Generation X #14 - Trains, Planes and Automatics

US: $2.99

Gen-X gets sent to "liberate" some dangerous Church of Humanity supplies, and things go horribly wrong. We know, we're just as shocked as you! Guest starring an old friend.

«Alright, I'll go ahead and start. Stragglers can jump in when they get here.»

Boomer's standing in front of a big, digital "whitescreen", and looking over a piece of paper. "Okay, kids, we've got a situation. Just got some info from the home office. Looks like the Church of Humanity is up to no good again." The whiteboard shifts to show a small down in a ravine, with train tracks leading into it.

"This is the town of Dresnya in Krakozhia. A train carrying food and supplies is coming in a few hours, only the Church is expecting a few little extras: a crate full of fully-auto weapons, and several canisters of G-54, a derivative of Sarin gas that only effects the X-Gene. Obviously, that is bad, bad news for us." She blows a bubble with her gum, pops it, and continues.

"But it gets worse. Apparently, my lovely friends from the Mutant Liberation Front have gotten wind of it as well, and they're planning a big smash 'em up. That means all the food and supplies for the people in that town will be blown up with the train, as well as the Church's nastyness. So here's the plan: swoop in, grab the evil stuff, and stop the MLF from destroying the train. Questions? Make 'em fast."

A similar vehicle to yours speeds past you. Wildfire catches a glimpse of a rather odd assortment of people: a pale guy with a scythe, a man with four arms, a woman covered head to toe in orange armor, and the others are just blurs.

The other transport pulls alongside the train, rapidly gaining on Car 32. The woman in orange armor (Strobe) takes to the air after the pale guy (Reaper) points toward the Gen-X craft. She starts firing heat blasts that just barely miss the hovercraft.

Strobe hits the ground hard, but she sends out a big blast of aimed at everyone in the vehicle. She bounces a few times and rolls to a stop.

Nathaniel manuevers the hovercraft to the otherside of the train, and tries to use it as cover as he speeds it closer to car 32.

Re: Generation X #14 - Trains, Planes and Automati
Post by Armando "Army" Rosewell on Jun 19, 2007, 12:27am

I make a mental note to seriously talk with Dillon later. And possibly hit him, if I'm in the mood.

"We're no good in the air like this, too much of a disadvantage. Take us down, inside." I stand by the edge, ready to drop in when we're close enough.

Re: Generation X #14 - Trains, Planes and Automati
Post by Cheshire on Jun 19, 2007, 12:29am

Nate's quick maneuvering gets the team out of the danger of being Kentucky Fried, but the back end of the hover-transport is seriously singed. As the craft pulls along side the other side of the train, a tearing sound is just audible over the wind and engine.

Re: Generation X #14 - Trains, Planes and Automati
Post by Dillon Drummond on Jun 19, 2007, 12:29am

Wild seems a bit pissed.

"Guess that's my queue."

I make a teleport, hoping to land on the back of their craft.

Re: Generation X #14 - Trains, Planes and Automati
Post by Cheshire on Jun 19, 2007, 12:30am

Dillon ports in directly next to Wildside. The MLF is shocked for a few seconds…well, except for Forearm, who has torn off the door to one of the cars and is climbing inside. Reaper recovers first and swings his scythe at Dillon.

Re: Generation X #14 - Trains, Planes and Automati
Post by Dillon Drummond on Jun 19, 2007, 12:32am

I don't even try to dodge the scythe, I just teleport out of fear…making sure to bring along the bottom of their craft with me.

Re: Generation X #14 - Trains, Planes and Automati
Post by Armando "Army" Rosewell on Jun 19, 2007, 12:33am

"Crap. Nathan, the cargo's under attack; Nephy, hold him off until we can all get in." Best to get her out of the air ASAP…I seem to remember her having a fear of heights.

Re: Generation X #14 - Trains, Planes and Automati
Post by Cheshire on Jun 19, 2007, 12:34am

The good news: Dillon takes the bottom of the craft!

The bad news: As he's falling to the ground, Zero jerks the wheel toward the train. The rest of the hovercraft plows through one of the train cars (not 32) and comes out the other side. The MLF hit the ground hard and are momentarily dazed. Forearm is inside the train.

Re: Generation X #14 - Trains, Planes and Automati
Post by Cheshire on Jun 19, 2007, 12:35am

No sooner does Wild speak (and the enemy craft come flying through the train in front of them) then a blur lands on the team's craft…and Wild finds herself thrown through the door and into one of the cars. Another blur, and she's lying at the feet of Tangent.

This is a surprise.

