Hell to Pay [Pre-Mission #23]
Post by Meisha "Muse" Aisha on Sept 18, 2007, 2:45pm

Pete Wisdom lingers in the Wreck Room, a newspaper page in hand, his eyes flitting to it every few minutes; there's a picture of Torrance on it and a picture of Wildfire on it too, both of them circled and random lines in the passages underlined.

"Magneto. Magneto. When the bloody hell will these kids start making sense? I swear, the world's going t'the devil all giftwrapped and everything."

Nathaniel walks in, sees Pete, mutters something under his breath, and walks back out.

"Walkin' back out's just fine, Galahad, but see to it that someone else comes by, yeah?" Wisdom tells him without glancing up from the newspaper page.

"Excuse me."

I tap him from behind.

"You really shoulden't be here. Someone might get mad and attack. You're not a member of Generation-X, you know."

"I can come an' go as I please, girlie; for all intents and purposes, I'm your boss, understand? Not a member… pfft. You're damn right I'm not, if this is what happens with that line of thinking," he shakes the newspaper says. "What in the bloody depths of the nine gates of hell are you people thinking?"

He shakes his head and straightens up, taking the cigarette out from behind his ear and lighting it with the end of his finger.

"Here on business, actually. Where's the rest of your motley crew?"

"Around.

… Since when were you our boss again?"

Re: Hell to Pay [Pre-Mission #23]
Post by Meisha "Muse" Aisha on Sept 18, 2007, 3:57pm

"Since someone decided to hoodwink us in that ring business. Or when you lot screwed up again. Or when none of your bintish friends decided to listen when I was dealin' with Cassidy," he responds, shrugging casually, taking a pull from the cigarette.

"Either way, this isn't so much official business as something in our mutual interests. You'll want t'do this one, else you're not worthy to call yourself a mutant."

Re: Hell to Pay [Pre-Mission #23]
Post by Lisa "Nephy" Nephrahim on Sept 18, 2007, 4:11pm

"You're being rude again. You're not the boss of us, Headmaster Cassidy is."

I'm being a bit harsh to cover up the shame of that ring buisness.

"'fraid you're wrong there, girlie. I'm as much a boss of you as anyone could hope to be." He glances at the newspaper page again and starts tapping his foot impatiently.

"When the bloody hell are the rest of you miscreants gonna get here…?"

He looks forwards at nothing in particular for a moment, and then snaps his head to the side to face her.

"Ah. That's a good point. You lot just always seem to be lying around. You have one of those comm. sets, right? Buzz 'em up."

Sara quietly walks in to see what the ruckus is about, notices Pete and goes over and kicks him in the shin before quickly moving behind Nephy.

Re: Hell to Pay [Pre-Mission #23]
Post by Meisha "Muse" Aisha on Sept 19, 2007, 3:30pm

He hops up, standing straight.

"Ow, you bloody- now look here, you little rugrat, you're not gonna treat me like that, and I'm not gonna take you treating me like that. Don't. Do it again, got it?"

He slouches against the wall again, turning his head to the side to exhale the smoke.

"Suppose there's enough of your lot to start talking; you can share the love with the rest of your little tots later."

He places the newspaper page down again, casting one more incredulous glance in its direction.

"S.H.I.E.L.D. are being a right pain again, as usual, but this business is under the radar- for both of us. They don't want anyone knowing about it, and I don't want anyone knowing about this mission, Black Air included. They've got a satellite up, something that's intended to strip all unregistered mutants of their powers."

He points at Lisa and Sara with his lit cigarette before pulling it back to himself.

"I want you lot to bring it crashing down 'round their pretty little ears."

Sara shakes her head furiously and looks for something to write on, wanting to get it across that being out of America makes American issues not their problem, side choosing sucks

Re: Hell to Pay [Pre-Mission #23]
Post by Meisha "Muse" Aisha on Sept 19, 2007, 5:11pm

"Americans. Your American friends. Those little unregistered ones flitting around at the mansions and running about on that bus? There's an eye in the sky watching them. Wants to rob them of their powers, it does."

He places a hand on his chest, pushing himself off of the wall.

"Me, I find that an offence to any mutant, and being a mutant myself, I want to see that bloody satellite fall burning from the sky. And you're going to do it."

And… there's probably a piece of paper and pen somewhere nearby.

Re: Hell to Pay [Pre-Mission #23]
Post by Sara "Radical Dreamer" Lincoln on Sept 19, 2007, 5:18pm

Sara opens her mouth to speak, not having found something to write with, and delivers a long and philisophical argument for why he's wrong and why they should be left to their own as opposed to being used as weapons against their friends.

Of course, being mute, it's just a lot of lip flapping

"Out foul sore throat demon! The power of Christ compels you! The power of Christ compels you! The power of Christ-"

He looks at the newspaper.

