Generation M #9
Post by noodles on Jan 10, 2008, 9:59pm

An alert goes off throughout the entire compound, followed by a message from Mystique over the loudspeaker:

"Everyone on a field team, get to the medical bay, now!"

It sounds like she means business.

«Start checking in. Things will begin in a few minutes.»

Re: Generation M #10

Mystique opens the door to the Intensive Care Unit and we're able to see through the open door before she closes it. Most of the staff are in there, and none of them look too happy. Colossus cracks his knuckles while Wolverine picks his teeth with a claw. Kitty Pryde stands near Colossus, kneading her fingers. Anyone who pays attention can see why they'd be worried, as Magneto lies unconscious on a bed. He's hooked up to a ventilator and a heart monitor.

Mystique addresses us with her usual intense demeanor, mixed with what seems to be a smidge of frustration.

"Magneto seems to have been infected with some kind of artificial virus. While we and the Acolytes hunt down our leads to whoever did this, you are to watch over him. Any questions?" She asks, very short and to the point.

Re: Generation M #10
Post by ixnay on Jan 10, 2008, 10:13pm

"Um, okay!"

I wish I could have found my other glove. I probably look totally unprofessional now.

"No questions from me."

Re: Generation M #10

"You say virus, I say he's just REALLY jonesing for ice cream."

Silence.

Re: Generation M #10
Post by skitch on Jan 10, 2008, 10:14pm

Dom says, "Uhm…do you reallyneed all of us to watch over him? I can pretty much do that by myself. Patients like being read to." Typical, Dom doesn't think to ask what happened.

Mystique glances at Alice. For less than half a second, her expression says "Who the hell are you?" But it goes back to normal quickly enough, before she looks at Dom.

"He was infected with a mechanical virus tailored specifically to his body. Being in this compound with all of us didn't protect him from that, so one person will not do the same. You are all to be here in case something comes to finish the job."

Mystique considers answering Dave's question, but decides against it. She nods in Kelly's direction.

"He was about to help us save magneto!"

Re: Generation M #10
Post by noodles on Jan 10, 2008, 10:53pm

The rest of the attacks pile debris on top of him. Except the gym socks, those are just uncomfortable.

A blast of Cable's own erupts from under the rubble, sending the rocks soaring off him. All of Generation M is lifted up by their ankles, and held upside down.

"KNOCK IT OFF!!!"

Cable clears his throat, a little embarrassed. Even a mind reader gets caught by surprise sometimes.

"As for why you should trust me, Magneto will die anyway. It's not like you girl scouts were keeping him alive, so you have nothing to lose."

He looks at Dom.

"I'm not Stryfe. The name is Cable. Don't mistake me for that monster."

Once everyone is inside, Cable seals up the ship. "One more thing. Don't throw up. This is going to feel pretty weird."

He pushes a series of buttons on a large console, and the outside world starts to change. At first it swirls, then it seems to grow larger and larger. Everything gets bigger and bigger, until the entire compound is incomprehensibly large. Finally, it feels like the ship starts moving. The outside environment is replaced by a massive tunnel, with walls of red.

"We're now inside Magneto's body."

The crab lets loose a giant crab scream, and kicks at Dave. It sends him sliding around fifteen feet. Aside from a couple of drag burns, he's unharmed.

We can see the red blood cells marching past us, single file. They're about our size. They don't look a healthy red, and would seem extremely tired if they had facial features. They don't even notice us.

Kelly's blast puts a sizable dent into the crab's chestplate, sending it reeling. It locks onto her, aims, and it's claw fires toward her. It locks around her waist, and starts squeezing.

Wreck is able to walk through most of the other one, however, and it falls over into a mess.

As Wreck takes out one of the robots, the red blood cells in the immediate vicinity seem to liven up slightly.

"Yes. Don't-" Cable is cut off by a massive tendril across his face, he draws his gun and blasts it.

"Yes, yes I do." He doesn't particularly seem very interested in anything else that's going on, and is just humoring Dave. But he does seem honest, so it's easy to assume he does have wireless.

—-
Nephy's little orcs start to run away at first… But one stands. It turns and looks at Nephy for a moment… And then runs toward the wave of enemies. One more sees his example, and charges after the first. Then another, and another. Finally, the entire wave of red orc blood cells is charging into battle with the wave of machines, fighting along with our own team.

—-

Dom's blasts are taking out groups of five and ten machines at a time, until one of the tendrils wraps around his leg. It whips him around in a circle, and slams him on the "Floor," knocking the wind out of him.

—-

Quote:"Who is this guy, and can I kick his ass?"

"Go ahead!"

Cable shouts from under a pile of pissed off machines.

—-

Fitzroy laughs as he raises a gauntlet on his left arm, which seems to absorb Dom's blast.

"Oh, so they sent children. That's good. I wonder how long you survive in the new timeline."