I stand up slow, no sudden movements, no reason to get her any more riled than she is by default - at least, not at the moment. "WETworks: Shotgun." I hold it at the side, ready to fire if need be. [["What are you doing here, Tangent? Joined up with another terrorist organization? Old hat."]]

["Pawns. Just wanted you, alone. For Skraeling."] Quick as lightning, she throws an odd device at Wild's WETworks system…and the shotgun disipates. Tangent smiles and draws her billyclub.

I turn back to Tangent, shaking my head. [["Skraeling was a soldier, and he died like a soldier - no regrets, nothing wrong. He would've understood that. It looks like I'm going to have to beat the lesson into you."]] I take my stance. [["When you're ready."]]

Re: Generation X #14 - Trains, Planes and Automati

Reaper topples, but grabs the side of transport. He swings the scythe at her feet, while a strange residue starts creeping up the blood fist.

Wildside smiles and throws a knife at Nathanial's face.

Re: Generation X #14 - Trains, Planes and Automati
Post by Cheshire on Jun 19, 2007, 12:54am

Sparks fly and woodchips come off the train, but alas, there's not a single overhang to be found anywhere.

Nathaniel ducks, and slams the brakes hard.

Re: Generation X #14 - Trains, Planes and Automati
Post by Armando "Army" Rosewell on Jun 19, 2007, 12:57am

She hits. Hard. I stagger away, grab my face, fight through the pain - I'm at a severe disadvantage, even without taking her superior abilities into account.

But I have my own abilities, and even though most of them are surpressed, I can still make the best of what I have. While she's close, I draw down the spit in my mouth and spew it in her face, trying to hit her with the boiling water. She stun her at best, but it gives me some time to put distance between us - if it works, I'll head towards the train's fuel room. Have an idea.

Re: Generation X #14 - Trains, Planes and Automati
Post by Cheshire on Jun 19, 2007, 12:58am

Wildside is totally unprepared and goes flying out of the transport, and lands hard on the ground at an awkward angle. One of his feet trail under the train and is…completely fucked.

Tangent's Billyclub hits Dillon as well as Wild, hard behind the ear.

She moves her head, but a few droplets of spittle land on her cheek and start smoking. She yells and seperates her club into two bladed sections, and swings one at Dillon on her way to pursue Wild.

During the conversation between Wild and Dillon, Tangent's blades strike home: one buries in Dillon's cut, and the other grazes his head. She throws him off and leaps at Wildfire.

Yeah, definitely going to hit him. If he lives.

Since being dead isn't going to do much to help Dillon, I refocus on Tangent, flipping back as she advances. She's too fast to take with space on her side, but in an enclosed space things are more even - I try to lead her back toward the bathroom area, where the aisle narrows and she'll have to attack head on.

Re: Generation X #14 - Trains, Planes and Automati

Tangent smiles, and pulls out what looks to be a gun. She fires it…and a grappling hook pierces Wild's shoulder, coming through the other side and expanding. It's attached to high tensile steel cable.

Tangent attaches it to her belt, and flips her self outside to the top of the train, tugging the grappling hook with her.

Forearm virtually ignores Dillon and tosses the crate out the door. It splits open on impact, spilling guns out onto the grass. He walks calmly over to another, much smaller crate and picks it up.

Wildfire, by virtue of being attached to her, grabs ahold of Tangent's arm. However, this sets up a golden opportunity for Tangent to inflict two large gashes on Wild, one up each thigh.

Meanwhile, the train starts to head down into the ravine (don't worry, it's still on the rails)

I jump off the train, taking Tangent along with me. If I can, I'll grab onto the side, rely on her surprise to keep her from detaching the belt and swing her in the ground, dragging her along and killing her. If I can't…

Tangent throws two heavy elbows at Wild's kidneys, her billyclub lost over the edge, but the action causes her hand to slip. She plummets over the edge, coming to a stop at the end of the cable, jerking Wild's shoulder painfully and causing the tines of the hook to dig in deeper.

Nephy brakes…almost in time. The craft slows down, but crashes into the side of the train, tearing up the walls and destroying several crates. No colision with the engine, though.

Wild plummets, hitting the top branches of an oak very hard. She gets stuck in a fork as the branches come down to the trunk. All of Wild's bones and muscles hurt, but there are no obvious (i.e. compound) fractures.

As soon as the man tazes Nephy, Adam throws his fists at them as hard as he can. They're just mean. He pops all his parts apart and has them run around the room, he's hoping he can keep them occupied until Mister Nate can beat them up.

The tear gas wakes up the handcuffed Nephy, as the officers open fire with their pistols on the demon, although a great many shots go badly astray from fear. The townspeople are screaming now and fleeing.
