was misled on that, but he just wouldn't listen. I'm sure you'll be able to talk him down, though."

Sunfire disperses the shield with a wave of his hand and a burst of energy, and starts to ramble in Japanese again.

"Wildfire?" Emma looks her way. "Translation, please."

"In a nutshell, he wants to kill us." Her eyes widen as Sunfire starts to hit his stride. "And do a few things to us that I won't repeat."

Sunfire collaborates this by throwing out of a spread of fireballs.

Re: Mission 4: Abandon Hope…
Post by Squirrel Girl on Feb 28, 2007, 5:31pm

[I actually did try saying it three times fast. Made it to two.]

While Sunfire doesn't need air for his powers, he does need it to breathe; he's still not slowing much, but he's drops to the ground with heavy breath. He barely has enough time to dodge out of the succubus way, and Torrance's blast hits him dead in the back, knocking him a few feet away. He gets up fast, though, and blasts the succubus to pieces one moment and aims for Torrance the next.

Sunfire is, as they say, screwed.

Meghan hits him from the back, Current hits him in the heart,Torrance's hydra really knocks the crap out of him, and Wildfire shoots him in the leg. He goes down, and he doesn't get up.

Wildfire trains her gun on Fusion the next moment, but he catches her at the last second.

"Not happening."

The gun misfires, breaks apart, and she's barely able to drop it in time. It falls on the ground in pieces, then turns back to light and fades. "That…doesn't make any sense…"

Sunfire goes down.

"…Nevermind."

Fusion still doesn't slow down, and he turns invisible, to boot. The next second, Masstress is hit with five quick punches to the chest. "You…actually think you can stop me, girl?" Fusion's voice is sound really strained now.

Kelly can't put the shield around what she can't see, so she misses. Rapt focuses and his trick works, but he notices something odd - the Fusion he sees with his TK isn't moving nearly as fast as the Fusion he saw with his eyes.

The pebbles break away harmlessly, too, as does Torrance's claymore. Oddly enough, the muzzle around Torrance's face doesn't disappear, even though you think it would with her powers. It's like it's not Darkforce at all, even though that's what it's clearly supposed to be.

Being lighter, Rapt nods to Masstress, and makes a flying dive at Fusion, calling out to her "Cancel whatever you did, so I hit harder!"

While Rapt does his dive bomb, I do him one better and give him a bunch of extra mass.

"Alright… I don't do this much, but this jagoff's leavin' me no choice…"

While Rapt does his thing, I weigh down Fusion's nuts. A lot.

Current finds that Fusion's field is nowhere near as big as it should be for a Hulk-sized being.

«What about what Kelly did, Last?»

«Sorry, but having a character sit around and sulk while her teammates get their asses kicked is a far stronger action than having her fight alongside them. It sends a REALLY strong message when somebody thinks a teammate is willing to let them die…

[Come on guys, chill. I'm not too happy with Kelly's actions, either, but she'll likely snap out of it. Eventually. It's nothing to get a fuss over.]

Hulk-Fusion is just about to pound Wildfire to dust, when he lets the girliest, shrillest shriek anyone's ever heard - Masstress' power has taken effect. He falls to his knees, grasping 'that' area.

((….Masstress and Rapt have nice power synergy. Lighten the person being striked, increase the striker, you've got a really nasty hit.))

Rapt, with his extra mass, attempts to slam right into the center of Fusion's gravity center, to topple him.

Jesse has a tendancy to not be the brightest bulb on the tree, so she doesn't quite understand what Current was implying. So she just has fun adding and subtracting inordinate amounts of mass from Fusion's genitals.

Re: Mission 4: Abandon Hope…

Theatrics. I've always been fond of theatrics. It was how I made my first appearance to the Hellions. Sadly, Wildfire and Blind were the only ones around to receive me back then. Pleasantly, there is a much more lively crowd around this time. Sadly, I don't quite think that they're going to appreciate it. Though that's understandable, all things considered. No matter though. I intend to be amused enough for the lot of us.

Yet another platform lowers from the endless abyss above the group. Slowly, enough to build apprehension, but not too slowly. They've waited all day after all. It lowers and eventually stops off to the side of much more massive platform on which the assembled group stands. There's a stage. The curtain is closed.

"Ladies. Gentlemen. Children of all ages. Welcome to the greatest show on Earth. Or off Earth for that matter."

I step out from behind the curtain, garbed in my typical cloak but with a top hat for effect. Plus, I like top hats.

"You could be anywhere in the world right now. But you're here with me. What a boneheaded move that was."

A quick grin.

"For those assembled that have not yet met me, my name is Erebus."

The second part is not spoken aloud - I make a point of not moving my mouth - but instead booms from every direction simultaneously.

I will be your God this evening.

"But what sort of host would I be to claim to be a god without presenting any sort of miracle to back up the claim. But which one? Water to wine? Walking on water? Bread from stones? So mundane. My personal favorite…"

The curtains open rapidly and violently. Kidd stands in the center of the stage, a blank look in her eyes. She's waving.

"was the ressurection."

Re: Mission 4: Abandon Hope…
Post by Kelly Alecia "Astraea" Lisa on Feb 28, 2007, 7:18pm

Ah. Oh, god… I did it.
No, forget it right now.
Can't feel here.
Can't feel.

"Should have left Sunfire alone… just for a few moments," I said under my breath.

I can’t help but feel.
No. Just a little longer.
Not in here.

I looked around expectantly, waiting for whatever would come next.

And then I heard Erebus and played witness to his theatrics.

"Erebus, Erebus… what are you doing? Why are you doing this?" I asked quietly, almost inaudibly.

Kidd. Christ.

“Kidd…” I stared at her for a moment before running to her and latching onto her, dissipating the armour just a second before the hug.

“They all said that you were gone and that it was for good and that you weren’t coming back, ever. But I told them that they were wrong and that you’re Kidd Taki and that you can do anything and that this wouldn’t even slow you down and that you’d be back and you’d be back soon and I was right, I was right, I was right! I knew it, I knew you weren’t gone and that you’d be back! You’re invincible and nothing can happen to you, not ever, not ever! You can do anything, and I know it and I knew it and I knew you wouldn’t leave me alone for long! I knew you wouldn’t stay gone and that you’d come back because you can- you’re Kidd! Thank you, Kidd, thank you, thank you, thank you!”

Re: Mission 4: Abandon Hope…
Post by Squirrel Girl on Feb 28, 2007, 7:19pm

"Minigun."

As the weapon settles into my hand and weighs me down, I don't expect to actually hurt Erebus with it. There was a time that maybe - just maybe - I would have been able to defeat him. At my greatest power. Arguably. But that time has long passed.

However, I am a soldier. I'll stick to that creed, because while it may mean that I don't hesitate to kill, it also means that I don't hesitate to act when the time comes. No matter how futile the gesture, no matter how powerful the enemy…if my comrades engage, I will engage with them.

I know Erebus is strong. I know Kidd is strong, too. But I know that's not the real Kidd before us. And I also know that he'll pay for this insult.

"Tsk. Down girl. You'll injure somebody's eardrums." A black mass appears over Meghan's face, so that she can't talk. Or breathe, but whatever.

I look to Kelly embracing Kidd. It's cute. Really. I doubt she even notices how cold the body is. Adrenaline high, perhaps. Pity I never brought a camera though - this picture perfect moment is over.

I exert my will on Kidd's body and a flash of energy - not sure which kind… oh the possibilities this body has - blows Kelly off the stage and back towards her friends. Violently.

"I suppose that it's time for the games to begin."