"No, can't say I have read that. Is it interesting? Prince Harry's not dressed up like a Nazi again, is he? I tell you, if he was my kid…"

He turns back to a red faced Sara. He chuckles.

"Haha… oh, right, my mind wanders sometimes… sorry. -compels you!"

"Little more interesting than that."

Wisdom glances at Sara.

"You know giving her the voice back isn't an improvement, right?"

He hands Max the page.

"It's an example of exactly what's wrong with you lot. You drive the only person with the balls to do anything out, straight into that fascist's hands. Then right the next bloody moment, your mighty leader wakes up and sells out to SHIELD."

Sighing, he drops the cigarette and stamps it out.

"And at the same time, we don't appreciate being forced to do jobs by Black Air again just because we lied about where we put the ring of power. But fine, we'll do it anyways. Or most to all of us will."

Wisdom's expression darkens into a scowl and his voice drops.

"What you children don't seem to understand is that I own you. Until such a point where it is no longer profitable for me to own you, that is. There are two ways that you can go through this. You can sit down, you can shut your bloody mouths and listen up, and everything'll be roses. The other path will leave me having to get a bit creative, and figure out a way to deal with you lot. Stay on the side when you're just a mild annoyance; don't flit over to the one where you're right and truly pissing me off."

"You don't own us, Mister Wisdom. At least, you don't own me. If you simply asked I would have gladly agreed to do this. In fact, I still will. But right after you leave I'm going to find Nathaniel and make sure you never get within ten feet of this base again."

"Hh."

His hand flares up and goes through the wall with a grunt.

"You and yours can tinker as much as you want, but it'll come to nothing. You, more than anyone, fall under my jurisdiction, li'l bit. All of you; just because you have some semblance of independence here, just because you've got some achievements beneath your belt doesn't make you the X-men, and it doesn't mean you'll get the same respect as the X-men, or that you'll be treated the same. You'll not even get an inkling of the same respect. Any of you think that you're the dog's bollocks, you need a harsh slap down to reality.

"Hubris. You've got too bloody much of it."

He pulls his hand back, the knives half formed on it dissipating.

"This has nothing to do with Hubris. It has to do with you here, alone, surronded by A Wizard, The strongest member of Gen-X, a vampire, her boyfriend, and I'm sure I could get Sara in here. We know the sons were your old unit you would send, and they're gone. You might be working on another one, but it can't be that far along if you still need to blackmail us. And worst comes to worst, the Mantion IS a phone call away, and I doubt our proffesors would aprove of these tactics.

We're not the ones with Hubris. You are. We aren't claiming to control you."

"You're not only idiots, you're naïve idiots. A call to the mansion, and who's in charge there? Scott bloody Summers, I'm assuming. Him and Jean Grey, with the Professor gone."

His gaze flits from each of them, and then settles on Lisa with a slightly pitying look.

"You really don't have any damn clue how these things work, do you? You think your magic's going to help you? Being a vampire? You kids are in dire need of an education. Ask your teachers; maybe they'll teach you something useful for once."

"Arguing with you is a waste of time. I'm just going to send the mansion an E-mail. You can go over to the states and start trying to get them to do your dirty work if you want. Or maybe S.H.I.E.L.D. It might help us get info for taking out this thing anyway."

I turn around and leave.

"That girl's a pain. And she needs to learn the way things go; she seems to be thinking being a vampire puts her places, makes her anything of note. Pfft." He takes out his last cigarette and points it in Lisa's direction before turning to Maxwell. "Diplomacy's not my strong suit. You can do this willingly, mate, or otherwise. I'd rather it be willingly, which is why I'm not going to push anyone who chooses to stay behind into doing it. 'sides, necessitating 'otherwise' just shows what a selfish tosser anyone bringing that to front would be." He pushes off of the wall.

"Generation X."

Wisdom straightens up again, lighting the cigarette with the end of his finger.

"You're all of you bloody bints, the whole lot; there's no doubt about that, so I'm not going to lie here. But there's those of you who're bints with summat of a bit of sense. You lot; when next you hear from me, assemble by the transportation the Institute has supplied you with and await instructions. Those of you who're the stupid kind of bint, you can consider every single meaning of the term 'living hell' 'til I come back next."

He takes a drag from the cigarette and exhales the smoke slowly to the side.

"A fair number of you need t'learn humility; an' trust me, you will. It'd be smart of you to not bring a teacher onto yourself, though."

Wisdom picks up his newspaper page, folds it and places it on the inside of his jacket pocket, and walks out of the room.

Well that didn't work out well.

His rationality was this, working for Pete Wisdom on a righteous cause, good, working for him and possibly lowering the times they go on a more shadier mission. Bonus. At least that was what he was trying to achieve. But you know Wisdom just seemed like a…
