Warren Worthington III has come in possession of a strange device that gives him a way of taking down Apocalypse. Seeing that this could make him a very wealthy man, he invites a girl named Viola Drummond (Downfall) to Heaven. He also plans to gather up some of the other people around the bar to use to achieve his goals.

At Heaven, it is a pretty rowdy night. Two of Apocalypse’s soldiers are sitting at the bar causing trouble, and a few other regulars are around. Warren’s “son” Phase goes around to Steve Hunter (a human with no powers), Tiger, Tiger Burning Bright, The Stoic Heart, Torment, Vibe, and Downfall and invites them to a secret meetings with Warren after closing. Warren himself personally invites Solidity and Rose, coming off as a real letch when he does so.

At the meeting, Warren shows them a device that he claims came from another reality, one where Apocalypse had never ruled the world. When Warren activated the device, our Dilan appears before them. In AoA, Dilan is near death because of his sister’s powers, so Viola was pretty shocked. Dil tells them all about our world, and what happened to destroy it. He explains that if this group of heroes can get this device to the AoA version of himself, then all of this can be fixed.

The heroes hesitate to believe in all of this, but for the chance to take down Apocalypse, they agree to give it a try. Viola reveals that her brother is located in the old Daily Bugle building. At that moment, alarms start going off outside. Swelter and Partisan are seen running from the seen. A telepath named Stryker had allowed them to listen to the conversation, and they decided to go after Dil themselves.

The villains race from Heaven towards the Daily Bugle building. Along the way, they are attacked by the X-Men, Quicksilver and Nightcrawler. They easily manage to overwhelm the X-Men, who were already on the run from Infinites. They leave the X-Men alive, but the Infinites kill them both as a prize for Lord Apocalypse. They are easily able to it to the Daily Bugle, well ahead of the heroes.

The heroes emerge outside, and find themselves facing off against Blight, a crazy individual who acts pretty randomly, but always violently. Instead of killing them, Blight disintegrates the ground under them, dropping them into the Morlock tunnels. In AoA, the Morlocks are a group of humans and low level mutants hiding under the city.

The heroes find themselves dropped in the middle of a ring of stone men. In the distance, a grey girl with long horns is watching them wide-eyed (AoA’s Madrock). She screams, and runs off. The stone men start to close in on the heroes. The heroes manage to fight off the stone men, and convince Roxie to stop the attack. Roxie offers to lead them to the Daily Bugle.

The heroes travel under the ground, and find themselves led into am ambush by humans looking to trade them in to Apocalypse’s forces for bigger rations. The heroes manage to fight their way free, but find themselves way off of course. There are Infinites patrolling all over the city, but Torment manages to convince them to all head to the center of the city, leaving the heroes with a fairly straight run.

During their travels, Blight follows behind them closely watching everything they do. When the escape the humans, Blight uses his staff to drain the life energy from the humans, and teleports himself directly to the Bugle building.

The heroes arrive at the Bugle building. Dil is up on the top floor, so they split into teams of two, each tackling a stairwell.

Teams:
Vibe, Downfall and Rose
Tiger and Solidity
Phase and Hunter
Torment and Seph

Hunter is mind controlled by Stryker, and attacks Phase. Phase turns the steps into gas, and Stryker ends up falling down, breaking his leg pretty badly.

About halfway up the stairs, Solidity and Tiger encounter a homeless guy, but he turns out to be harmless and they let him go by without confrontation.

Torment and Stoic Heart run into Partisan. Torment uses a modified mutant nullifier to boast up his own powers, allowing him to really warp Partisan’s head. He tries to drive Partisan nuts. Partisan mimics Torment’s enhanced powers and does the same thing to Stoic Heart. Partisan stabs his sword through Torment’s leg, and impales Stoic Heart, killing him. Partisan takes off. Torment staggers up towards the top.

Vibe, Rose and Downfall find the stairs getting hot, and end up running into Swelter. Downfall ages Swelter, who hits Rose with a nasty fire blast that ends up burning off her top, and small fires break out around them. The stairs are starting to get pretty rickety. The stairs collapse under Swelter, who drops several feet, bruising himself thanks to Downfall’s aging. Swelter manages to crawl off towards another stair case.

Swelter, Partisan, and Stryker meet up on the stairway. Swelter and Partisan decide to leave Stryker on the steps, unable to rescue himself, and they head to the top.

Meanwhile, Charge has been following the action of the day all over town, but is mostly just watching, seeing how he can manipulate events to his own advantage.

The surviving heroes all arrive to find Blight standing over Dil’s unconscious body.
Blight makes a speech about his staff knowing all about the different worlds, and that it revealed to him that in the “right” universe, he would be in a world of suffering under a demon named Mephisto. So Blight decides to kill Dil and keep things right the way they are. He smashes his staff down on Dil’s chest, intending to entropy field him…but Hunter reveals that he is actually a mutant with nullifying powers and shuts Wreck’s powers down. The impact still smashes several ribs, and leaves Dil’s nearing death’s door. The heroes pile on Blight, killing him.

Swelter and Partisan arrive on the scene. Solidity impales Swelter, who ignites the building before he dies. Partisan gets hit with a big time doze of Tiger’s mind-altering powers.

Solidity manages to get Dil out of the building and down to the ground floor. Phases sets up a slide to the ground, and Rose gives the team time to escape. Unfortunately, Blight’s staff releases a nasty burst of entropic energy, destroying Rose and Partisan. The staff somehow ends up on the ground by Torment’s.

The team manages to keep Dil alive long enough to use Angel’s device on him. Phase decides to betray Warren and fix reality instead of turning Dil over to him.

The device uses Dil’s powers to open up a portal back in time, and the heroes rush through to find themselves thirty years in the past facing off against a beaten down Apocalypse. Blight’s staff does not make the journey oddly enough. Charge follows them into the portal, but instead of attacking them or Apocalypse, he ties himself into nearby power lines to keep himself from being wiped out when reality tries to fix itself.

The heroes pile on Apocalypse, and manage to save Xavier’s life, and bring Apocalypse down. Magneto eyes the fallen Apocalypse, and starts having plans of his own…

Before they fade, Viola runs to Xavier and gives him a message for our Dil, “One day you're going to teach a young man named Dillan Drummond. Please make sure he knows how much I love him. I get the feeling that no matter what the world's like, I'd never get a chance to tell him that." With Xavier saved, these versions of the heroes fades out, and we return to the normal 1982 universe.
