Gen M #14: Tales From the World of Tomorrow

«Getting some of the setup out of the way, the real action will be starting around 8:30. Feel free to check in.»

Trevor Fitzroy, everyone's least favorite green haired maniac, finally comes back into the room. As he activates a console to his side, a large viewscreen activates behind him. On the screen is the charred, radioactive remains of Genosha.

"Anyone recognize this?"

« I might disapear. Rough day, and this mission is a bit early for me. »

"Stop that."

"Genosha."

"Very good," he says. "Now I bet you all would like to fix it back to the way it was, wouldn't you?" He's talking to the team like he's talking to children.

He punches up some buttons on the console. A bright flash appears and recedes from the screen, as three separate mushroom clouds appear on the island. The three clouds shrink, and the city appears to reform on the screen. The city of Genosha is bright and clear in the balmy sun.

"Would you like to keep it that way?"

"You speak of time-travel?"

Re: Gen M #14: Tales From the World of Tomorrow
Post by noodles on Feb 21, 2008, 8:23pm

"Yes. A way for you to fix your little home, and at the same time, repair damage to my timeline. Specifically, keeping somebody alive that I am fond of, from my own era."

"Ain't we already mucked around with time enough?" Joe asks

"You speak of sin. How can you ask us to partake in this?"

"I'm not asking you to do anything. If you two gentlemen believe your little ethics are worth more than the lives of…"

He checks his console.

"Sixty-three million people, according to this. If you believe your ethics are worth more than the lives of sixty-three million people, I suppose that's your business."

"I never said I wasn't in, I was just…seems like everytime somethin' happens with time travel, it's bad. But I wanna save them people."

"Wouldn't this mean displacing ourselves?"

Re: Gen M #14: Tales From the World of Tomorrow
Post by deia on Feb 21, 2008, 8:35pm

"Hmph. Didn't you have a mad-time-traveling wanna-be demagogue on your team before I joined Joseph? How did his antics wind up in the end?"

Re: Gen M #14: Tales From the World of Tomorrow

"Not good."

"Good choice, Mister Olsen. If only everyone had as much sense as you. And there would be no ill effects to your adventure, Mister…" Another glance at the console. "…Mister Khan. I have brought us to an hour before the bombs destroy Genosha. As long as you don't give your past self a high-five, the timeline will be alright."

Re: Gen M #14: Tales From the World of Tomorrow
Post by hellfireknight on Feb 21, 2008, 8:38pm

"Yet there will still be two of us. So what do you get out of this?"

Re: Gen M #14: Tales From the World of Tomorrow

"As you all know by now, I do not reside in this time. I am from the future. There are certain people in my time that would love to see certain people from your time dead. This would free up certain circumstances for them. But that's not what I have a problem with.

"One of the people who died in the destruction of Genosha is somebody from my time. Somebody I'm very… Fond of. A friend of mine, let's say. In stopping Genosha from exploding, you will be saving him, along with all those millions of people. That is what I get out of it."

Re: Gen M #14: Tales From the World of Tomorrow
Post by cheshire on Feb 21, 2008, 8:43pm

"So when do we leave? And what's yer friend's name, so we make sure they make it?"

Re: Gen M #14: Tales From the World of Tomorrow
Post by deia on Feb 21, 2008, 8:45pm

"Why should we do anything to benefit you or people from your time?"

Re: Gen M #14: Tales From the World of Tomorrow
Post by hellfireknight on Feb 21, 2008, 8:46pm

"Seems like any good time traveller would have displaced themselves so they wouldn't haft to worry about this." All these different timelines…we haft to be shreading the timeline…making it worse… He draws his sword,Wanda…, his eyes close. "I'm in, but if there is a double cross you will have no place to hide."

"We had some…" "Unpleasant vistors the last time that we mucked with the time stream…" One Nadia starts and the other finishes, though neither of them look very hesitant about 'mucking' with the timestream a second time.

"His name is… Trevor Fitzroy. It is apparently my self from years in the future who commits this act. I don't know why… I don't know anything about it really, except that I die in the blast. And that doesn't seem like something I'd do willingly."

At Khan's threats, he waves his hand dismissively.

"Yes, yes, you're all wonderfully intimidating, quaking in my boots, etcetera etcetera."

"That."

Wreck glances off.

"….although, it's not like they can make us any MORE screwed than we are already."

"So you'd all rather just leave Genosha a smoking crater?"

Re: Gen M #14: Tales From the World of Tomorrow
Post by deathchicken on Feb 21, 2008, 9:02pm

"It's not that. More that from prior experience, even if we save Genosha, some cosmic cockroach will come along and go ha ha, they're dead anyway and now we're gonna make you eat cake."

"Hold up, you do this?" She nearly asks one of those stupid kneejerk reaction questions like "Why?" but he just said that it was his future iteration and that he doesn't understand why he would have done it. There's also the desire to do something violent to him but… Kind of need his help…

We're so totally going to have to deal with the Warders again…

"I'm in."

Re: Gen M #14: Tales From the World of Tomorrow
Post by deathchicken on Feb 21, 2008, 9:07pm

"I…guess I'm in too."

All the Warders can REALLY do is tack more time onto the sentence. And time with them is better than time in the burning depths.

"Good! Kids are the future, I always say."

Fitzroy chuckles at his own awful joke.

"Well, here's what we know. Three bombs go off. We saw where each of them originate from. So you'll need to split up and take them out seperately."

He taps up a map on the big screen, and it shows:

Genosha Zoo

The Genoshan Mountain Range

The Mutits Gentlemans' Club

"You've got… Ten minutes to choose where you'll go, then I'll drop you off. I'd recommend splitting up and going to at least two of them at a time, and I'll take the last one."

Re: Gen M #14: Tales From the World of Tomorrow
Post by cheshire on Feb 21, 2008, 9:09pm

"I'll go to the mountains."

«Also, Mutits is the single greatest name for a location in this game.»
