Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by skitch on Feb 5, 2008, 10:51am

Blind's console in his temporary quarters on Station Inera informs him that he is to report to Engineering at 18:00 hours for Officer Testing.

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by deathchicken1 on Feb 5, 2008, 10:57am

And he flickers into view at the appointed time, in his usual fashion that's sure to creep out anyone who happened to be standing there.

"Reporting."

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by skitch on Feb 5, 2008, 10:58am

Hussar is standing there. She is scowling, "Terran is late. Hussar almost left."

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by deathchicken1 on Feb 5, 2008, 11:02am

"So what will this test entail?"

Apparently totally ignoring whether he was late or not.

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by skitch on Feb 5, 2008, 11:09am

Hussar gives him a fanged grin, "Terran not like surprises?"

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by deathchicken1 on Feb 5, 2008, 11:11am

"Terran adores surprises. Mere curiosity."

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by skitch on Feb 5, 2008, 11:13am

Hussar points to an open doorway, "Through there. Be quick. Hussar skipped lunch for this."

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by deathchicken1 on Feb 5, 2008, 11:18am

Blind nods, heading for the doorway as he flickers out of view again. Whether he's doing this for effect, because it's stressful to stay visible or because he's a paranoid maniac, who can say?

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by skitch on Feb 5, 2008, 11:21am

Blind finds himself on an alien world, in the ruins of a steel and plastic building.

His powers inform him immediately that it's a holographic simulation.

That said, there is a wounded Kree soldier crouched behind a nearly demolished wall. The ceiling above them doesn't seem like they will be resisting the call of gravity for very much longer.

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by deathchicken1 on Feb 5, 2008, 11:28am

He walks to the soldier. Parks himself a bit away, while setting up an illusion to stand next to the man.

"Greetings. You may wish to move. The sky is falling."

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by skitch on Feb 5, 2008, 11:33am

The Kree soldier says, "I think my leg's broken. You should get out of here yourself. The Skrulls aren't that far behind us."

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by deathchicken1 on Feb 5, 2008, 11:38am

"Then we should waste no time in escaping."

Blind checks around, attempting to sniff out where the Skrulls are.

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by skitch on Feb 5, 2008, 11:40am

Three Skrulls approaching the building from the front. There are a few more assorted Kree and Shi'ar outside the rear of the building.

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by deathchicken1 on Feb 5, 2008, 11:45am

"Let's go. Towards the back of the building."

Blind extends a hand. Then after a moment's consideration, he cuts off any pain the Kree may be feeling in his leg.

"…your leg isn't as bad as you think it is. Come quickly."

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by skitch on Feb 5, 2008, 11:49am

The Kree hobbles along slowly. An explosion is heard from above, and the ceiling above them is starting to melt, dripping hot molten plastic towards them.

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by deathchicken1 on Feb 5, 2008, 11:52am

Siamko attempts to drag the Kree out of the way of the falling slag while looking around for the closest exit.

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by skitch on Feb 5, 2008, 11:55am

Exit is about fifteen yards ahead. The Skrulls are closing quickly.

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by deathchicken1 on Feb 5, 2008, 11:58am

"…pests. Take this."

Blind projects an illusion of a large, flaming slab falling down in front of the Skrulls and blocking their path. Which isn't far from the truth.

With that done, he tries to haul his newfound friend the rest of the way.

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by skitch on Feb 5, 2008, 12:01pm

Blind and the Kree emerged from the back of the building. The Skrulls are holding back. A large Shi'ar female take the Kree, and says to Blind, "Commander, are you all right?"

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by skitch on Feb 5, 2008, 12:03pm

A blue skinned Kree says, "Orders, sir?"

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by deathchicken1 on Feb 5, 2008, 12:04pm

"Three Skrull behind us. Injured leg on this one."

And this is too simple. His paranoia kicking in again, Blind silently checks to see if there's anything odd about these Shi'ar.

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by skitch on Feb 5, 2008, 12:09pm

As far as he can tell, there is nothing odd about this group. Just normal Alliance members…holographic obviously, but nothing wrong.

Quick run down of your group

- Injured pink skinned Kree
- A blue skinned Kree
- Large female Shi'ar
- Smaller male winged Shi'ar

The blue skinned Kree takes the injured Kree from the female Shi'ar, "I should be able to carry him. I'm not as frail as the Hollow Bones." The two Shi'ar glare at her, mildly annoyed.

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by skitch on Feb 5, 2008, 12:13pm

The group is staring at him waiting for further instructions. It suddenly occurs to Blind that Hussar gave him no information about what's going on. Either that was supposed to be part of the mission…or she was trying to screw him over.

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by deathchicken1 on Feb 5, 2008, 12:18pm

While his objective isn't quite clear here, Blind surmises that allowing the Alliance or himself to die would be bad.

"They don't seem to be moving from their position inside of the building. Which is very strange, given that the building is collapsing."

He checks around again, mainly wary of the Skrulls flanking them where they stand.

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by skitch on Feb 5, 2008, 12:24pm

There is some kind of low transport vehicle approaching them. It's hostile, but there is some time before it gets here. At that speed, at least three minutes.

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by deathchicken1 on Feb 5, 2008, 12:30pm

"We have incoming."

He glances around.

"…and given our numbers disadvantage, that would be bad. We should move to a less tactically dangerous spot. Reinforcements would be nice, but if we can't have that, we put our backs to a wall and stop them as they come to get us."

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by skitch on Feb 5, 2008, 12:32pm

The Alliance members seem a little surprised by Blind's orders, but they move to carry them out, "Sir…maybe we can move to one of the other buildings."

