Flare vs. Coyote
Post by Marisol Morales on Aug 5, 2007, 12:28pm

Flare makes his way topside, to the COBRA-1's landing deck. Various aircraft are scattered about, and it's a lovely day.

"Oh thank fucking god!"

Jake stumbles to the surface and falls to the ground, damn near kissing it as the light hits him. After all the time spent locked up, with just the little bulbs, this is a refresher. After all the blood lost, the missing arm, he's finally feeling some semblance of peace as his body charges hungrily.

"Excuse me." I make my way up to the deck, oozing through the panels of the floor and taking shape behind him - Jake, I think his name is. Corona's counter. "I'll have to ask you to return to your cell, please."

Re: Flare vs. Coyote

Jake rolls over and starts glowing

"Who the fuck?"

Wait, that looks like…."

"Army"

Those fucking idiots, they sent their version of the one guy I wouldn't mind killing.

Re: Flare vs. Coyote

"My name isn't Army, it's Coyote. I am the being created after Army died and was resurrected by Mistress Anima. As I understand the story, anyway." I start to walk his way. "I'll ask again: return to your cell. I do not wish to harm you."

Re: Flare vs. Coyote

He's a corpse? No soul? Not alive? This is karma

"Same symbiote?"

Jake stands up and rips off what's left of the upper body section of his uniform, glowing more and more brightly, his left hand especially as he directs the power that he would normally use for both arms into it

Re: Flare vs. Coyote
Post by Marisol Morales on Aug 6, 2007, 1:08am

"I am both and neither." I form my hand into a club, stopping a few feet away from him - his glow worries me, but I'll deal with it when the time comes. "This is my final warning."

Re: Flare vs. Coyote
Post by Jake "Flare" Lange on Aug 6, 2007, 1:12am

"You picked the wrong fucking guy to mess with asshole."

Jake throws his left arm forward and unleashes a giant blast straight at Coyote

Re: Flare vs. Coyote
Post by Marisol Morales on Aug 6, 2007, 1:16am

I split my body straight down the middle, letting the blast pass through me, unharmed - lucky, too; that could've been disastrous. I will have to be prudent her.

I reform quick, stretch out my arm to club him in the head as I leap back, putting more space between us.

Re: Flare vs. Coyote
Post by Jake "Flare" Lange on Aug 6, 2007, 1:33am

Jake fully powers up, glowing brightly, light sparking off of the stump of his shoulder, a shield forming in front of him and taking the shot from the club

"New tricks, I bet there's the same old weakness."

He starts unleashing multiple blasts simultaneously, hoping that at least one will make contact. Anything to buy time while he thinks up a plan.

Re: Flare vs. Coyote
Post by Marisol Morales on Aug 6, 2007, 1:38am

Too many to form around, far too many - I try, irregardless, but it doesn't fully work, and I get hit by a few blasts.

I scream. Linda and I both scream.

I melt into the ground for relief, shifting under the plating of each step he takes…he can take advantage of my weakness, sure, but only so long as he can see me. I try to attack him from under the grating. I send out spikes from the floor as I pass beneath his feet; poking him, trying to impale him from below.

Re: Flare vs. Coyote
Post by Jake "Flare" Lange on Aug 6, 2007, 1:41am

"UHN!"

Jake shoots up as he feels something hit his foot, he's still not maxed out.

Sneaky bastard…coming up from down there. I can't see him, so I can't blast him. Let me see here, maybe something wide arcing, low intensity….flashbang.

He snaps his fingers and a light grenade pops from his fingers, hitting the ground and bursting, spreading a bright blinding light in a wide radius.

Re: Flare vs. Coyote
Post by Marisol Morales on Aug 6, 2007, 1:47am

I am starting to detest Jake.

I shriek again as he lights up my body; it's all I can do to keep from attacking trying to retreat - but I have a mission. I must bring him back. No question.

So, focus.

I rise up from beneat him, literally; I morph my body out of the ground reform it around him, covering him, trying smother him inside my form.

Re: Flare vs. Coyote
Post by Jake "Flare" Lange on Aug 6, 2007, 1:50am

"What the…?"

He braces himself as he's overtaken, the darkness enveloping him.

No more…no more….

In a panic he expels as much energy as he can outwards, through his glow, trying to become the light grenade

Re: Flare vs. Coyote
Post by Marisol Morales on Aug 6, 2007, 2:13am

The light scatters my form all over the deck gives me unbearable pain - but I am dead. He can give me pain, yes, but there's only one being that can truly kill me. It is not him.

I slowly begin to reform, my pieces sliding together, bunching up.

Re: Flare vs. Coyote
Post by Jake "Flare" Lange on Aug 6, 2007, 2:34am

Jake is floating there catching his breath, recharging by the second. That took a lot out of him, but he doesn't expect it over that easily. Seeing the gathering pieces of Coyote, he starts firing wrecklessly into the mess, hoping to keep him scattered until he can come up with a better idea

Re: Flare vs. Coyote
Post by Marisol Morales on Aug 6, 2007, 11:35pm

The pieces each dodge his attack to the best of their ability, but it's a task - his blasts are light, after all. I take some pain, and decide on a better tactic.