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by deathchicken1 on Feb 5, 2008, 12:35pm

"As good a plan as any. When the transport draws near, I will do my best to give whoever is piloting it a warm hello. With any luck, that will send the vehicle itself crashing, and we'll only be left to pick up the pieces."

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by skitch on Feb 5, 2008, 12:36pm

The Shi'ar female says, "Permission to speak freely, sir?" 2 minutes to arrival.

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by deathchicken1 on Feb 5, 2008, 12:39pm

"Of course."

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by skitch on Feb 5, 2008, 12:42pm

"I thought this was supposed to be a rescue mission. We have our man, why aren't we moving back to rendevous point? I really don't want to die so you can rack up a few more kills." She realizes what she said and looks shocked adding, "Uhm. Sir."

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by deathchicken1 on Feb 5, 2008, 12:46pm

"This is what I was getting at when I inquired about reinforcements. If we have an escape route, there is no need at all to stand around and fight."

Blind shakes his head.

"Urgh. Let's move. Lead the way to the point."

Since he doesn't know where it is.

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by skitch on Feb 5, 2008, 12:49pm

The Shi'ar blushes, "Sir…I didn't realize you were asking about the reinforcements. I thought you knew they were there. I'm going to get written up, aren't I? I'm messing this mission all up! My instructor was right…I am useless!"

The Kree start to laugh at her. The other Shi'ar draws his weapon on the Kree. It's…tense to say the least.

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by deathchicken1 on Feb 5, 2008, 12:52pm

Blind pulls a vision scramble so that anyone pointing a gun suddenly looks like they're pointing it at themselves.

"Enough. We'll have this conversation another time. Preferably when we don't have an incoming transport of hostiles. Now, let's move. You, lead the way to the point."

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by skitch on Feb 5, 2008, 12:54pm

The Shi'ar female nods and leads the way. The others don't look happy, but they follow. About twenty seconds after they leave the area, it's pretty much wiped from the planet by a barrage of attacks from the Skrull transport.

The streets they move through are pretty much silent. After a few minutes, they can see a small Alliance ship hidden in an alleyway.

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by deathchicken1 on Feb 5, 2008, 12:58pm

"This is our rendezvous point?"

Scouting around again, mainly for ambushes.

"…humor me, and pretend I am oblivious to our orders."

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by skitch on Feb 5, 2008, 1:05pm

Two Skrulls camolflaged at mouth of alley.

The Shi'ar says, "Our orders were rescue stranded Kree, return to drop ship, and get the hell out of it."

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by deathchicken1 on Feb 5, 2008, 1:09pm

"Very well. There are two Skrulls camouflaged at the mouth of the alley. On the count of three, I plan to make one shoot the other. It will be your job to take down the remaining Skrull, hopefully before he harms our ship. One, two, three."

And Blind affects the vision of the lefthand Skrull, making him see his comrade suddenly decloak and turn into an armed and angry Kree, ready to kill him.

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by skitch on Feb 5, 2008, 1:10pm

The Skrull opens fire on his companion, and is greeted with a barrage of fire from Blind's troops. All clear.

«sorry, I put his instead of Blind's and realized that might be confusing»

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by deathchicken1 on Feb 5, 2008, 1:12pm

"…alright then. If there are no objections, to the ship."

[Yeah, was like, wait, where'd these other Skrulls come from? ]

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by skitch on Feb 5, 2008, 1:16pm

They walk onto the ship, and Blind finds himself back in the hallway. Hussar is grinning, "Go down to Vell." She walks away.

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by deathchicken1 on Feb 5, 2008, 1:18pm

Blind does so, vaguely amused that she didn't bother to tell him where Vell is right now.

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by skitch on Feb 5, 2008, 1:20pm

Thankfully, Vell isn't too difficult to find. He's in his own temporary quarters, the door's open, he's clearly expecting Blind. He is reviewing something on a computer screen. He raises a hand in greeting.

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by deathchicken1 on Feb 5, 2008, 1:22pm

"So. How did I fare?"

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by skitch on Feb 5, 2008, 1:26pm

Genis hesistates a second, "Well…let me ask you two questions. Did you recover the injured party?"

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by deathchicken1 on Feb 5, 2008, 1:27pm

"Yes."

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by skitch on Feb 5, 2008, 1:28pm

"Was anyone else under your command injured or killed?"

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by deathchicken1 on Feb 5, 2008, 1:30pm

"No."

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by skitch on Feb 5, 2008, 1:33pm

Genis says, "Yeah. That is what I thought. Well, Hussar still reccomended failing you. For several infractions, actually. Ranging from allowing an insubordinate to question your orders to not checking the mission briefing over before the mission."

Genis looks at him curiously, "Any thoughts?"

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by deathchicken1 on Feb 5, 2008, 1:38pm

"My thoughts are that I succeeded in the mission, with no injuries or casualties. Any other questions are secondary."

A pause.

"And that I asked Hussar directly for a briefing, and was denied."

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by skitch on Feb 5, 2008, 1:41pm

Genis said, "Well said, Lieutenant. As for Hussar…well…we don't always get to pick with who we work with." Genis says with a soft smile, "Just be glad she didn't try hitting you with that whip."

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by deathchicken1 on Feb 5, 2008, 1:43pm

"I admit, that was my first thought when she began prattling on about surprises."

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by skitch on Feb 5, 2008, 1:44pm

Genis nods thoughtfully, "Anything else?"

Re: Double-Blind Test <Blind»
Post by deathchicken1 on Feb 5, 2008, 1:49pm

"I believe that is all. By your leave."

And Blind flickers out.