Instead of reforming into a whole, I keep the pieces separate - twelve all together. Each piece grows, takes the form of a clone of Jake, becomes my solid form. This will give me some resistance, at least. Makes things easier.

"This is your final warning." The clones speak in unison, surrounding him. "From this point on, I cannot gaurentee your survival."

Re: Flare vs. Coyote
Post by Jake "Flare" Lange on Aug 6, 2007, 11:39pm

"Likewise"

He flares up further, just one giant beacon of light, and creates a construct sword in his left hand. He snarls at the Coyote in front of him

"Now I'm going to tear your ass to ribbons and throw you into the fucking sun."

Re: Flare vs. Coyote
Post by Marisol Morales on Aug 7, 2007, 12:10am

"I highly doubt that." Two of the clones leap at Jake from behind, try to restrain him, while I have the rest of the force come at him at all sides with all manners of punches - no finesse here. I need to take him down as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Re: Flare vs. Coyote
Post by Jake "Flare" Lange on Aug 7, 2007, 12:24am

Jake ducks down and starts firing eye beams at any of them that come close, one of the two that jump misses him and gets slashed at as Jake tries to shake the other one off. Just hacking away with his sword as they come closer, trying to get the one off of his back, putting more and more energy into his aura to try and hurt them just for getting in contact with him, and hoping that this random idea actually has a chance to work

Re: Flare vs. Coyote
Post by Marisol Morales on Aug 7, 2007, 1:47am

The one remaining on his back tosses him away - but I keep my distance, have all the clones circle around him. It's a simple matter of waiting him, taking me time and letting him waste away his energy…

Re: Flare vs. Coyote
Post by Jake "Flare" Lange on Aug 7, 2007, 3:15am

Need some air, useless like this.

He shifts around a bit, blasting out a short arcing wave of light to clear a couple of feet around himself as he goes into the air about twenty feet to get a birds eye view.

Army can't fly, so neither should this schmuk, so what do I do? The clones are throwing me off my game, and he can regen from anything. That means I need to get him somewhere that he'll be useless. But where? Fuck!

He snaps his fingers and creates a swarm of light grenades, sending them all down at the clones

Re: Flare vs. Coyote
Post by Marisol Morales on Aug 7, 2007, 4:16am

The light grenades hit my clones, knock them back, stun them - but they recoup after a moment and start leaping towards him, trying to pluck him out of the sky.

Re: Flare vs. Coyote
Post by Jake "Flare" Lange on Aug 7, 2007, 1:31pm

Obnoxious little piece of crap

Jake flies up a bit further, trying to stay out of their range as a strand shoots out from where his right arm should be and tries to wrap itself around one of the clones

Re: Flare vs. Coyote
Post by Marisol Morales on Aug 7, 2007, 1:34pm

He manages to grab one of my clones, pull him upwards…but that clones grabs a hold of him. And another clone grabs a hold of that one's leg. And another clone grabs a hold of that one's leg. All the clones link up, dragging him back to Earth.

Re: Flare vs. Coyote
Post by Jake "Flare" Lange on Aug 7, 2007, 1:37pm

A giant light blade appears below Jake and tries to slash through the second clone in the line as he tries to whip the one he has a hold of straight up as hard as he can

Re: Flare vs. Coyote
Post by Marisol Morales on Aug 7, 2007, 1:42pm

The line breaks and the other clones fall, but the original one still holds tight, moving around to Jake's back and catching him in a headlock. "Resistance is futile, Jake. You're only delaying the inevitable."

Re: Flare vs. Coyote
Post by Jake "Flare" Lange on Aug 7, 2007, 1:46pm

"Never give up."

He twists about a few times as he keeps flying up

"Never surrender."

And then he focuses his energy through his body and lets loose a full power beam from the center of his back

Re: Flare vs. Coyote
Post by Marisol Morales on Aug 7, 2007, 1:54pm

The clone goes flying, slams into the ground - multiple fronts aren't working to well, so I try and form together, pooling my strength.

I'm a bit of target down here, but it should give me a chance to assess his abilities…

Re: Flare vs. Coyote
Post by Jake "Flare" Lange on Aug 7, 2007, 2:04pm

Back to one? One I can manage

Jake grasps his shoulder a he starts catching his breath, fighting one armed against twelve opponents is anything but fun, even if they are all weakened by his powers.

He just keeps coming….how am I supposed to stop a guy that's already dead?

He takes his hand off of his shoulder and starts charging it, taking in as much as he can, it's time to load the canon

Re: Flare vs. Coyote
Post by Marisol Morales on Aug 8, 2007, 11:27pm

I stay back, still cautious - he's obviously planning something, but there's no way to be sure on the counter just yet. Not just yet…

Still, I revert to my liquid form and start to seep into the ship again, ready to go all the way into hiding if things become dire.

Re: Flare vs. Coyote
Post by Jake "Flare" Lange on Aug 9, 2007, 12:15am

He's hiding again…..got it

Jake's hand is glowing brighter then ever as he seems to pull all of the energy into the palm. Forcing it outwards it turns into a brightly glowing orb that he promptly drops down towards where he last saw Coyote. When it hits the ground it doesn't bounce, doesn't roll, it just sits there and quickly turns black.
